The loose uniform made me REALLY happy all day!!! I was so psyched...there was a time when that fit well!

Today was the parade. I marched all 3.4 miles of it and didn't feel tired or winded at the end. THAT is one of the hugest accomplishments!!!

B: 1 hotdog, 1 mug tomato soup (7)
L at Golden Corral (buffet restaurant): 1/2 ham and Swiss sandwich, 1 pulled pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, 1/2 a salad (spinach, lettuce, cucumber, carrots), 2 tomato slices, a spoon of green beans, a spoon of creamed spinach and some fruit. How'd I do? OH!! And two rolls.

Water has been excellent!!

Maria - I actually ended up walking 7.75 miles in 2:06. It was cool and windy. I ended up dont the last .75 miles waiting for DD2 to come back and pick me up. I knew if I stopped moving, I would get cold.

DD2 wand to do the Jingle Bells 5K atomorrow. I told her we would see what I fetl like. It is supposed to be a rest day for me.

Work this week was slower than last week. I only managed to put in 54 hours instead of 64. I did work for 4 hours today and will probably work 4-5 hours tommorow. I figure if I put in 8 hours this weekend, I will be able to have Wed - Mon off next weekend.

Jen - great job on the too big uniform. You have worked hard to get to this point. Keep up the good work and you will reach your goal. Your vacation is quickly approaching. Enjoy yourself and it is a great time of year to be down there. I'm sure that there is no bad time to be there, except maybe hurricane season

Everyone - have a great evening and a losing Sunday.

Jen!!! You have done GREAT!!! WAY TO GO on the loose uniform!! I bet you felt GREAT wearing it! Your eating has been soo good and look at you walking without feeling the pain! :)

I survived the football games...my team WON!!! YAHOO!!! I did have mexican for lunch...not tooo bad...but did celebrate with a brownie and a piece of cake...then the first time ever had cheeseburger meal at 9:30 pm!!! I've never eaten that late! We were driving home from a benefit concert that we didn't think we'd make it, too...then decided we needed to go...glad we went, but we were all starving afterwards. I'm weighing in on Monday and will do my weigh in daily for 30 days to keep myself honest...then we'll go from there. I must reach 150's by Spring...I just must! :)

Kathy!!! WOW !!! You made GREAT time on your walk!!! That will surely help you jump down into the 160's!!! You're building some great muscles that will keep burning while you're sleeping and working all those hours! Can't wait to see the scale start moving for you!!! And you walked in all that cold!! That's soo hard for me.

Working on a plan to really stick to these next 30 days...going to measure/weigh/and STICK to it!!! These holidays will not sidetrack me! :)

Maria!! How's the bra working out??? I'm curious to see what the experts say! :) I might need that declutter body book...I did the flylady several years ago and her words still echo in my head! My BIGGEST problem is not forgiveness...I seem to forgive myself pretty easily...it's my "YOU DESERVE THIS" mentality...it's been a long day...x,y,z, have happened and just go ahead and take the easy route and order out or eat a bite which turns into a piece of cake. UGH. But, I know when I get that losing mentality on and having a buddy will really help...that I can't be stopped...I'm working up to it and going to jump in full force tomorrow!!! I may even look around for some marathons to join in around here...surely there's got to be a half marathon I can do locally! :)

Talk to you guys soon!
Tara

Tara

Tara,
This is great! And this is what we all need to do. I haven't given it a lot of thought yet. I know this week will be a bust with Thanksgiving. My inlaws are coming and I only make these foods once a year, and I am going to eat and enjoy them (remember, my down fall is homemade stuff--anything I can go buy at the store anytime I want is easier for me to resist because I know it will always be there--homemade stuff is harder to come by, and therefore I cave in for it much more quickly).

I don't want the holidays to be my down fall either. So once I get through this week and survive (and getting through a 3 day visit from my inlaws can only be described as surviving--they are sweet people and I love them, but I stress out over all the details the whole time they are here and the days leading up to it) I will come up with a plan.

Tara, you ARE going to make it to the 150s this spring! I just know you will!
Debra

Got room for another member? I am only now beginning to think that I can make it back to the 150's. 150 is my goal weight, right now I am 208. I would love to be at 150 by May when I do the Minnie Marathon 15k. I can't wait to be considered "normal" weight again. That is going to be awesome! Training for the 1/2 marathon has gotten me back on the exercise again. Now I have to keep it up with the eating. This will be my first holiday season where I lose instead of gain!! I am doing the WW plan at home.

I also have the problem of "oh we dont have time, just pick up something on the way home" I've eaten good this week I deserve (fill in the blank) This board definately helps keep me acountable & motivated. It was because of you guys that I started training for the 1/2 anyway. Now I am considering a triathlon for next year!

Tara-you just missed the Huntsville 1/2 marathon, it was a couple of weeks ago. But Birmingham & Nashville both have one early next year. Nashville's is in April I think.

Kathy-great job on your LR!

We are all going to be healthier than ever for the new year!

Welcome TiffJ!

This weekend was not meant to be a healthy eating weekend. My friends came over and I had California white pizza with bacon and chicken. I went to a pizza buffet after volunteering today (1 salad,3 slices above mentioned pizza, 4 breadsticks, LOTS of water). I picked at a slice of pizza during the Meet the Team dinner.

I did get to cheer today. The crowd wasn't even big and I got nervous!!

Last night, when my friends were over, we were looking at pictures. We were talking about who had moved and who was left. They pointed to a picture of themselves and how they really thinned out. They had!! Next, they point to a pic of me and say "Jen!!! You've REALLY thinned out!!!" Yay!!!

Two days of school this week!! Yippie!

Today: 2 slices French toast
L: pizza buffet meal
D: tomato soup

Not too bad.

10 minutes of a cheerleading workout and some actual cheering!! We did a dance and a cheer! :goodvibes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks Kathy and Tara!!!
My goals for this week:
:cheer2: Good water intake
:cheer2: Portion control
:cheer2: Up the veggies
:cheer2: Down the snacking
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
:cheer2: Turkey day is coming up
:cheer2: It will soon be here!
:cheer2: All those yummy foods galore!
:cheer2: To some, a biggest fear!!
:cheer2: We can do this
:cheer2: Get right by!
:cheer2: Enjoy some food
:cheer2: And punkin pie!! (yummy nummy)
:cheer2: Portion control is what we need
:cheer2: We CAN do that!
:cheer2: We WILL succeed!!!

A cheer!

And for Tara-you will DEFINITELY make it by spring!!

Happy Monday Losers!!! :sunny: :flower:

I have been traisping through Indiana AGAIN :rotfl: Went down to see Indiana play Purdue in football. IU is NOT known for their football program and it showed on Saturday. Purdue trounced us 41 - 14 Oh welllllll... Good news is that we got to bring DD21 home for Thanksgiving week.

I think travel is now done until Feb.....at least I hope :teeth:

Still holding in the 171 range........can't get into the mental game and with the holidays approaching the stress level will rise........think I am going to try to just maintain and hit the new year running....... :banana:

After the holidays DH is going to put away the billiards table that is never used and I can use the space for the treadmill and an exercise area. With the puppy coming into our lives I have no time to get to the health club anymore:(:( so have to create something at home. Really miss yoga.....want to get back to that :Pinkbounc

So looking forward to January, 2006 :cheer2: :cheer2:

Jen - Love your cheering for Thanksgiving. Following your advice and PORTION CONTROL!!!! :cheer2:

Tiffj - WELCOME You have come to the right place for support. We are all in this together!!!!

Tara and Deb - I am with you - sticking to a plan to get through the holidays and not get sidetracked!!! Homemade mashed potatoes which I do make but not often are my downfall..............with garlic and butter..........ok ok...enough going to stick to the plan :rotfl:

Kathy - You are my walking idol :cloud9: Hope to catch up with you in January but inside. Chicago winters can be brutal :cold: :cold: :cold:

Maria - How did the bra fitting go? I also went to a local shop that took the time and effort to size me AND show me how to put the bra on and make sure the girls are in there nice and snug :goodvibes :goodvibes Bought one bra from them (pricey) and then found the style for cheaper on Ebay....new bras woo hoo.........feelin good right now.

So where is everyone for Thanksgiving - cooking or out visiting. I am at my mother's house - the thing we hate is that she calls for dinner EARLY....we have to be there at 1230.....YIKES!! And we are home by 430 when the rest of the country is first sitting down. When the girls were little they used to ask what was for dinner because they were hungry. Thanksgiving dinner is a sore subject and no my mom won't bend at all - this way my brother can go to his inlaws........not upset with my brother but my mom has never taken our wishes into consideration......oh well that is another saga to write someday. We started a tradition long ago of going to the movies as a family - so we turned the lemons into lemonade :goodvibes :goodvibes Anyway enough about my mom.......could write pages on that subject. Needless to say my kids are much closer to my mother in law than my mom. Enough Said!!

Picked up the puppy :dog: from the kennel where he was boarded and he failed socialization :rotfl2: ......... Cody didn't get comfortable until 1/2 through his visit....need to get him interacting with more dogs....... :crazy: :faint: another project for the list.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

LOL! I have never thought about that. We always have our Thanksgiving 'dinner' at 12:30 also. We always skip breakfast so we are really hungry and then we PIG OUT at 12:30. 'Dinner' is left overs put away in the fridge. Everyone just gets what they want, when they want it. That is how my mom did it, and that is how I have always done it. I never thought about having our meal at supper time. I guess it is all what you get use to. My grandmother always had it at lunch time too when I was a girl, so I have never had a late Thanksgiving meal. I wonder what my in-laws think of it? I will have to asked DH what they did when he was a kid. I really never thought about it.

My 'plan' for Thanksgiving is to eat whatever I want all day long, then on Friday go back on program. I really love the food I make, and it is only once a year, and well.....I am going to just go for it! BUT I am going to take smaller portions than I did last year. I also skipped my red applesauce (I made it with red hot candies) because I am the only one who really LOVES it and I ended up eating most of it myself. I am also skipping the pecan pie this year for just pumpkin and fruit pie. Other than that we are having our usual.

I hope everyone enjoys themselves on this day. This really is the hardest time of the year to diet, but just maintaining until New Years will be SO much better than gaining. So just hang in there. Once Jan. 1st comes everyone will feel a lot more motivated.

Debra

Hey gang!!!

JEN!! LOVE THAT CHEER!!! Can you record it and play it over and over in my ear????

Linda...oh my mothers and holidays...where do we begin or end? The good silver lining that I have to laboriously seek and find each holiday is that we do have a dear mother/family to share it with...I know I'll be missing the day when we aren't all in a room fussing together! :) And oh yes..those mashed potatoes!! Just gotta have 'em...my trick for Thanksgiving is to eat all I want before 3pm and then just stick to water and fresh veggies afterwards...carrot sticks and olives seem to do the trick! :)

I started out good today...I almost did not weigh in but I knew if I didn't that I'd be bad today...so I weighed a whopping 184.6!!! EEK!! That's almost 9 pounds off my lowest just 6 weeks ago! UGH! But I knew I've been bad and I'm sure some of that is TOM...he should be leaving today..but I did it and I'll never see 184 again...next week it's on to new numbers!! The good news is that I only have 2-20lb losses to hit my all-time goal of 145!!! :) I'm shooting for the first 20 gone by February 1st...and the next 20 gone by the end of April...that means a whole summer at GOAL!!! WAHOO!!! I'm psyched!!

I did check on local marathons...yep, one in 2 weeks...ugh..can't do it..but I'm going to be prepared and do it next year! :)

It's the Rocket City Marathon!! SO...make my legs into rockets and let me soar! :)

Waiting anxiously to pair up with a buddy so I can jump start my losing weighs! :)

Tara

Thanksgiving is so stressful....I think I'm the only one who enjoys the day, and that's only because after my mother-in-law passed we started just staying home. Now all I do is watch the parade, eat, and watch football. My dh doesn't allow me in the kitchen. It's a great holiday. But I remember how hard it can be...I get the family angst for Christmas, so there's that to look forward to :rotfl:

Jen -- your cheer is awesome! Woohoo! :cheer2:

Tara -- thanks for working on the buddy situation. Like you, I need mine yesterday! :flower:

Debra -- we eat about 2. Then we have turkey sandwiches and pie again later, after we wake up :rotfl:

Linda -- I know what you mean about time. I've been paying for Curves and not going for quite awhile now.... :confused3

TiffJ -- Welcome! This is a really great thread. Everyone is so motivating! :Pinkbounc

Kathy -- I hope you have today off! You deserve it after all the work you do. :goodvibes

Jean, KathyT, Haley and everyone else --- have an awesome start to this week! :wave:

Maria

Hey all!!! Today was pretty good so far.

B: eggy and toast (5)
L: hamburger and Tater Tots because baked potatoes aren't filling me anymore (6)
S: tomato soup (4)

Water: 0
Exercise: 0 but working on it!

Must dash-I'm starting to feel restless...

Here to say I will not eat another bite!! It's 5:31 and I just finished a portion controlled dinner...but did have 1/2 a piece of cake...luckily that was the end of it and it's GONE! Haven't really exercised today but did do 30 push-ups...50 jumping jacks...ran in place for a few minutes and stretched like the dickens...hoping tomorrow to get a long cardio in.

I've got lots of sewing projects to get done so I'm hoping to knock those out this weekend before I need to pull out all the Christmas goods.

Maria...how do you stay out of the kitchen? Do y'all order out or does you dh do all the cooking? My dh wouldn't know a roasting pan from a cookie sheet...okay, he may know what a cookie sheet is but has no clue what a roasting pan is :) I'm in the same boat, though, I'm cooking not a thing (okay, well I may make some cookies)...we're headed to my parents house on Turkey day and because of the ongoing squabbles my mother has with her sisters...it looks like I'll be bringing my 90 year old grandmother on the 3 hour trip...I'm just praying she can make it without going to potty...you have to carry a portapotty with you and she barely makes it with her walker...oh goodness..say a prayer for me on Thursday..my husband will be driving the kids in a separate car because we all can't fit in the car..and she can't climb into the van....oh my.

I need to go drink some water....I have had 2 glasses today....isn't that pitiful? I just don't get thirsty!

Everyone take it easy this week...driving...shopping...eating...enjoy your families and bless you all!
Tara

I too am determined to cut off the eating tonight, I'm just doing it at 8. I had a great dinner (spinach calzone), and I'm going to let it fully settle before I indulge in dessert. Those Philly Swirl bars really are awesome. You feel like you had a great treat, but they are like eating air! :wizard:

Tara, I am very lucky. My dh cooked his way through undergrad in restaurants, so he is much faster in the kitchen than I am. He is actually our designated cook year-round. I am in charge of baked goods, but he makes everything else. He says I just get in his way, so I leave him to it. I have plenty of other tasks I can work on! It sounds like you have quite the holiday coming up. You are so good to bring your grandmother. That sounds like a road trip that will require patience, patience, and more patience. :grouphug:

My best friend just told me she is making us one of her famous chocolate cherry pies. This is like a little slice of heaven. Seriously, it is soooo good. I get it once a year at Thanksgiving, so you know I'll be enjoying it! Thank goodness once it's gone there is no more, and I can't replicate it! :rotfl:

Oh! Just a question for any of you Southerners (or anyone else!)...has anyone ever heard of Burnt Sugar Cake? My grandmother used to make it and it was my favorite. She is lost to us through Alzheimers, and she never wrote down a recipe in her life -- she did everything from memory. If anyone knows of where I might find the recipe, I'd be very grateful. :cake:

I'm off to fold clothes, prep for tomorrow and read a bit with a lovely cup of tea :goodvibes

Great eating, Jen! Good job managing your points. You are going to get there with your fabulous attitude!

OH OH OH!!!! This sounds so good. I don't suppose you could post a recipe could you? Or is this one of those 'secret' family recipes? ;)

Can you tell I love homemade baked goods. Oh they are my down fall! In a couple of weeks the older ladies in my church have a cookie/candy sale and well, I am SO weak when it comes to these things! That is why this holiday season is SO hard for me. At Easter and Halloween there is usually just store bought candy, but this homemade stuff is just TOOOOOOOO good!

Debra

Debra!! You beat me to it...I was just about to ask for that cherry pie recipe!!! OH MY!!!

I'll trade ya! Here's the burnt sugar cake recipe....
* 1 3/4 cups white sugar
* 1/3 cup hot water
* 3 cups sifted cake flour
* 3 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 3/4 cup butter
* 3 eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 2/3 cup milk

DIRECTIONS:

1. Prepare burnt sugar by placing 1/2 white sugar into a heavy skillet over medium high heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon as sugar melts. When it becomes very dark brown, remove from heat, add hot water very slowly and stir until dissolved. Set aside to cool.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees F). Line two 9 inch round baking pans with parchment paper.
3. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together three times.
4. Cream the butter or margarine with the remaining 1 1/4 cups white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs 1 at a time, beating thoroughly after each. Stir in the vanilla and the burnt sugar syrup mixture.
5. Add the dry ingredients and milk alternately to the creamed mixture. Beat until smooth. Pour batter into the prepared pans.
6. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 to 30 minutes.

Enjoy!!! If any of you want a killer carrot cake or Italian Creme Cake...just let me know!! They're traditionals at our Thanksgiving! :)

Tara

Today was boring, boring, boring. I sat through 8 hours of a income tax seminar. The material is not only mind boggling but boring.

Food today could have been better:
Breakfast - 2 apple danish @ seminar
AM snack - none
Lunch - tossed salad, small potato, lg helping of mixed veggies, chix cordon blue, minute amt of ziti
Dessert - Take 5 candy bar (walked over to drugstore to get some hard candy and it jumped into my hand)
:rotfl: :rotfl:
Supper - pasta w/fra diavlo sauce, diet caffeine free pepsi

I did manage to drink about 40 oz of water at the seminar.

Exercise - casual walk through Lights on the Lake. (2 mi) It is a display of lighted shapes in different themes. It is set up each year as a drive thru light display. Tonight they had a sneak peak community walk as a prelude to tomorrow nights opening. DD2 thinks it would be much better with snow on the ground.

Linda - walking outdoors here will become a challenge when the snow finally arrives and stays. We are forcasted to have a lot of snow this winter but milder temps than last year. I live in an area that seem to get lake effect snow off from both Lake Erie and Ontario. The lakes are currently so warm, it will take a while for them to freeze. We get the lake effect until that happens. Normal snowfall for this area is in excess 220 in. We caould have more or less depending on the year. We are always good for at least one storm which drops 3 - 5 feet of snow in a 24 hour period.

Tara - :grouphug: and good luck traveling with you grandmother. Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your parents. We are going back to have Thanksgiving with my mom. We got out of having turkey for dinner a few years ago because my father wasn't fond of it and haven't gotten out of the habit.

Everyone have a very happy holiday.

i am going to eat breakfast before going to the seminar. No danish for me this morning.

I suspect today will be as boring as yesterday. DD1 is coming home tonight if the weather is good when she is ready to leave Maine. Hopefully is holds until after she gets most of the way home.

Seminar lunch will be another buffet so I should be able to eat okay. Leave the dessert alone so I don't want to take a nap during the afternoon session.

Have a great day. For anyone traveling for the Holiday - Be careful.

Happy Tuesday!

Are all those turkeys defrosting?! Our is... all 18 lbs. for the 3 of us. My dh really really likes leftovers :rotfl:

I'm starting off today with oatmeal and raisins, but I'm having takeout for lunch. I'm planning on the lightest warm thing on the menu.

I have to go shopping with my bf after work today -- she needs the Graco 10-piece babydoll set at Target for $28.77. It's a great deal, I hope they still have them.

It's Biggest Loser night! Woohoo!

Tara -- Thank you so much for the recipe! It really means so much to me. I will ask my friend if she will give me hers, but I'm not very hopeful. She really likes having something no one else is making....

Kathy -- Those seminars can be deadly! It sounds like you have a good handle on your eating. I always go a little crazy with the food because I am so bored.

Jen -- I am the guilty party! I was looking for a recipe, and I started us on this dangerous path!

Debra -- Do you have a fun movie schedule for Thursday? I think it would be great to see movies in the evening!

Haley -- Try to have a plan for after Thanksgiving, and know you are not the only one with skeletal in-laws!

Linda -- I didn't get to go for the bra fitting. My ds was injured slightly at his basketball game, and so I spent the afternoon being Mommy. I'm hopeful that I'll get there soon, though! I am curious, and when I find out the difference I will let you guys know.

TiffJ -- How's it goin'? Do you have a plan for the holiday?

KathyT, Lisa, Jean, Nikki, and everyone else -- have a great losing day!

I'm off to PM my buddy, woohoo!

Maria
