Ok... Sure.... I decide to get back on track and the summer challange was just what I needed, Well TOM shows up today.... I'm going to weigh in tomorrow, and with any luck by next Monday I hope to see a decline. Hell, I BETTER see a decline.

So I pulled a BIG CASSIC NO-NO Last night. My dd Ellissa (age 11) went to her first dance. It was for CYO and this is the first dance 5th graders are allowed to attend. Anyway, when I picked her up, we got in the car, and I ask how it was. WWWWWEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL you would have thought you needed a boat for the tears that began flowing. She said it was horrible!!! So I asked what happend, and as it turns out, my girl is very brave and decided she was going to ask boys to dance. Well she said they told her they would dance with her, and than when it came time to, they would just walk away. She went on to say how her and her friend Jill were the ONLY girls who didn't dance. I quickly explained that boys don't really like girls at this age and yada yada yada. She than told me that those same boys danced with some of her other friends. So, her mother, that would be me says "would ice cream make you feel better?" So now I've started on turning my daughter to food for comfort. Now to give myself some credit, I order SMALL blizzards instead of LARGE. So this morning we are in the car, and I decided to find out what her approach was. I asked if she asked the boy to dance when the song she wanted to dance to was on. NOPE! So I quickly explained that this was probably her first mistake, since boys can't read our minds and KNOW which song she was asking them to dance to. I told her she needed to ask them at the beginning of the song, she wanted to dance to. I said Boy's need clear, concise directions and without them, they have no clue as to what we want. So today she is feeling better and I am feeling guilty. Next time, I'll offer an apple.

So tomorrow I'll post my TOM start weight on my fridge and be on my way down the weight loss path again.

OK, sorry so long. Sorry if I offended any of our male counterparts, but she is now clued in that boys are JERKS as she put it.

Good morning Loser's....

So, here's my story and I'm sticking to it. I got home after doing the papers with Ellissa, stepped on the scale and nothing happened. NADA, ZiLCH, absolutly nothing popped up on the scale. Now I have lost weight in the past, but not so much that even the scale is having a hard time registering. So, since I'm of average intelligence, I deduce the battery in the thing is DEAD. Have no fear, I can still weigh, since I have a back up one. So I pull the back up out of the closet, and step on. Well, I must have lost a TON of weight, because that one two is not showing any numbers. Now should I really start thinking   :cheer2: :yay: that I am so thin and fit that this scale is also not reading my weight. :confused3 NO I decide I had better say that this scales batteries are dead as well. So while I won't weigh in this am, I will go to the store to get some batteries, so that I can weigh in tomorrow.

As for my goal, I'm going to try for 30 lbs.

HELP ME LADIES!!!! That is a BIG number.....

Linda, where in the Chicagoland area are you located? Im in Bolingbrook...but then my signature says that too....

Tracy..my scale is teasing me.....I walk (and yes I walked 2 days this week and then worked out moving beds and putting new beds together) and I eat right, but the scale says Im GAINING?? Whats up with that one?????? I think your scale and mine are trying to tease us!

Hello everyone! Here is my weigh in! I am starting the summer at 216, and I am going to give myself a goal of 16 pounds, so that on my 45th birthday in September I am at 200!

So Tara, I am starting at 216, and my goal is to be at 200! Let's go everyone!
I am very excited! :hyper:

Hello! Hmm...I live in West Michgan, so it would be a drive to be a walking buddy. Maybe walking at the same time as some of us--if able to coordinate I would love to do--might help. Do you have a dog? Our aussie is my walking buddy more than anyone else, but my hubby and DD do come a few times a week. I know it helps to have someone with you. I also have found that listening to broadway musicals help me to walk longer. My DD is so into Phantom of the Opera, that I will take her CD and listen to it. I have a complilation of Andrew Lloyd Weber's tunes, and most are lively and keep me going, and singing!

Best of luck!

Wendy

I usually take my ipod and listen to either a book on tape or a podcast....

Our puppy is too hyper to go for walks with me...<sigh>

ME ME ME...I would LOVE to join the SUMMER CHALLENGE.

My starting weight as af today is 176lbs...I would like to be to my Weight Watchers goal weight by August 3rd, which is my birthday, and then see how I look and feel, but I am starting to think I may want to be down near 135 instead of 145lbs. But like I said 145 by Aug. 3rd, and then MAYBE 135 by the end of summer.

I really need to kick it up a notch 30 pounds in 9 weeks is very inrealistic, but I am going to try my darndest to get there...I am going to up the exercise and cut out most of the carbs and see how far that gets me. I am also going to be drinking my usual 128oz of water a day.

COME ON GUYS...WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2
BTW my IRL name is Michelle. :goodvibes

Chrismiss! Do you realize in 16 weeks you could be in the 150's????? A loss of 1-2 pounds a week is very realistic and you are just 18 pounds away from 159!!! So don't be discouraged be ENCOURAGED that you're soooo close! :) :):)

Tracy...I'm going for 35 so I know what you mean..it's an aggressive number to lose in 16 weeks...but it is DOABLE!!! I have a great family trip planned in September so that will help keep me focused...do you have a treat for yourself that will help you get there? Or maybe a dream outfit? My dream jeans are hanging on my closet door...I WILL WEAR THEM ON MY TRIP! :) That will mean lots of walking and no fries or sweets....I think we can do it! :)

eandj....scales can be deceiving...the walking could have made your body store more water..whenever you change your lifestyle from sedentary to active...it thinks you're preparing for some marathon and will reserve energy stores...so keep it going and you'll see it pay off for sure next week! I expect some good losses to post next week! I'd be your walking buddy if I were close!!! :)

Wendy...."He's there, the Phantom of the OPERAAAAAAAAAA...
.AHHHHAHAAHAHAHAHHHHHH!!!" Oh man, my girls love to try and hit that high note and in an enclosed space like a minivan it can be torture! :) But it's cute that they love the music...so I try to tell them how much they're improving as my ears are begging for mercy! :) Keep up the great start!!! You'll have progress throughout the summer with that attitude! :)

Michelle!!! You're another 150 Contender!!! You could EASILY be there this summer....I want to put your name on that front page! Let's rack up the 150'ers and we'll see you on down to the 140's too!!!!

Off to walk my dogs...kids are at vacation Bible school...coughing up a storm from remnants of a chest cold but I'm getting out there!!!!

I've updated goals and weights on our Monday check in post....so each week we'll see those numbers CHANGE!!!! :)

First day to a GREAT SUMMER!
Tara

Since everyone else is putting down their weight I might as well too.

I am starting at 195. I don't know where I wil be at the end of the summer. I can never predict when I will lose weight. I would love to be at 185 because then technically I would move from obese to overweight.

Good luck everyone.

My weight in this morning was 178. Monday's are the worst for me because I never seem to be home on the weekend so food and water consumption suffer. I eat too much and don't drink enough, except maybe soda.

My goal for this week is to drink no soda, and exercise every day.

Let's get these pounds off and have a healthier life.

I think I'm going to aim for 15 pounds. Losing anything will be a struggle because A) I forgot to WI this morning and will do it tomorrow morning, no fail. and B) my job is a health-u-pational hazard! I do have to work for a little bit today and I've been walking to the library (about 10 minutes from my house on a good day) every weekday I can so that's a step in the right direction. Eating hasn't been so well, though-too many "el carbos" and not enough "frutas (fruits), verduras (veggies) o meatos (meats...I totally spoofed that translation :teeth: ) I will finish out today stronger than I did this AM. I did get like, 10 baby carrots with my lunch and am drinking water like there's no tomorrow.

My goals for the rest of the week are to attempt to not eat anything at work and to get at least 10 minutes of non-walking-to-the-library exercise done every day!

Okay-half of today's battle is done. I got reallyreallyreally hungry at work-2 hotdogs. And a chicken sandwich :sad2: But on the bright side, I did get to play "tennis" for 13 minutes!

Okay-so I've come to the conclusion today was NOT NOT n-o-t NOT a good eating day. To top off this hotdog and sandwich fest, we had pizza. Tons of pizza.

I'm gonna WI tomorrow, hope for the best, expect the worst, and be absurdly happy with anything in between! Gotta start somewhere, right?!

Good morning everyone.

I have gotten back to walking somewhat. Last night I walked for 45 min. I was much slower than before but I am easing back into it so I don't re-injure the foot.

I have gone back into PT to strengthen the shoulder I had surgery on last summer. I did not rehab it right the first time around due to the commitment to be on Long Island so much. I will do it right this time around. It will not affect my exercising.

I have a meeting with a trainer at Kelly Lyn today. It is a women's only gym. I hope to see some pounds start to come off.

Eating is still not going well. I am managing to get about 80 oz of water in. I even managed to get thru yesterday with no soda.

Jen - take one day at a time. Start with a small goal like getting you water in for a couple of days , then add eating less at work. Don't try to do everything at once.

Tara - thanks for starting this challenge. It should motivate a lot of us to get off the couch and get moving. I have no excuses of having to spend time with family and still find it difficult to motivate myself.

Linda - since we are starting at about the same weight, we can do this together. Let's keep moving and watch our bodies melt.

Debra - you will get back to your goal weight. You did it once and can get there again. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Dona - keep up with the exercise. Combine it with eating better and you should start to see some weight changes. You will also build muscle which will heldp with the weight loss.

Wendy and Michelle - welcome to the group. Good luck on you healthier you journey.

Maria - how is the marathon training going. I haven't decided which race to do in Jan. My oldest is going Goofy so if I do the full, she will walk it with me. Have to see how the foot does before deciding.

Neeed to get to work. Have a geat day everyone.

[FONT]Hi all- I am very new to the boards and really have been struggling with how to subscribe to certain boards and finding where to go to read them. I didn't think I was computer illiterate but perhaps I am!

I am VERY interested in joining the 150s club which I haven't seen in many years. I am committed to seeing it this summer. I have the exercise thing under control as I run several times a week. My biggest issue is the WATER. I just don't make the effort to drink it.

Also, does anyone have a really good web site or software suggestion for tracking food? For me, it's all about weighing and measuring. If I don't weigh and measure and write it down, it doesn't work. I hope to be able to support you all in your individual quests!
:cheer2:

Kris from sunny (finally) MA

Thanks for that reminder Kathy. I've been so off track that I forgot that. Thanks!

Well. I weighed in. 196. That was the exact weight I started with on my first day at WISH.

Today's goals are exercise and being nicer to myself. :goodvibes
