17 Days of Wishes Come to Life- A Sept. 08 WDW and DCL Adventure 3/27 new link posted

Hey Jay..LOVE the painting you bought. So cool that you won too. Also love the quick cool sketch!!! Very, very cool.

Love all the food pics...definitely looks yummy!! I so wanna go on a cruise and it is all YOUR fault...LOL.

And YES you best be planning on writing a TR for each of the boys special birthday trips...your dedicated fans await. (And yes, I know the other two may try to plan a non-WDW trip but I am going to think POSITIVE for you Jay. Well unless they wanted to come visit my state...LOL...I am all for that too)!!! Hahahaahahahah!!!
Ha ha ha. You know what, I will happily take responsibility for you NEEDING to go on a cruise. ;) It really is a great family experience! :thumbsup2

That food looked divine! I can't get over how cute your kids are.
It was nice of Mr. Ellenshaw to pose for a picture and sign a ded. plate. A true treasure for you, beginning to end.
I do treasure the art even more because of my experiences on the cruise. It was such an amazing treat for me. I coudln't have planned a more enjoyable one for myself. :thumbsup2

Oh my, what a month. And not in a good way. I feel your pain with the ice storm, we were without power for almost a week. It was not my favorite time of the year either. I too hope to go the rest of the year without that happening again. I am thankful that so many people like your dh were dedicated enough to work almost non-stop to get our power back on as quickly as it did come back. I know that a lot of sacrifices were made in order for that to happen.

I am so sorry to hear that your son was hurt. What a horrible thing. How is he doing after the surgery? Is he recovering quickly?

I too wish I was back at Paradise Beach right now. Ahhh, I can almost hear the ocean.
DS is doing well. He is going to therapy 3 times a week. He is worried about being ready for pre-season football workouts in March since he will start playing junior varsity football.
Ahh, Paradise Beach!!!!! We have made reservations for a condo at Gulf Shores, AL, it's no Paradise Beach, but pretty nice. My goal is to loose some weight - no alot - and go a great beach in Mexico. So, no Disney for us this year. Boy if I could go I would be there in a heartbeat. I'm helping a co-worker from work plan his Disney vacy for June. I've turned him onto the DIS.
I love planning Disney vacations *almost* as much as going to WDW. It's so much fun! My perfect job (other than mother/wife/home schooler) would be as a Disney vacation planner. I have no idea if anyone would pay for that service...but I would love to get paid to put together dream plans for others (how much fun would that be!).

I can't get over how amazing this trip is. You and your DH created some unbelievable memories for your boys that they'll never, ever forget! Looking forward to more!
I hope that all we do as a family now will keep us close later.

I don't think that's possible! Obviously, we all love hearing about your adventures! :thumbsup2
:lmao: You are too kind. But I do so love reliving the fun through trip reports...I think I am addicted to them. Both the writing and the reading of them. :surfweb:

Another wonderful evening - the food looks SO good! I can't wait to hear about another day at Castaway Cay! :cool1:
I am working on writing that installment right now. :)

Ahhhh, that makes sense! That will be beautiful!!

I am jealous that your LP falls asleep in your arms! There is ZERO way we could ever go see a movie with Henry, he would be so squirmy and everywhere! :rotfl:

What a great evening! I love that you and your DH took time alone too to stroll together and enjoy each other. :lovestruc
I don't think that LP ever had much choice in the matter. We have been on the go ever since he was born. I think it was a case of he got used to falling asleep where and when ever he could. He didn't really have another option. By the time he was a few weeks old, he was sleeping on the sidelines of soccer games....if you can sleep there, you can sleep anywhere! :rotfl:

The image of your boys watching the film in their PJ's is just so cute, sounds like a lovely evening :goodvibes
It was a very nice evening. Another update soon to come. :)

DCL Day 7...Relaxation and Fun!

The day started out with another round of fruit, croissants and donuts from room service. **TIP-While room service itself is included in the price of the cruise, the tips that usually go along with it are not. Stock up on a pile of singles and you will always have a few ready for your room service delivery.**

As soon as we were all ready, we dropped our LP off at Flounder's Nursery. And then it was back on to one wonderful island, Castaway Cay!
IMGP1113.jpg

Once we were on the island, we wasted no time in depositing our big boys at their respective island club locations. Although we had plans for family time later in the day, this morning was going to be all about some couple time for dh and I. We were headed over to Serenity Bay, the beach that Disney reserves for adults only. Ahhhh. :cloud9: **TIP Don't try to walk here (unless you are looking for a LONG walk). Hop on the tram instead.**

Here is the only picture I have of our morning. After I snapped this one, I handed the camera over to dh to put into the velcro pocket on his trunks and just enjoyed the special time. Here is dh sitting on a bench while I searched through our bag for my chapstick (I am seriously addicted to the stuff:lmao: ). You can sort of see a sliver of the beach behind him.
kwdw208082.jpg

Dh and I dropped our bag near some lounges and immediately made our way out into the waves. We spent over two hours just talking, laughing and bobbing together. While there were other people at the beach, it didn't feel crowded and the noise level was defiantly a lot lower than at the beaches where children could be found. We had planned to pull up a chair to the edge of the ocean and order drinks while digging our toes into the sand and having the waves lap up over our feet. BUT, instead, we just bobbed and splashed around. It was really relaxing and we were having so much fun that we forgot that we had planned a different way to have fun. It just goes to show that even the best laid plans sometimes need to be left in the playbook while you call an audible. We couldn't have had a better morning at the beach. :cloud9:

Finally, our hunger drew us from the ocean and to Air BBQ located right next to Serenity Bay. We had a delicious lunch here! I had grilled shrimp, roasted vegetables and fresh fruit. Dh had steak, roasted veggies and a huge helping of ice cream. While the food is a bit more 'gourmet' than you will find at Cookie's BBQ, the atmosphere is just as relaxed. I ate in my bare feet and swimsuit/sarong while sitting at a picnic table in the sand (under the shade of a huge umbrella). The dining area was defined by bushes, trees and flowers. It was like an outdoor dining 'room' with living walls. And while we were eating, we had a very spoiled visitor. A feral cat wondered over and was given steak, shrimp, chicken and who knows what else by many of the people eating there. The cat was obviously used to begging and was none to thin. Ha ha. It was a very relaxing meal and we could have sat enjoying the atmosphere longer, but dh had to get back and pick up our LP while I scurried around the island getting our older boys.

Within ten minutes I had picked up Goofy and Stitch. However, the Ocean Quest group was in the middle of an adventure that had them tracking all over the island, so I figured it would be easier to catch up with Aladdin afterward than trying to chase him down. Instead, I took a bit of time and snapped some pictures of the boys by Mount Rustmore.

kwdw208085.jpg

Stitch was really into being a ninja pirate for some reason. Ha.
kwdw208086.jpg

kwdw208087.jpg

kwdw208088.jpg

Another pirate ninja pose.
kwdw208089.jpg

And making our way back toward the post office to mail a postcard home (and to meet up with dh and our LP).
kwdw208090.jpg

kwdw208091.jpg

The ninja strikes again!
kwdw208094.jpg

kwdw208095.jpg

kwdw208096.jpg

He 'ninja'ed himself dizzy. Ha ha.
kwdw208097.jpg

And here they are waiting to take the tram back. As you can see, they were very entertaining. Stitch especially was in rare form.

CONTINUED...

Shortly after we mailed our postcard, we saw these guys strolling by.
kwdw208103.jpg

I loved our Little Prince's new Mickey sun hat.
kwdw208105.jpg

kwdw208107.jpg

Almost all of my guys in front of the Magic.
kwdw208106.jpg

More silly pictures of our middle sons.
kwdw208108.jpg

And lots of other stuff on our walk/tram ride back to the beach.
kwdw208109.jpg

Don't worry about getting lost, Mickey will point you in the right direction.
kwdw208118.jpg

kwdw208120.jpg

A place both Stitch and Goofy loved to explore.
kwdw208121.jpg

kwdw208122.jpg

kwdw208124.jpg

kwdw208125.jpg

We stopped to get a few pieces of fresh fruit to nibble on while we found Aladdin.
kwdw208126.jpg

A very happy little guy.

CONTINUED...

When we finally tracked down Aladdin, he looked much too happy to disturb. A few of the kids from Ocean Quest had decided to hit the water. He's the one in the black board shirt.
kwdw208132.jpg

We figured that instead of grabbing him just yet, we would enjoy the empty beach as well (it was the sports beach and other than the Ocean Quest group and the lifeguards, it was totally empty). Here is a message that Stitch scratched into the sand. As he said to me "SOLVE IT!"
kwdw208138.jpg

His hidden message (not sure how he thought he was being that tricky) was "I love Disney!"
kwdw208137.jpg

One of my favorite Little Prince pictures ever. He looks so happy here. And it reminds me of the great time we were having together.
kwdw208141.jpg

Goofy made up his own game by drawing targets in the sand and throwing sand chunks at them.
kwdw208142.jpg

Baby splashes.
kwdw208150.jpg

kwdw208149.jpg

kwdw208148.jpg

We were having a lot of fun splashing, playing and building with our littlest guys.
kwdw208144-1.jpg

kwdw208145.jpg

kwdw208153.jpg

kwdw208154.jpg

Here is another shot of Aladdin (of course, I needed to use zoom...ha). He is the one who looks like he just threw a football (in the black board shirt). He actually just threw a squishy water ball.
kwdw208156.jpg

The gingerbread man...I have NO earthly idea why Stitch thought he belonged on a beach.
kwdw208161.jpg

Sorry for the blurry picture, but I was surprised by it and had to act fast to even capture it at all. Here is a wild sting ray. After seeing him, I reminded the boys (and myself) to do the sting ray shuffle. ;)
kwdw208168.jpg

Another picture of Aladdin (from way afar). I like this shot cause you can see the Magic in the background and the storm that was brewing on the horizon.
kwdw208164.jpg

kwdw208158.jpg

Our dear friends found us by happy accident. They were really looking for Aladdin so that they could leave Abu with him and the rest of the Ocean Quest club. **Side note: I thought it was great that they let the older kids deviate from the scheduled activity (beach volleyball) in favor of one they all seemed to prefer (swimming). The entire time they were in the water, two counselors were hanging out near them on the beach and the lifeguard was watching over them.**

When Cinderella saw Goofy at work on another castle, she joined right in to help.
kwdw208162.jpg

Another picture of Aladdin (again, thank you Mr. Zoom Button).
kwdw208173.jpg

kwdw208172.jpg

kwdw208178.jpg

CONTINUED...

After this one last shot, Aladdin swam back off to his friends and I swam back over to the beach.
kwdw208180.jpg

kwdw208184.jpg

Just as I got there, it started to pour down rain. Since there was no lightening or thunder, I chose to ride out the storm in the water. I was already soaking wet anyway. ;)
kwdw208186.jpg

All of the kids stayed in with me (dh and Mr. and Mrs. Friend huddled under sun umbrellas and tried to stay dry).
kwdw208188.jpg

In a few minutes, it was time to split up. Dh took all of the boys except for Goofy (who stayed with me) to participate in (or watch in our LP's case) the island free throw contest held in the Grouper Game Pavilion. Mr. Friend went with them.

While they were busy shooting baskets, Goofy had fun doing some wave jumping.
kwdw208197.jpg

kwdw208190.jpg

Very soon though, he stopped hopping and the rest of us walked the short distance to Castaway Ray's Sting Ray Adventure. Here the kids are waiting for the short instructional talk to begin before we get into the water with the rays.
IMGP1134.jpg

Goofy seems to have turned into Bigfoot! Snow White gifted him with this extra large foot while we were waiting.
kwdw208198.jpg

IMGP1133.jpg

There were so few people taking part in this session that Goofy and I were able to have our very own feeding station (as were Mrs. Friend and her children). There were only two people outside of our group taking part in this session!
kwdw208211.jpg

kwdw208212.jpg

Goofy feeding a ray.
kwdw208206.jpg

The target they trained the sting rays to come to for food were Mickey heads.
kwdw208204.jpg

kwdw208205.jpg

kwdw208201.jpg

And even though Goof cut most of me off, that is me feeding a ray.
kwdw208208.jpg

kwdw208209.jpg

kwdw208210.jpg

After doing all of the hand feeding we wanted (they ate shrimp, squid and soft vitamin sticks), we had the rest of our time to snorkel and swim with them. It was a lot of fun.
kwdw208213.jpg

kwdw208214.jpg

This guy was hidden in the sand. Sort of eerie. Lots of beautiful.
kwdw208215.jpg

CONTINUED...

Along with the sting rays, Goofy made another wildlife discovery. He found at least a few hundred (and I am guessing low numbers wise) tiny hermit crabs near the shore. We were all fascinated with watching them. We floated in about a foot of water watching them go about their business.
kwdw208226.jpg

I took this underwater picture of one of them on my hand to show you just how small they really wear. Nothing like the hermit crabs Goofy has in his room back home.
kwdw208225.jpg

A few fish came to check out what we were doing as we lay there floating and watching.
kwdw208218.jpg

All too soon our session was over and we made our way to the outdoor showers and then slowly back to the ship. Mrs. Friend and I did quite a bit of picture taking on our way back. Both of us knew just how much we would miss this place. Look at how clear the skies are now. The storm just blew right through.

It's touches like this that put Disney in a class of it's own.
kwdw208231.jpg

All too soon we were walking up the gangplank (after sipping a cup of ice water they had set out for our refreshment) and making our way back to our rooms. I stopped to take a few more pictures of the art along the way.
kwdw208232.jpg

kwdw208233.jpg

kwdw208235.jpg

Within a few minutes we back at the room where we found dh and the other boys already getting cleaned up and resting before getting ready for our last dinner aboard the Magic. Dh had also taken that time to get most of the rest of our packing done! What a great husband!!

To be continued...

Coming up next: One final night aboard the Magic!

Looks like another glorious day in paradise! I especially love your pictures of Stitch acting silly, entertaining indeed!

Somehow, I wasn't surprised at all to read that Aladdin didn't get picked up with the rest of the boys! ;)

Oh, I just realized I missed some updates - I'll be back after I read them!

Ok, I'm back, don't know how I just saw the first two installments of your update the first time around?!

It's so cute to see the LP playing in and loving the water! The more I read about your trip, the more I realize that I just HAVE to take my family on a Disney cruise, shirley if your DH can handle it with his motion sickness issues, I'd be able to handle it too.

I'm sad your trip is about over, BUT you have another one just right around the corner to tell us all about!

I love your recaps of CC! It definatly makes me look for the 286 days until our trip! :lmao:
Stingray Shuffle! I'll have to remember that! :thumbsup2

Well, because of you and your TR we added a Disney cruise to our WDW trip on December. Boy reading your TR is not good for my pocketbook. What an amazing trip you had. Can't believe you'll be going back so soon. I'm really enjoying your TR but pretty soon my DH may ban me from reading it as each time I read it there is something else I want to do!:lmao:

Another great update! You guys really enjoyed yourselves at CC! I was wondering about the lunch on the island, is that included as well? I am so amazed by the amount of goodies to eat and drink that seem to be everywhere.
I loved that you stayed in the water during the downpour! :rotfl: That happened to us one time in the BVI and we found we were actually warmer staying in the ocean rather than getting rained on out on the sand.
You had some really pretty pictures of the flowers there and of course LP looks adorable splashing in the water! :)

Oh Jay...I LOVE all the latest updates. Your day at Castaway Cay looked incredible. I love the pictures of the boys in the water (love the ones of Goofy jumping high above the water) and Stitch being a Ninja. Your LP is just too adorable, and his swimming trunks are so cute!

Oh and I LOVED Stitch's messages in the sand.....too stinkin' cute!!!:lmao:

So I am coming out of lurkerdom to tell you how very much I have LOVED your trip report!! It took me many nights of reading to get through it all, and my husband just laughed everytime I brought my laptop to bed so I could log on and read more. Did you know how addicting you are?!:lmao:

Seriously, its been so fun reliving your trip with you. I learned so much about Disney that I didn't know. Your enthusiasm is sooo contagious. You enjoy your children very much and its so refreshing to see!

Its funny cause when I first started reading and saw the pix of your kids and seen how your oldest treated his baby brother and seen how close all your boys were with each other, I wondered if you homeschooled. Later in your trip report you addressed that you did. Its such a nice byproduct of homeschooling to have kids that are so close with their siblings. When they spend all day together they really become best buddies don't they.

When I finished this most recent report, I decided to go back and read last years as well. It was so weird to see all those pictures without your little prince nugget...it was like someone was missing. Your husbands arms looked so bare and empty in all the pictures. After pages of pix with him happily seated in daddys arms everywhere, it looked so strange for him to not be there! :) too funny.

Anyhow, this turned into a novel...sorry ;) I just wanted to pass on a hello or rather, a very long.. ahem.. message to a fellow homeschool mom.
Oh, and please tell me you are not going to leave that beautiful baby prince at home while you go to Disney for a week with your other son...my heart couldn't bear it~teehee ;) Even though I know he would be in the best of hands with daddy and big brother, a week without momma is just such a looong time... can you tell I'm such a suck for babies? Must be why I have had 6 of them!

Now I am off to read your 2006 report!

I just finished reading your '06 TR....I am loving this one so much that I needed more between your postings! One question that has been nagging me this whole time......I haven't read anything about laundry. Do you bring enough clean clothes for the whole time, or do you have laundry time that you just don't mention? I can't imagine almost 3 weeks worth of clothing for everyone. :confused3

I too share your DH's motion sickness problem. I always take Bonine on our cruises...but it makes me sleepy. So, what I do is take 1/2 a pill every 12 hours...it keeps the sickness away and I don't get too groggy. One of the biggest things that sets me off is when I put my car in park but don't set the emergency brake and it rolls just a tiny bit.....ugh, not a pleasant feeling.

Stitch can sometimes get in moods that just about make me fall to my knees laughing. He has more personality in his little finger than lots of people ever have.

You DO have to go on a cruise. Your Capt. Jack loving self would be so happy there! A pirate party (with Jack himself appearing for pictures), the island with his ship sitting there (and him once again lurking about for pictures), a party dinner and all of it while sailing in the Caribbean! :) It's a great piratey time. Not to mention how cool the kid's clubs are. If it's ever an option, don't pass it up! :)

I have already started setting things aside to pack.

I love your recaps of CC! It definatly makes me look for the 286 days until our trip!
Stingray Shuffle! I'll have to remember that!
I am so proud of you for already counting down the days! ;) In our four days spent on the island (over the past three trips), we only saw that one sting ray that wasn't part of the tamed group within the sting ray excursion enclosure.

Well, because of you and your TR we added a Disney cruise to our WDW trip on December. Boy reading your TR is not good for my pocketbook. What an amazing trip you had. Can't believe you'll be going back so soon. I'm really enjoying your TR but pretty soon my DH may ban me from reading it as each time I read it there is something else I want to do!
I am so happy for you! A Disney cruise planned! What a great treat!! I wish I had another one planned right about now. Will you be sailing on the Magic or the Wonder? What a great time of year to go!

Hee hee hee, dh says that the DIS should just stick a straw into our bank account and suck. I get way too many costly ideas here on the DIS myself. ;)

Sounds like a wonderful relaxing and fun day at Castaway Cay.
Yes, very relaxing and lots and lots of fun. I am so happy to have had the chance to make memories there!

Another great update! You guys really enjoyed yourselves at CC! I was wondering about the lunch on the island, is that included as well? I am so amazed by the amount of goodies to eat and drink that seem to be everywhere.

Yes, lunch on the island was included and all snacks and drinks (if the drinks came from the self serve dispenser).

It was so much warmer in the water than on the beach. I got out to go and tell dh something and couldn't wait to get back to the warmth of the ocean.

I loved stopping to take pictures of the flowers. It was a way to literally make myself stop and smell the roses (well, flowers). ;)

You should love those pictures! ;) You were the inspiration behind quite a few of them. :thumbsup2

I wish I would have thought to buy a bigger pair of those trunks so that he could wear them again this year. However, being as he is growing like a weed there is no way that his old trunks will fit him again this year. Ahhh, I love to watch him change but I hate it when I am reminded of just how quickly he is growing (if that makes any sense at all). :confused3 ;)

So I am coming out of lurkerdom to tell you how very much I have LOVED your trip report!! It took me many nights of reading to get through it all, and my husband just laughed everytime I brought my laptop to bed so I could log on and read more. Did you know how addicting you are?!:lmao:

First THANKS for coming out of lurkdom. My dh is constantly making fun of me when I grab my laptop and get caught up in something on the DIS instead of paying attention to the movie or show we were supposed to be watching together. Or when I climb in bed with the laptop and fall asleep with it open on my lap. Or when I start laughing out loud at something I am reading and everyone in the house is looking at me like I am a loon. :rotfl: And it's the DIS that is addictive in general.;)

It's nice to 'meet' another home schooling mom. :) I do think that the boys are very close, in part, because of the family time they are gifted with due to our home schooling them. I love them all so very much and I have no greater joy than seeing them enjoying and loving each other. They really are the lights of my life. I am a very lucky/blessed mom to have all of them in my life.

In looking back at our trip report it looks like a mom didn't even travel with them for the most part. I have to get better about coming out from behind the camera instead of staying almost exclusively behind it. I adore the pictures of dh and our LP though. They make me love dh even more. :cloud9:

Yes, I am going to have to leave all of the rest of the kids at home. While I am very excited to have special one on one time with Stitch (what a treat for me!!!!), I am really going to have trouble leaving the rest of the boys and dh at home. I just keep telling myself that, one day, I will have this special time with each of them.:cloud9: A few years ago, I spent a week in Chicago with only Aladdin. It was great (but it was also very hard without the other two boys with me).

WOW, six....I tip my hat to you! I am so busy with four I don't know which way up is sometimes (but I wouldn't trade a minute of it for anything).

Thanks for posting! I hope you enjoy the other trip reports as well. :goodvibes

Laundry is not something I like doing while I am on vacation. I don't mind doing it at home (I have my laundry room right off of the family room so I can be doing laundry and still be part of everything going on around our home as well) but on vacation, I really don't want to waste my time doing it. So, I (and I know this is wasteful) build money into our travel budget for sending our laundry out. Between that and whatever shirts we buy during the tirp, we usually end up with just enough to make it through (without breaking the bank by sending out tons of stuff to be laundered). For stuff like underwear and socks, I make sure to buy each person a few new packs before we leave for vacation and I pack those along with 'the old stuff'. It's not as if the boys aren't always in need of new socks/underwear anyway. :lmao:

Wow, even just putting your car in park! I think you may have dh beat on being sensitive to motion. However, he definately couldn't make it through a an entire cruise without taking motion sickness pills for it. Thank goodness for motion sickness meds!:thumbsup2

Thanks for reading!

Hi! I’m pretty new here on the boards and actually I didn’t post ANYTHING before today (I guess that would make me a lurker:guilty: …). That’s also because I am from Belgium (that’s in Europe, a small country next to France) so my English isn’t that well (I understand everything but I really have to concentrate on writing, so sorry if I write any mistakes!).
But I just had to let you know how much I enjoyed your trip report! :thumbsup2 You have such a nice way of writing! It really made me want to go back to the World (and I only went, for the first time, at the beginning of this month!) and take a cruise some day…
I also wanted to compliment you on your nice sons. They look so well behaved and they are so kind to each other! And your Little Prince is just to cute for words :cutie: … If I ever have children of my own, I hope they will be as sweet as your boys!
So anyway, thank you so much for sharing your stories with us! :flower3:

Welcome to Jay's trippie, Lotje! I can vouch for the fact that her kids are just as well behaved and charming as they look! I was blessed to meet them all a couple years ago, and it was a highlight of our trip.

Jay, another terrific installment. I love seeing how the boys have grown - and cuter every day. No one would EVER mistake the little prince for someone elses child.

!

:lmao: Yes!!!!! You did a wonderful job with the photo challenge Jay!!!!! I am mighty impressed!!!

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the LP changing but being sad about how fast he is growing. The same thing is happening to my son!! It sure is a joy watching them discover new things though, isn't it?? Way too cute!!!!

I feel so relaxed after just reading about your wonderful time at Castaway Cay. That really was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and I'm tempted to take another cruise just to visit it again! Your family seems like they had such a blast, I especially love Stitch and his pirate ninja poses and Gingerbread Man
