15mo AP question

Hi there,

I am debating getting the 15mo AP. I have never had an AP at Universal.

Question is that I won't be able to use until May for a single day then will be moving to FL in mid July.

Would it be worth it to get the pass before promo ends (3/31) knowing that flex pay will make it begin right away but I won't be able to use it?

Or am I better off to just wait and try to bridge a single day ticket to an AP in May?

Thank you!

I don't have an answer for you, but I would consider the price of resident vs. non-resident AP in your math. It might work to get a single day ticket in May, then get a FL resident AP in July.

The price diff is sadly only $40. But yes I have wondered the same thing about being a FL resident vs not. Thank you!

I'd buy it now. You will get the extra 3 months and your pass doesn't start until you activate it. So, you could consider May, June and July the bonus months and the May day to be a free day. Since the other option would be to wait until say August to buy a pass, which would only be good for a year. Plus with Universal having record crowds lately, prices aren't going down. The only downside to buying now will be the payments you make before you use them. But, those are minimal.

This is the third time I've read on 2 different UO message boards that if you buy the 15 month AP using Flexpay that activation starts the day you purchase it. A month ago we purchased 4 Preferred AP's for 15 months using the Flexpay and I read the fine print and it says it gets activated the day of first use. I'm on hold right now with UO and am going to ask this question because we don't go until June and our 15 month pass would be down to almost 10 months if it's activated the day we purchased it and I don't want it then. I'll let everyone know what UO tells me.

I just got off the phone with UO Guest Services after a 90 minute wait and the agent said that whether you pay in full or by Flexpay for the 15 month AP the activation date for both is the first day you enter a park with it. That's exactly what the fine print with my Flexpay order says. I just want to clarify that for everyone.

Thank you for this confirmation!!!

I am going in Nov, and wanted to buy the AP tomorrow for the 3 free months but the husband rather we wait, trip is 80% confirmed but he rather but put money out this far just in case. My argument is well even if Nov gets moved, we will go and AP isn't activated until then. He asked will they have another promo maybe end of summer that would be better to wait for? He also wanted to know if we are only going 1 time in a year what does the 3 free months matter, which I shrugged but really plan to say well why not get one more use in LOL

I think its extremely unlikely there will be a better deal. Demand is high now and will get higher as people go back to normal. I'd buy the passes and book the hotel rooms now.

For example, one of the premier hotel rooms we booked for early May was originally rack rate just under 300. When they came out I got the passholder rate of ... I forget but a LOT cheaper. With Spring Break demand and parks at capacity those rooms cost around 600.

With the 15 months, if you go Nov 2021, you could go back Jan 2023 and still be on the passes.

I did already book the resort, only $188 for a lagoon king at SF - that blew my mind LOL - I am planning to keep eye on the AP rates once/if they drop but even without it's a steal. We toyed with booking RP but for the $110 more a night we will be covered for meals/Epcot tickets.

Going Jan 2023 was my thought but I also know Oct 2022 we are doing a big trip for my Bday so it may be hard to convince him LOL
