17 Days of Wishes Come to Life- A Sept. 08 WDW and DCL Adventure 3/27 new link posted

What a perfect Disney moment, especially for a parent! :goodvibes I'm so happy the Little Prince loved every minute of the characters and the floats, he just looks like he's in complete happiness! :lovestruc You'll always have the memory of his first parade. (And by the looks of it, I'd say he's a Disney fan!) :thumbsup2
I am so proud that he is already a Disney fan! ;) Seriously though, he was so stinking cute and we had so much fun!! Life was totally perfect for our family during that parade!

OMG! Your little Disney Prince is just adorable. His reaction to the parade is just priceless. :)

Can't wait till the next installment, as you said same bat channel, same bat time. :rotfl:
HA HA HA, I am glad you tuned back in. An update is coming right up...same bat time...same batty channel. ;)

Oh my gosh, the photos of Little Prince at the parade are so adorable! It's so nice to see him having so much fun!
:) Thanks!!

Your Little Prince is so adorable!!! What a sweetie!
Awww, thank you!:flower3:

Hope your Little Prince feels better real soon. :goodvibes
He's feeling okay, not totally better, but okay. Turns out his system doesn't do so well with antibiotics (which we knew). I have taken him in every day sicne Sunday for a shot of antibiotics to avoid having to give them to him orally (easier on his stomach) and yet he still has an upset tummy from them. Poor little guy.

Jay the Little prince is just so absolutely adorable. His expressions say it all. I remember my little guy at that age. It definately changes the way you "do Disney". Love his little outfit. Sooo cute sleeping on daddy. Cant wait to hear more. Get better little prince.
It really does change everything about the way one goes about taking on Disney. I love that picture of him up on dh's shoulders getting ready to hunker down for a nap. :cloud9:

I hope The Little Prince feels better soon! He's too cute to be sick! ;)
If only that rule was true! Hopefully he will be over this bout very soon.

Hope the little guy feels better soon.

Then everyone can get some sleep!
Tell me about it! Right about now, getting good sleep is just a memory.

Hey Jay..I sure hope the little guy starts to feel better soon!!!! It's awful when our babies are sick!!
Thanks! I hope so too!

Oh my the pictures are wonderful!! Little Prince sure did enjoy the parade!! What a wonderful experince!! I hope his ear infection goes away soon and he's back to his happy self soon!! Both my kids were plauged by constant EI's and i remember those sleepless nights! no fun for anyone!
Those are two of my favorite pictures. I am glad you enjoyed them too. Did either of your kids end up having to have tubes? We are discussing that with his doctors.

I hope the Little Prince feels better soon! Ear infections are no fun at all!
Nope, they are NOT fun at all! Especially when the cure for them makes you sick too.

I'm a new reader here, and I am aboard!

Your children are adorable, especially little prince :goodvibes
Hiya Hollywoodhaha...LOVE your user name btw! It's nice to meet you. And I promise, I will update very soon.

Hi Jay! :wave2:

I can't believe I forgot when your WDW trip was! I've been waiting all year for you to go! lol I am so far behind, but trying my best to catch up!
HI THERE! It's good to see you!! How have you been? Glad to see you here. :)

Jay another great report like always. I love the pictures of your little prince it almost makes me want to have another. LOL no way I have 3 and my little guy is a hand full. Take care and I can't wait to read more.

I don't usually feel the "pinch" of four because he is so sweet natured most of the time...however, when he is ear is hurting, all bets are off. And my hands are now beyond full. I told dh I needed a break when he got home...notice my priorities are straight and I came to the DIS. :thumbsup2

Oh, Dear! EARS! Hope baby prince feels better SOONEST and ya'll get some sleep!
Awww, thanks Linda. Email me specifics of your plans when you have them. You know we would all love to see you again!

This is great to hear! Thanks for the info from a "been there done that" Mom. :goodvibes

I hope your Little Prince feels better soon and Momma can get some sleep! Henry has had a cold, which DH and I caught, now Henry feels better but DH is miserable and I'm "eh"....take all the time you need and get well!
Ish, is that "eh" coming down with it or "eh" it's skipping you but you are worn out? I am hoping it's only the second. And I am glad to hear Henry, at least, is on the rebound. Not long now before Henry sees WDW for the very first time! :goodvibes

Hi Jay! I hope your little prince is feeling better! We had sooo many ear infections in our house when the kids were young... not fun :sad2: Hope you guys can get some rest. :flower3:
I will poll you too if you don't mind...did any of the kids ever end up with tubes? None of the older boys ever had them...so I am trying to get as much information and first hand accounts as possible.

:thumbsup2 I'm a newbie to these boards and just discovered the trip reports. I'm totally enthralled, my kids are wondering why they can't get my attention! Your report is awesome, I can't wait for your next report.
WELCOME TO THE DIS!! And to the trip report boards and to this trip report. ;) My family knows that if the computer is on, I am DISing (90% of the time). :rotfl: Just let them know your Disney trips will gain so much from your time here and they won't be wondering anymore! ;) Welcome again and hope to see you around!

:grouphug: That poor little nugget!!! Hope he gets well soon!!!
Nugget...what a cute phrase. And I hope so too. Coming up shortly...the next installment!

Hi Jay, this is in answer to your ear tube poll.... no, we did not have our daughter get tubes even though she had many ear infections. In 5th grade we found her to have Auditory Processing Difficulties (after much testing), which pretty much means she doesn't hear well in certain situations. She is 17 now and is fine but still quite aware of when she can't quite make out certain sounds.... I have often wondered if we had gotten tubes if this would have happened. Ok, waaaay much more than you wanted but there is our story.

Day 3 continued...an evening at the Poly

When we got back to our room, we once again found something unexpected on the comforter...
.
.
.
.
.
.
Would it be as unwelcome as our last surprise?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Would it involve upset?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.NO!! It was a very welcome surprise indeed! We had a nest full of sweet little towel birdies awaiting us.
DisneySept08104.jpg

Along with the nest of new friends we found on our bed, we found this rainbow near the bathroom sinks.
DisneySept08106.jpg

And a bird of a different sort was perched on the clock radio between our beds. Here Stitch is making friends with him. ;)
DisneySept08105.jpg

Actually, it seems as if the towel fairy had paid a visit to our room while we were at DAK and left an entire army of towel animals to welcome us. The boys had a great time gathering them up from their various hiding spots and perches throughout the suite and posing them together on the couch for a group shot.
DisneySept08107.jpg

Look at our good fortune!! Here are our new towel friends posed differently (both Stitch and Aladdin made me promise I would include their specially posed pictures in the TR). Aladdin's picture was above and below you will find how Stitch thought they should be arranged.
DisneySept08108.jpg

When our Little Prince awoke from his nap, he was once again bright eyed and ready to go. He had fun playing in Disney's provided pack-n-play while the rest of us finished up getting ready to go. On this night, we would dress in our island best. Or at least in our gaudiest shirts.
Disney2008238.jpg

On our way from the room to our van, Goofy saw a very small and sort of strange looking rabbit. Look at how short those ears are. The rabbits in our neck of the woods have longer ears and are much bigger. The three bigger boys laughed and laughed over how they had "discovered" a new species. :lmao: Goofy named this new species 'mousebit'.
Disney2008241.jpg

A picture of the discoverers themselves. To have that imagination of a child again! Priceless!
Disney2008239.jpg

Once our discoveries were made and our poses struck, we loaded up in the van and headed over to the Poly. Dh dropped the older three boys and I off right in front of the resort and went to park with the Little Prince along for the ride.

As soon as we walked into the lobby, we were met by a welcoming CM who put a lei around each of our necks...well, at least mine and Aladdin's. Both Stitch and Goofy had zeroed in on the coloring pages in the kid's area of the lobby and had made a bee line over to them. By the time Aladdin and I caught up, we found them already making mini masterpieces. :rotfl:
Disney2008242.jpg

While we waited for dh and our Little Prince to catch up with us, the boys had a good time coloring. Even after they joined us, we let them spend a bit of time coloring. As we did, the greeter found dh (who had snuck in without taking a lei before) and the rest of the boys and made sure they were properly attired. ;) Our Little Prince thought that the lei he had been given was fascinating and it made him giggle.
Disney2008247.jpg

All too soon it was time to stop coloring and start heading up toward the Kona Cafe. As much as the boys wanted to keep coloring, nobody protested as we all remembered the great meal that we had enjoyed there last year. Here is a picture of the boys holding up their partially completed works of art.
Disney2008246.jpg

Along the way I was able to talk them into stopping to pose for one last picture. The requisite waterfall shot. ;)
Disney2008244.jpg

Within a handful of minutes we were seated and trying to make the agonizing decisions of what to eat and what to skip.

Aladdin chose the lump crab cakes with Asian tarter sauce and pineapple relish and fresh greens.
Disney2008255.jpg

I must say, he made an excellent choice and I was very appreciative when he let me "borrow" a few bites! I chose to have the tempura shrimp roll. It was also very good (although I really did love those crab cakes!). The spicy sauce was perfectly paired with the rice/shrimp. It made for a very tasty appetizer. All of the boys thought so too when they shared in a taste test.
Disney2008256.jpg

Dh stuck with his favorite appetizer, the wings. His glazed chicken wings had a drizzle of tangy mustard sauce and toasted sesame seeds on the wings themselves and came with enough "greens" to make a small side salad. He really enjoyed them. They were his favorite chicken wings of the trip (and he ate lots of them).
Disney2008253.jpg

The middle boys each started out with a garden salad. Nothing special, but they both downed them without complaint. Both of them also helped me out with the tempura shrimp roll. Goofy also happily helped dh out with some of those sticky wings. ;)
Disney2008257.jpg

While we were waiting for our main courses, Stitch doodled on his kid's menu and then showed off his gallery of imaginary creatures. All of which were teeth!:lmao: :rotfl: What sort of a kid has teeth as imaginary friends?! HA HA HA...Proudly, my son! ;) He must get his strange ways from dh. Hee hee hee, okay, I admit it, it is more likely me that he gets his 'unique' streak from. :)
Disney2008252.jpg

This may be a good time to mention that our Little Prince was having some flirting fun of his own during our appetizers. By the time our server brought out our smoothies (everyone but Aladdin and I had chosen to get a strawberry banana smoothie...we opted for bottled water and iced tea)she was asking if we had ever thought of arranging our Little Prince's future marriage and offering up her 8 month old daughter if we should be so inclined.:rotfl:

Here is our Little Prince trying (unsuccessfully) to stay awake.
Disney2008249.jpg

Not sixty seconds later....
Disney2008250.jpg

We all loved the umbrellas that came in our drinks. Something about a tiny little paper umbrella just makes you feel good deep down inside!
Disney2008258.jpg

But back to what we had to eat!
drool.gif
For his main course dh chose the filet mignon served with mashed yukon gold potatoes and asparagus. He was VERY happy with his choice.

Aladdin dined upon the pomegranate BBQ pork chop which was served on pan-roasted fingerling potatoes and came with applewood smoked bacon with braised swiss chard. He also loved his meal!

Goofy and Stitch both chose to have the fish of the day. It was grilled mahi-mahi. Instead of rice, they chose french fries as their side. Once again...another winner (or two should I say).

I myself went with the slow roasted prime rib which was served with mashed potatoes and stir-fried broccoli florets. I ate every bite! It was so very good! Even the broccoli tasted out of this world!

Sorry for forgetting to snap pictures of our main courses and desserts, I promise, I do get better at the food shots as our trip goes on. ;)

Here you see a chocolate Lilo and Stitch who stand guard over the dessert choices.
Disney2008259.jpg

Speaking of dessert choices...dh and Aladdin both went with the Kona Kone. Huge waffle ice cream cones filled with ice cream and topped with candy, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and topped with a cherry. Did I mention the cotton candy wrapped around the base of the cone itself?! They were both VERY happy with their choice.

Goofy and Stitch both went with a kid's sundae and highly enjoyed those.

I myself departed from the rest of them and chose to have the banana and chocolate crème brulee. OH ME, this was SOOOOOO good! I highly enjoyed every last drop of this one! It was divine!

By the end of our meal, I think we were all in need of a wheelbarrow to roll in or maybe even just a ramp to roll down. Full and happy we took a slow stroll around the grounds of the Polynesian before heading back to our van and then the WL. Here is the last picture that I snapped of my guys on our way out of the resort. *Make note of the mini umbrellas. ;)*
Disney2008261.jpg

Upon our return to the WL we headed for our room. After everyone was cleaned up and changed into our pajamas, the bigger boys turned on a Disney movie in the sitting room area while dh and our sleeping Little Prince headed for the bedroom and turned on a football game. They all looked content, so I told them I would see them in the morning and snuck out. Before anyone starts to wonder if I roamed the WL in a nightgown, :rotfl: :lmao: let me clarify that I had on flannel pants and a t-shirt (still not "dressed to the nines" but presentable none the less). My first stop was the club lounge to pick up a cup of tea and a bottle (when asked, they had no problem with letting me take an entire huge glass bottle of water with me) of water. I also grabbed a few cookies to take along for later and a supply of cups and napkins. Then I was off to do a bit of shopping. I bought postcards, a fun Mickey Mouse pen, stamps, a paperback book and a warm Disney sweatshirt. Tucking my earlier plunder from the concierge lounge in my bag, I headed for the writing desk that we had found while we explored the lodge. It was here that I penned the postcards I wanted sent (using the postcards, stamps and pen I had just procured) and sipped on the tea (a very good caffeine free 'good night' tea btw) I had brought from the lounge.

Once my postcards were filled out, I threw on my new sweatshirt and took a walk down to the lobby and mailed them. As I did, I called dh on the lodge phone and he reported that our Little Prince was fast asleep, he was in the middle of a football game and the older boys were busy watching a movie. Hearing that and having seen my my well wishes (in the form of postcards) off, I headed back up to fourth floor and found the seating area surrounding the small (not small by normal standards but smaller than the monster sized one in the lobby) fireplace empty. I took advantage of it's emptiness and made myself at home. I kicked off my shoes (thankful I was wearing socks!), put my feet up, poured myself a cup of water, set a few cookies on a napkin within easy reach and then, so well settled, I cracked open my new book. About three hours later I reluctantly used a napkin for a bookmark and headed back to the room. As I crept in, I was happy to see that everyone was fast asleep (except for dh who was logged on to the internet and doing some work...ICK, work at WDW). In a few short minutes, I joined my little boys with dreams of what the day to come would hold...for us, it would be a day at EPCOT!

To be continued...

:cloud9: Oh Jay, what an absolutely adorable group of boys you have! I love the towel animal family and yet again, your food pictures are making me drool! I especially love hearing about all the different resorts; so far, the only time I've stayed on-site has been at Port Orleans Riverside, but I hope to try a Deluxe some day.

Excellent update! You have me absolutely drooling over your pictures (have I mentioned that they're AMAZING?!?!?!) and my heart longing for Florida. Ah... I love the towel animals. :) Your dinner sounds AMAZING as does your relaxing night. I can't wait for more.
And I JUST logged on for the first time in a few days and I certainly hope that your Little Prince is feeling better. :wizard:

Ish, is that "eh" coming down with it or "eh" it's skipping you but you are worn out? I am hoping it's only the second. And I am glad to hear Henry, at least, is on the rebound. Not long now before Henry sees WDW for the very first time! :goodvibes

My "eh" is that it was REALLY bad on Saturday but is very slowly leaving...ish is just the word for it. Ish, ish, ish.

Yep! 18 days for us!! :cloud9:

This is such a great picture! In fact, you have a lot of great pictures in this update. I also love the one of the Little Prince sleeping on DH, and the one with Stitch holding his tiny umbrella up over his head! Too many good ones to comment on that's for sure!

I love Kona Cafe as well, your meal sounds scrumptious! I'd insert my drooling smilie here, but I don't have my photobucket open, and I'm too lazy to open it. :rotfl:

Wonderful Update, Jay!

Your great review on Kona Cafe didn't help my already present, HUGE desire to dine there! ;) Everything there looks/sounds delicious!

Okay, I laughed out loud at the fact Stitch drew teeth! :lmao: :rotfl: :confused3 How funny!

Your night alone sounded really nice :goodvibes

Wow, all those towel animals are so cute, how lucky that you had such a fun mousekeeper. :goodvibes

Your meal at Kona sounds delicious, I have seen pictures of the Kona Cone, that dessert would be a meal on its own it is so big! :lmao:

We spotted that great "reading" area from the 7th floor one day
and also took advantage of it to read the library books we brought
along! It was so comfy to just sit back and relax with the beauty
of the Lodge surrounding!
Mike , one of the CM's at the
Concierge Desk on 7, was an absolute doll, and kept us supplied
with water too! There wasn't a day that he didn't greet us with
our name,,,and remembered what we were doing the day before
and asked how it all went!!
A real charmer:)
We were there 9/15 thru 9/22!!!!!!!!:flower3:

Great update and pics! You hit the towel animal lottery  . I love Kona cafe too. My kids love that kiddie cone. We didn't eat there this year because my DH isn't crazy about it. Also I wanted to stay away from the Poly ;) because I knew DD and I would be missing it so much. Looking forward to your Epcot update popcorn:: .

Those are two of my favorite pictures. I am glad you enjoyed them too. Did either of your kids end up having to have tubes? We are discussing that with his doctors.

Yes, both kids ended up with tubes. DD had her tubes put in on her 1st birthday. :guilty: She had 1 EI after that, about 4 months later, right at the start of the winter season. She hasn't had another one since, 4 years later!!!

DS had his tubes put in at 14 months. His, unfortunatly, are not working well at all. He had also had the 1-2 EI the fall after his were put in, then in the spring, 1 yr post tube, he started getting them again. He had about another 5 EI's last summer and fall, and I think he may be getting yet another one now that sinus season has started. We have talked about putting another set in, but I'm hesitant to do it. What's the point, the 1st set didn't work, why put in another one. But I've also got him on daily Zyrtec now for his allergies so hopefully that will cut down on his EI's. We'll see.

Yeah for a great dinner at Kona!! Sounds so yummy! I want to try that Creme Brulee!! And wow all those towel animals!! How cute and fun! I love them! what a relaxing evening you had!! I love those!

I love all of these pictures! You have done a great job capturing all of your boys. You will have nice photos and memories to look back on! The sweetest picture is of the Little Prince asleep in your DH's arms. :flower3:
I have always wanted to eat at the Kona Cafe and now I know we WILL go the next time we go down to Disney! I love all of the Hawaiian atmosphere!

what a wonderful.... and relaxing evening:goodvibes

i loved Kona.... and the CONE... for me it was heaven :lovestruc

and as usual... love the detail and the pictures.. thanks for your time!:)

Phew! I did it! I've caught up. And we in the pikaboo household are doing great.

Jay, all your kids are cuter than a box of buttons, especially your Little Prince. I’m glad you had a great time at Yak and Yeti. DH and I both loved our lunch there in January. I wish we had had as good a time at Kona Kafe and Whispering Canyon as you and yours did. Though I can't entirely blame Whispering Canyon because at the time we were there I was the carrier of the viral plague and was way too sick to get into the fun. I just wanted food, robitussin and sleep at that point. But sometimes I think it comes down to your server. We have a rating system that we use "Magical/Not Magical" when it come to CMs and sometimes a "Not Magical" CM can really hurt your experience. Our CM at Whispering Canyong would disapear for ages at a time. As for Kona, the food was fabu, especially DH's Kona Cone, but our server was a total Grumpy-pants. Now Megan at Le Cellier, there is a keeper. Just "Magical." She was completely awesome and is still our favorite server to date. We had one meal with her 10 months ago and I still remember her name, she was so great. We actually asked for a manager, just to tell them how great she was. We often do that when we have truly "Magical" service. Anyone who gets great service, should say something. We met a CM a year after we had made a point to say something about how great he was and the manager wrote everything we said down and made a point in a staff meeting of reading what we had said. That CM still had the note the manager wrote, because it made him feel good to know someone had cared enough to let someone know that he had been great. Anywho, sorry to ramble.

I’m glad you are having a great trip and I can't wait to read more!

Sounds like you found a great place to get away for some "me time". That time is especially great when you are around your family 24-7. Kona looks fabulous.

Great update!!! The special time you took for reading time by the fireplace sounds heavenly!!!1

I just gotta say that this picture of Aladdin really shows just how grown up he is getting!! He is getting to be so handsome - and as evidenced by the picture of all four boys with him holding LP- I'm sure he's just as sweet on he inside! You are doing such a great job Mama!!!! Keep it up!!!
