I lost 2.6lbs this week bringing me to 165.8...only 6 more lbs and I will be in the 150's...WOOOHOOO!!!!

WOW!!! Dizneyfan!!! You are getting me sooo excited to see you reach the 150's! :) YAHOO!!!

Wendy~ You are soo good with freezing the Halloween Candy...we just finished ours off..luckily I had 3 children and a husband to help, but boy we loaded up on the good chocolate stuff...atleast it was mostly fun size's or mini's...but confession I had probably 5 pieces a day this past week....now it's all gone so I have no excuse...the good news is I've stuck to my walking 20-24 miles for 2 weeks! I feel much better and have more energy and TOM started on Halloween so that explains me caving into the chocolate, just could not resist! :)

Tiggerkeeper!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: 45 pounds??? You are my hero!! That is OUTSTANDING! BRILLIANT!!! Your husband will be amazed!! :) So, again, let us know how you've done it for your 45th! I turn 40 next September and fully expect to be 150 by then...so I'd love to hear some of your best tips! :) I've lost 60 (kept 55 off) but I still need that encouragment of how to's! :)

Maria! Wish I could see you in Nashville! It's supposed to be nice and warm this week (70's) so hopefully, you'll feel the urge to walk around and see the Vandy campus...I should bring my dogs and kids up there and take you sight seeing! :)

Dona!! Boy scout orders should be ending for you soon! Hope you're not too sacked with all the moms calling you and such....I do the same thing and take on too much but then I think, there's a deadline and it will end sometime! :) KUDOS for you for being such a helpful mom! :)

Guys, I have just been sooo busy! But, being busy is not going to get me to 150 by next September...but I have been walking 4 miles every morning...missed yesterday so that's my off day this week (rained allll day)...it's raining this morning, but I can fit in a 4 miler with the kids by taking their bikes and letting them ride while I walk fast with the dogs on a local trail. I have officially sworn off any leftover candy...heck, it's all milk duds and whoppers which I hate so I should manage well! CRaving more veggies and fruits so I know I must have eaten too much chocolate!

I want to wear my size 12's comfortably by Christmas...crept back into the 14's and I hate it!

I love seeing those number reported and going down!!! I am hoping to report some good losses soon! I lost 4 for October (not bad but not the 10 I hoped for!) so November is going to be the month I shoot for maintaining my walking and eating well!

Let's do it! Kathy! You are a trooper and I'm sooo impressed with what you've managed to maintain with your injuries!! You're the best!!!

Tara

SO good to see some action!

Wow! DisneyFan! Going to be there before you know it! I need to push that extra mile to get to a higer level of exercise. This crazy ear issue isn't helping me. I can't lean over, lay down (unless I want to hear the roaring in my ears) to do much. I am still walking. (LOL almost typed wailing!) Still watching diet. Today had a green salad with tomatoes and low fat ham on it. Dinner was gluten free pasta and a sauce with mushrooms and turkey meat balls. Oh, I did have a cottege cheese and fresh fruit salad as well as a low fat gluten free muffin. Sometimes I am so hungry, I plan elaborate meals in my mind, and places I could actually go and have them, then I wack myself on the forehead and pull my baggy pants back up and thank my inner self for not listening to my wild mind meanderings. Lord, help me! I know there are frozen chocolate bars in the freezer, but I will resist! Of course DH will ask me what do I thinkg I am doing, and I will admit considering, but won't do! Thank goodness for him!

Well ladies, a few more things to catch up on, then out to visit the ATM--it's about 2 miles as a round trip walk. DS needs money for his college apps that he is taking into school tomorrow! They do grow up fast! Don't think I am going to handle this!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Aw Wendy, your post made me laugh! I do the same meals, where to go to get them and then find a reason other than my "diet" not to go. LOL! :teeth:

I have discovered there are some pretty funny side effects of losing weight....we have A LOT of trees in our yard and those trees have A LOT of leaves....and leaves must fall - it is a fact of nature. Well, the kids gave me an ipod for my b-day so I went out tonight and blew leaves with the ipod raging in my ears (The Fray) before long I found myself dancing up the driveway. The neighbors must think I am a nut (they should know by now). Before I lost the weight there would be no way I could have walked up the driveway without getting winded much less dance. Geez, the kids would have been embarassed!!! :rotfl: I guess I am no longer invisible!

Tara, candy is baaaaad!!!! You can get into those 12's heck, 10's! YOU CAN DO IT!! :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

As far as a weight loss plan I have cut out red meat, upped the fish intake (Yuck) eat one salad meal a day with protein, the other meal is 2 veggies and a protein. Oatmeal and protein for breakfast. Snacks are fruit and dairy.
Gotta watch the fat, cholesterol and sodium. My blood pressure is normal now so I am hoping I can talk the doctor into cutting out the meds.

C'mon everybody let's hear some reports!! :woohoo:

Oh yeah Melissa, I know the 'invisible' deal. You are right about after some weight loss, I am seen places no one would have considered before. Don't know if you will catch me dancing up the drive way :rotfl: but maybe hanging out in the yard watering or puttering around. Hmmm...maybe the dancing should begin!

Great week to all!

Wendy

I haven't seen too many good things about losing weight. I had lost about 25 pounds and I am still in the just about the same size. It is getting close to the end of the year and I have not lost the weight that I wanted to this year. I feel like I am ready to give up but I have come too far. My girlfriend went and lost 30 pounds and looks wonderful. I know that I look better than I did 2 years ago but I feel like nothing is working and I also am mad at myself for not working as hard as I could. I don't seem to be as motivated as I was during the summer. Maybe it is that time of the year where you realize that the year is coming to an end and you haven't accomplished everything that you wanted to.

Sorry to be such a downer this morning. I think I better get ready to get some things done. I have a day off today and I better take advantage of it.

Tomorrow is Scouting for Food. I hope we get a lot. That always makes me feel better. I will going out with some scouts to help collect this year. Usually I sit and do the assignements but I think I will be in a car driving scouts around. THen I think I will try to set up some things for Christmas. I almost have my letter put together in my head. I am also not worrying about a picture this year. In my letter I will put a picutre of my older son when he graduate from Community college, a picture of my other son and husband when they went hiking this past summer and then a picture of my sister and I from our trip to DW when we were at tea.

Hope everyone has a great day

Hang in there!! You don't see the results as clearly yourself because you see "you" every day. It's like having your hair grow...you haven't hit the "tipping point" yet. I have been working at taking the pounds off since spring and now, all of a sudden, *everyone* seems to be noticing....this just the past couple of weeks. So--hang in there! 25 lbs is a lot. Carry around a few bags of flour in a backpack for an hour or so, then take it off and see how much better you feel!!! It makes a difference.

Dona, don't allow yourself to be down too long cause you have made some major accomplishments...For one, you decided to do something about your weight. Think about all the energy you put into just thinking about it. Then you chose to act!! That's HUGE!! And then, you lost 25 pounds !! What a great start...now finish the job! Don't let all the work you've done thus far be for not! YOU and I both know you can do it! :cheer2: Your joints, heart, arteries and veins are soooooo thankful for that 25 pound loss...they'd love to have some more!

I had to give myself a tush whupping this week too! Now, I am back and ready to finish the job.

You've got all of us cheering for you! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the kind words. I really needed them today.

Dona! It's alright! 25 pounds is great! I too have been at a very slow loss currently! I know it is only temporary. You are already healthier and will be more so as time goes on! Here's a hug  and lots of good wishes for you!

I recently had a down day. Even thought I would bring on the water works. Almost did, but just came down here, put in a few messages, and felt amazingly better!

Best for the rest of the weekend! Hope your food drive goes well! That means we will see them here! We always donate.

Best to all!

Wendy

Where is everyone today? I hope you all had a great Sat. My van is filled with about 70 bags of groceries from the food drive today. ONe of the committee (the one who was a pain with the popcorn order) was supposed to contact two people about the food pickup. She never did. The food pantry that I was going to the lady was in Atlantic City at a the teacher's convention so I will see her tomorrow. I just hope the shocks on my car hold out. Luckuly the only thing I am gooing to do tomorrow is go to church and then the bagel shop for my weekly bagel.

Yesterday I went grocery shopping for the first time in two weeks. I bought stuff to make and put into the freezer. I have a bactch of chocolate chip cookie dough, some mini meatloafs, I will be putting in meatballs and sausage, some meatballs with rice which I will cook in brown gravy or make a mock stuffed cabbage with some. I am also cooking a pork to make pulled pork and a chicken tomorrow which I will cut up to use for lunches and sandwiches after we have dinner tomorrow night. I know with Christmas and THanksgiving coming this will make my life a little easier. I want to put some cookie dough into the freezer so when I have to go somewhere all I have to do it tak out some cookies and bake it. (When I make cookie dough I scoop it out to the size cookies I usually make (mine are usually fairly small) and then freeze it on a cookie sheet and when they are hard then put into a container)

Well I have to go. I hope everyone's weekend is going great

Donac...hang in there!! Good luck with getting all that food unloaded.

As for "where is everyone" I spent the afternoon trying to find a dress to make me look like a million bucks. No luck yet, although it was a happy thing that nearly everything I took into the dressing room fit, even if it turned out to be not exactly flattering to my figure type! ...the search continues. :sunny:

Good evening! I am sadly reporting a 2 lb. gain, ugh TOM. Hopefully that will disappear next week. Yesterday I spent 2 1/2 hours cutting grass and picking up leaves with the bucket attachments. I think that would be a good upper body workout for the Biggest Loser Teams! They could come do my yard any time. ;) Started the home repairs today :cool1: ....glad to be getting those projects from hanging over my head.

Tara, I am in shock! I was absolutely floored when I read the football score! My Dawgs pulled a rabbit out of the hat! And the one time I was really pulling for the Gamecocks they couldn't pull out a win over Florida. Hope you had a good weekend!! :goodvibes

Coaster, it sounds like you are really enjoying shopping these day! Doesn't it feel good! Good luck with finding that knock 'em dead dress!!

Dona, you are so ahead in the holiday game. Smart thinking to do all that cooking! Doesn't it seem like there is always one person that has to make things difficult :sad2: Hope you find somewhere to take that food!

Well gang, I go in for my CT scan Tuesday morning hopefully the spot on my pancreas hasn't changed and nothing further will have to be done! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Have a great week! Don't give up and don't give in! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi everyone.

We got the food delivered yesterday afternoon in the rain. I am always fo happy to help this food pantry. They do such good work and they really appreciate all that we do for them.

Coaster I hope you find a dress that you like. I know it is hard. I spent some time on Thursday just looking for a new blouse to wear to a party and I didn't like any that I tried on. I did do some online shopping. I saw a blouse in the store but didn't like the color. When I went on line they had it the best colors. I should like the fit, it is a wrap type blouse. I got it in light blue, pink and ivory.

Melissa pixiedust: for a good CT scan. I hope everything goes well.

Off to work after a 4 day weekend The kids will be in a strange mood. They always are after a long weekend.

Hi Ladies!

I'm back from Nashville! It was so gorgeous -- nearly 80 degrees and sunny :sunny: . Definitely a great break, and luckily for me a great conference. My hotel even upgraded me to concierge, and I have no idea why?! :cool1:

Since most of the meals were provided, I didn't have alot of choices. They were also "working" meals, so I couldn't duck out and find something else. On the bright side, seeing all the people even larger than I around me was very motivating. ::yes::

Yesterday I got back on the TM, and dh has arranged for the repair person to come on Friday, so I should really be able to use it this weekend. It has an issue with incline and speed, so I've been using it very gingerly. Now I'll be able to work harder! :yay:

I'm also thinking more about my eating, and I can't wait to get "You: On a Diet". It's at the library as I write, so tonight I'm going to dive into it. As long as it isn't too quacky, I intend to follow it for a few months to see what happens. When it was featured on Oprah, they had women who had lost alot of weight in a few months. That's the kind of jumpstart I need! I eat way too much sugar and carbs, so if I have a meal plan in front of me, that's always better.

Dona -- Thank you for your work with the food pantry. Hunger is a huge problem in this country, which is shameful. A lot of food pantries need to get everything they can this time of year, because for some reason donations get really slim the rest of the year. People eat year-round (duh!), so this stock up season is very important. I'm getting off my soapbox now, but thank you again for helping others! :grouphug:

Melissa -- I hope your CT scan went well. TOM unexpectedly appeared for me Friday night, so I understand your pain! Thanks for the encouragement. I am not going to give up. At this point I can't quite, so the only thing I can do is keep trying until I succeed!

CoasterAddict -- Did you find that fabulous dress?! I have a love/hate shopping relationship with clothes... :confused3

Wendy -- How are you feeling? Those inner ear things can make you crazy. We literally didn't go out in public for a year when my dh had a virus. He had vertigo like you wouldn't believe...oh, wait, I bet you would!

Tara -- I am so proud of you for creating a new walking habit! You are doing great. But you're right, being busy is not getting us where we want to be. There are 47 days until January 1st. We have six weeks to make a real difference. If we make a commitment now and stick with eating and exercise, we will be very happy in six weeks. At 2 lbs. a week, that would be 12 lbs.! :bounce:

Disneyfanz04 -- I am so proud of you! You are doing it! Please share some of your methods for those of us that are floundering a bit... :scared:

Linda, Kathy, and everyone else -- Six weeks. In six weeks, we start a new year. I don't want to have the same New Year's resolutions -- I want to be ahead of the game by starting now. Let's get a jump on all those January losers! pixiedust:

Maria

Hi Again!

I got "You: On a Diet", and stayed up 'til midnight reading it. I'm about halfway through. It is an easy read, and very informative about what is going on in your body. I peeked ahead at the 2-week starter diet, and it looks pretty reasonable. I'm up to the exercise session, and I can commit to it -- walking 30 minutes every day, 20 min cardio 3x/wk, and strength training twice, plus 5 minutes of stretching daily.

I'm going to make one of those charts I love to keep track. I'm starting the diet Saturday, using the lunch and dinner recipes. I'm already working on the breakfast and snacks. I am going to follow it faithfully, and see if I do indeed lose 2 inches in my waist in two weeks. That would mean comfortably fitting into all those new pants I bought, so I am onboard! I haven't had a piece of candy, cookie, or cracker all day, which is big for me. I snacked on 12 almonds, an apple and carrots. Oh! I almost forgot the best part -- you get dessert every other day, and it can be 1 oz. of dark chocolate. I am a chocoholic, so that is huge! I'm going to have grapes and more almonds in a bit to tide me over until dinner.

After work I'm hitting the TM while dh makes broiled haddock and veggies for dinner. Woohoo! I am on my way!

Maria

Maria,
What kind of things can you eat on this diet. The one website I was reading mentioned walking every day, doing yoga everyday and doing some strength training a couple of times a week. THis is a plan I have been thinking about for the last week.

Hi Dona!

One of the principles of the diet is that you eat the same thing for most meals and snacks -- not the exact same thing, but within a range.

Dinner needs to be the meal I vary (since my whole family is eating), so I'm giong to eat within the groups for breakfast, lunch and snacks. For Breakfast, you can either have 1) cooked oat cereal w/4 ounces of skim/soy milk, and a fistful of your favorite fruit or 1 c. Kashi high fiber or cold oat cereal (like Cheerios) with the milk and fruit 2) egg-white omelet (3 egg whites and 1 whole egg) plus cut up mixed veggies or 2 scrambled, poached or hard boiled eggs with 2 pieces of lean turkey sausage or tofu sausage 3) 1 slice toasted whole wheat bread w/1 tsp. peanut butter or 1 tsp. apple butter or avocado spread or 4) a choice between two smoothies, recipes in the book.

This is pretty easy for me to follow. All I have to do is add fruit to my cereal. Lunches and snacks follow the same principle. There are also a few fast food options (Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc.), so you can eat in a hurry when you need to. I would encourage you to get the book from the library. I know I'm going to buy it, but I like to start out borrowing it to see if it's feasible for me.

The two-week starter diet is really one week with exchangeable recipes for dinner. The recipes all take less than half an hour, and look pretty tasty. You can also do substitutions any time you don't like the fruit or vegetable, so that helps. The first week I am eating Asian Salmon with Brown Rice Pilaf; Spicy Chili; Mediterranean Chicken with Tomato, Olives and Herbed White Beans; Royal Pasta Primavera Provencale; Apricot Chicken and Green Beans with Almond Slivers and Broiled Trout with Rosemary and Lemon. The entree for Thursday is Turkey Tortilla Wraps with Baked Potato. Since next Thursday is Thanksgiving, I have to be a little more flexible. I'm going to have turkey, mashed potatoes, and green beans, and a slice of cherry pie. The cherry pie is not on the diet, but I will feel so deprived if I don't eat it, it's not worth it.

This book has some really new ideas about weight loss, thinking about it, and how you view it when you inevitably eat something not so good, which it accepts upfront that you will. Maybe the ideas aren't new, but they are to me and it's causing me to do some thinking.

I'm working from home today, so I'm off to do my 30 minutes of daily walking. You have to walk 30 minutes every day, no excuses. That seems pretty reasonable to me. :cool1:

Let me know if you want more information. As I learn more, I'm sure I'll be sharing. I feel excited and energized, and it's not from a sugar high! :goodvibes

Maria

Maria,
I am a book fiend and so I went out and bought the book. I saw a program about this diet last night on Discovery and it sounded so good that I went out and bought the book this morning. I like the idea about eating the same thing everyday. I am very much a creature of habit so this works for me. I also will be varying my dinner since I too have to cook for my family. I like the idea of being able to eat out also.

There is a lot of information in this book but it does not seem fadish like other books. I know that I can't do Atkins or SB since that really messes with my stomach so I need to go with as much fiber as possible so I like what he has to say about fiber.

What is everyone doing for THanksgiving? Do you have to clean and cook or are you going somewhere? I get to do both. My in laws stove is not working so I am cooking the turkey and a ham since the turlkey is small and then bringing it 40 miles south to my in laws. THis is easier than cleaning and cooking and it is making it easier for my mother in law who has had some health problems in the last year. I will also be bringing some raw veg and dip so that I can have something to eat while everyone else is munching on chips and nachos. I will also be bringing the pies but I don't have to cook them. My ds's school is selling pies as a fundraiser so I bought some. I will take some to my in laws and then freeze a couple for Christmas.

Hope everyone is doing well. Talk to you soon

Hi Everyone!

My home computer is having issues :badpc: , so I may be only accessing the internet at work for a few days. If we need a new computer, I guess it'll be longer -- we won't have time to get a new one until this weekend, so bear with me!

I am loving "You: On a Diet"! So far we've had two of the dinners, and they were fabulous! I also really like the snacks, and I've even switched to 72% cacao chocolate. It's intense, but really satisfying. :teeth:

Unfortunately, our TM won't be repaired until this weekend or early next week. The repairman had to order some parts, so we have to wait. I can walk on it, but no jogging. I'm starting the YOU workout tonight after my walk. It's lots of stretching and calisthenics, but it seems very doable.

Our Thanksgiving is going to be very simple. We'll just stay home and watch the parades and football. I'm eating turkey, mashed potatoes and green beans, plus a piece of cherry pie. I haven't been craving candy or other sweets, so I'm pretty pleased about that. We're also have the YOU Salsamole dip with veggies to snack on. My dh is having cheese and crackers, so this will give me something I can enjoy as well.

I haven't got on the scale yet, but my waist is already smaller! :Pinkbounc I know this because I put on a skirt this morning that was a trifle uncomfortable last week, and it went on today without a wince! I'm really hoping to lose 2 inches in 2 weeks.

I taught Sunday School for the first week of my session (10 weeks) yesterday. I have 2nd & 3rd graders. I really had a great time with the kids. Next week we are using modeling clay to make our own commandents tablets. I only have about 20 minutes with them (Sunday school happens during the sermon, gospels, etc.), so I think it's going to be easy to fill the time.

I've been walking 30 minutes every day. I like the consistency. I always have trouble with sticking with it, and this is something I can manage every single day.

Everyone hang in there and have a fantastic holiday! :ccat:
