I made it through this week with no eating after 8 PM and no candy. Since I wil be on Long Island and there will be a basket of candy in front of y desk, we will see if I have any willpower.

I walked for 60 min today. I am doing the WDW half marathon in Jan 06. The training schedule for week 1 only called for a 2 mile walk. Since I thought that was too short I walked 3.75 miles instead.

Thanks for the Welcome!! This is going to be a fun group. I like the idea of having people to talk to about the weight loss.

I bought a pair of jeans at Old Navy today!! I haven't been able to shop there in awhile. No matter what size I used to try on, they never fit my body shape! Now they do! They are tight, but at least in a few more pounds I'll be able to wear them.

I'd like to join this thread. We have a WDW trip planned for Jan and I was searching the website looking for info and found this one!! This is a great thread.
Can you tell me something about yourselves!! I also like to shop, travel, golf... DH likes to do everything, scuba, hunting, golf, travel...

I need this group...all my friends are skinny!! I can't talk to them about this weight thing!!

Welcome, travelgirl! This is a great group and they have been a BIG help to me on this journey. I found WISH last year, but didn't join anything threads until this year.

The first week of January of this year I weighed in at Weight Watchers at 204. I made losing weight my New Year's Resolution, so I just completed my 9th month.

The two things that helped me the most have been the 5 pound challenges each month. That was my first WISH thread that I joined. I joined the first one in January, and have lost at least 5 pounds each month (this month was close, but I did do it!). Then this thread has been such a big help! You may want to look for a challenge thread to join to help you set a goal. Focusing on 5 pounds a month helped me take my mind off the larger amount I really needed to lose in the end.

I am a stay at home mom. I have twin DDs who just turned 12. I homeschool them up until last year when they decided they wanted to go to school (and I was feeling a bit burned out and was ready for a change). I am 45. I have am MBA and taught part time at the university here when my children were babies until we decided to homeschool. Before that I worked in the banking industry. Oh, and I love Disney (but don't we all :earsgirl: ). That's about it. Nothing too interesting.

So glad you are joining us!

Can you get rid of the basket of candy? I hate things being right in front of me. It is too easy to just reach over and take it without thinking. Congrats on the walking! That is impressive that you are doing the WDW half marathon. Are you walking or running? I really don't know anything about marathons (I just know I have never been in one, and probably will never be in one :faint: ).

Debra

Debra - I keep moving the basket further from my desk, but the person who put it there moves it back. My downfall is the caramel Werthers. The last 2 days there a week ago I was able to limit myself to 2 in the am and 2 in the pm.

I am currently planning on walking the half. I will have to see how the training goes and maybe be able to put some wogging in to speed up the time. They have a time limit of 3.5 hours to complete the half without getting swept. I currently walk a 16.3 min mile but need to get in down to closer the 15. Ideally, I would like to be closer to 14 with a walk/wog.

I'm off to the office to picfk up work for the evenings next week. Will check in later before my 6 hour drive.

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD

Morning Losers.

Nothing exciting to report. Going to be a warm one in Chicago.

Got everything I need for the first week of Change One......breakfast. Basically it is following a lo cal diet and PORTION CONTROL - the bane of my existance :rotfl2:

Here's to a successful week :cheer2: :grouphug: FOR ALL :cheer2: :grouphug:

Kathy - What is wogging? I can figure it out but how do you know when you have gone from walking to wogging? Keep pushing the basket further and further away. Go put it on the other side of the room!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!

WELCOME TRAVEL GIRL!!

I am the world's slowest loser - I find any way to sabotage myself when I get headed in the right direction :teeth: I am 49 yrs old - have a DH and 2 DD (21 and 17). Have been hovering around 169 - 170 for waaaaaaaaaaay too long and hope to see a downward trend starting this week :cheer2:

We may not have the perfect losing formula but we are the greatest support system a person can find :grouphug: :grouphug: Let's help each other sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiide to the 150s!!!!

Jen- Shake off the bad week!! :earboy2: :earboy2: It is but a memory that will fade also. Focus on the coming week...........you have been such a leader of this group I know you will have a GREAT week.........Sorry about the football game......people can be soooooooooo immature. Have a better week :wizard:

Kathy T - 2 lbs is NOTHING!! You can get rid of them - just FOCUS!!! :cheer2:

Off to do laundry - cleaning.......ugh :teeth: also dabbling in some selling on Ebay - interesting but very time consuming - then a stop at the wake of the 16 yr old that died earlier this week :(:( going to be very hard.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Hey all!

I've shook off the bad week and started fresh today!!! I had a really good breakfast this morning at about 9 and am still going strong on that!!!

I have to work on homecoming stuff a lot this week and I just realized something: TOM will be coming later this week and if he times it just right, he's going to be here for the homecoming dance. Great. That could explain a little bit of the weight gain too.

Linda-I am going to try portion control this week too!!! Best of luck to you!

Kathy-NICE job this week!!! Keep up the pushing of the candy basket and the no eating after 8! You know what I'd do? I'd become a generous benefactor! What I mean by that is when you have a break, take the basket and give out a candy or five to everyone you see...including interns, mailpeople, bosses and people who get on your nerves.

Tomorrow starts spirit week at school and it's PJ day!!!!!!!!! Let's make this week the best one yet!! Hugs!

B: eggy with ham (2), two slices toast (3)
L: two egg omelet with ham (3), two slices toast with butter (5)

35 minutes exercise.

Hey 150's GANG!!! Missed ya!!!

Whew! Wedding over...but before I fill ya in, I'll catch up with y'all!!! :)

Jean! I have the same rule...ENJOY Disney...eat whatever you want, and keep those little legs moving across those parks! All that walking really allows you to eat and enjoy! :) CONGRATS on avoiding the chocolate fudgy thingie! That's a toughie and feel GREAT about it!

Travelgirl...oh sweetie...WELCOME!!!! Can I ever empathize with ya! I have back problems..and my 3 pregnancies were really rough on it..(bad car accident knocked all the fluid out of 3 lower vertebrae...now they're all degenerated) surgery was an option but I've been able to avoid it so far. And I've only had 1 bad back attack in the past 3 years so it's looking up! But it can wreck your fitness goals...but you're here and your eating right is an AWESOME start to getting you back to point FIT! AND WOW WOW on losing 22 pounds!!! Don't ya love how the clothes are falling off ya now?
I'm a bit of a numbers freak and have created so many weight loss charts where I can visualize me at 150...well, it's taken me 2.5 years to get to 175 (from highest of 258) and I'll tell ya these last ones are taking longer but this crew of losers is helping to change all that! :) I say set your goals and if you can't reach the stars atleast you'll hit the moon...then you're that much closer to the stars! And when you hit a plateau, switch it up and take on those exercise challenges...it'll jump start you and you'll have alot more energy! I'm a homeschool mom to 3 kiddoes and we just moved to Alabama from TN this summer. Hope you're faring well in Louisiana! Tough year for you guys! :grouphug:

KathyT...don't sweat the 2 pounds...high sugar foods/fat foods will make that scale jump up quick...but 2-3 days of good eating and flushing the water down will take care of that....you're gonna see those numbers again!!!

Jen! Whew! I'm so glad y'all socked 'em 77-0...I think they needed an adjustment of some sort...I really can't stand when the bands get raunchy...I wish more school leaders would speak out against that, or atleast the parents... :confused3 I think you did pretty well on the eating...you're conscious of the good choices and you stop and don't overkill when you make a bad one....that's what it's all about! And you come here and share it with us....that's sooo hard to do...so :cheer2: :cheer2: for JEN!!! :)

Kathy!!!    Uh-oh...you're becoming a WALKING DIVA!!! 3.75 when it only called for 2???? Are you an inspiration or WHAT??? LOOK AT YOU ROCK!!!! :)

Debra...Hmmmm...did I hear you say "Nothing too interesting" about yourself??? HUH? You're not seeing the Debra I see here! :) I think you're one AWESOME and INTERESTING lady!!!!! I'd like to see a little more back patting by you and seeing you stand tall and confident and say "YES, I'm one FANTASTIC lady and the world is BETTER because I'm IN IT!!!" :Pinkbounc It's so hard to sing praises for ourself...but I think we should! :)

Linda...thinking of you and that poor boy's family at the wake...when I hear of a child's death...I just get a pit in my stomach that won't fade quickly. I hope you handled it with courage and gave the family some hope in all this. Hard to say much for that situation.

Jen..you're having an EGGY day! :) That protein will go far in building those cheering muscles! GREAT choices!

Okay, wedding was beautiful! My friend looked soooo happy as did the groom and the weather was God Sent! My girls were sweet as sugar as flower girls...it's so nice to hear the sweet comments on how well they performed..I was so fearful my youngest would tuck and run when she saw the crowd...but she was even smiling as she threw the petals...and they knew all their cues...I was really proud I fit into that size 12 bridesmaid dress...thank GOODNESS for those body girdles! I've never shown cleavage before in anything and that was interesting...it made me keep my shoulders back to try and lift my dress up.. :earboy2: I felt great (warning, here comes the self-deprecating moment) but I really hated how my arms looked wearing a sleeveless dress...I should have stuck to my arm workouts....I have so much flab on my arms that when I held my bouquet in front I had flesh folds hanging over my forearms....it just kind of made me icky...hoping I maneuvered myself well for the pictures to hide it...but I'm hoping these last 25 pounds will take care of that. So, another hurdle has come and gone...and now I'm looking at Christmas being in the 150's...I know I can lose these last 20-25 pounds by then. I'm going to skip my walk tomorrow and get back into our homeschooling schedule...then pick it up on Tuesday and get back to my 6 day week workout plan...

I'm soo hungry...it's 11:30 pm, I haven't eaten since 4pm...late late lunch and no dinner...trying to go straight to bed (long 3 hour drive at night) to avoid munching on something...will head to grocery tomorrow for good veggies...trying to add more spinach salads in...I really like spinach fresh and with nuts/feta cheese/strawberries..it's a cool salad! :)

Hope all did well this weekend!
Tara

Good Morning All,

You all have made me feel so welcome!!! All of you are a wonderful bunch! I'm so glad that I found this thread.

I am off to work. I have to go in early this morning! I have month-end stuff to do! I am a chemist by education, but a Production Analyst at a chemical company. I make sure our "recipes" are correct for what product we make and that our budgets are correct. Fun!! Right?? I really do like my job, but it's not fun at month-end. Stressful!!

I do not have any children yet...Trying now, have for three years. I hope with the weight loss, my body will want a baby! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm 33, so it needs to happen soon! I want at two, close together.

I better get to work, have a nice day.

By the way, I didn't weight Friday..female problems...so I weighted today and two more pounds were gone!!

Morning Losers!! :cool1:

Tara - Sounds like you had a GREAT time at the wedding!! Can't wait to see a picture of you in the dress!! :goodvibes Size 12 WOO HOO!!!!! You should feel so good about yourself :teeth: The rest of the weight will slide right off of you :flower:

Today starts the Change One - breakfast. Going to have fat free yogurt, blueberries and some granola. The focus this week is breakfast - eating it everyday and keeping the portions in check:):)

Got on the scale and really didn't like the numbers:(:( don't even want to discuss them except to say that I CAN DO THIS!! The Change One book suggests that I only weight once a week - don't become a slave to the scale :rotfl2: :rotfl2: So I will try to only weigh in on Mondays - keeps me honest for the weekend.

Yesterday went to the wake of the young man - very very sad:(:( I know his mother as an acquaintance - she seems to be moving on autopilot. She tells me that her husband is not doing well at all. They have one remaining son who I was not able to speak with. Very Very Very sad:(:( DD17 and her showchoir will be singing two numbers at the funeral this morning - one of them is Cat Stevens - Morning Has Broken Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Puppy decided to see if he barked at 4am would anyone respond. HA!! What was he thinking :rotfl: Never doing puppyhood again:):) Too much like work.

Have a magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Good Monday Morning everyone. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Well I weighed last night and while I didn't lose anything I didn't gain either so I am not too disappointed especailly considering some of the things I had eaten this past week. My husband's band had their first gig Saturday night out of town so I didn't get to bed until late waiting for him to come home. I didn't realize how hungry I would be that late (or from boredom). I gave in to the tummy grumbling!!! UGH!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I am glad to hear so many of you did better than me. Keep up the good work.

Welcome Travelgirl. I read your post over the weekend but this is the first chance I have had to respond. We are going to WDW in Jan. too. I can't wait. When will you be there? Here's a bit about me. I am a stay-at-home mom of a 3 yr. old son. He keeps me very busy. I decided to join this group because I want to lose weight to get healthy. I am not sure I mentioned this to the others before but I was diagnosed with Melanoma last year. I had surgery and have been cancer free for a year and 4 months. :cool1: That was a major wake-up call on my health and I realized that I need to do whatever I can to get healthy for my son, my husband and myself. So welcome, welcome, welcome.

Tara, glad you had a great time at the wedding. I checked out your Disney pictures and you look awesome (been meaning to tell you that). You'll have to post some wedding pics too because I am sure you were one foxy mama in that dress.

Linda, I will definitely remember that family in prayer. Breakfast sounds yummy. I should probably focus a bit more on breakfast too. I usually don't eat anything or if I do it is a bowl of cereal or something quick and not very good for me. Thanks for the reminder.

Here's to a great week of losing everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haley

Travelgirl!!! WOW!!! 2 pounds GONE!!! That is WONDERFUL!!!  Bye bye 2 pounders! I used to know a chemist at Dow Chemical..have no clue if he's still there...are you in that area? I actually majored in chemistry up until my last quarter of school...they pulled a fast one and put the 2 chemistry classes I needed at the same hour so instead of sticking it out an extra quarter for the needed class I took 25 hours of psychology to just get the hey out of college...it meant instead of chemistry/pre-med...I ended up pschology/pre-physical therapy...but if I ever go back for that one class...my whole major changes back! :) I love chemistry and I bet you like using it daily :) Now, work up some breakdowns of the fatty cells and tell us how to break apart those bonds! :)

Linda! Great breakfast!!! Keep it up! Praying for that family through this week. I'm with you...I'll change my weigh in day to Mondays and we can get this off together! I weighed today at 180.4...3 pounds up from Friday...I really didn't overeat...just had more sugar (cake and such) than I'm used to...so I bet I'll be back in the 170's and aiming for 160's at the end of this month. I'm going to my college for a football game (haven't been there in 10 years) and want to be able to wear my cool jeans with my AUBURN shirt...so let's get moving! :)

Haley!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:    Can I celebrate with you on all those years cancer free????? HOW AMAZING!!! That alone should inspire us to keep being fit in perspective. You are truly inspiring.

I need a bad grocery run...but managed scrambled eggs, 3 slices of apple and a glass of grape juice for breakfast. We're out of bread, milk and eggs now so must run to the store! :)

Drinking my water!
Tara

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have been gone so long. Things have been very busy here, and I have had some family issues to deal with. Everything is back on track now and I am now ready to get back to focusing on myself. I went shopping over the weekend, and have stocked up on good foods and I am ready to get back on program.

Regina

WE MISSED YOU!!! Welcome home Regina!! We all need those breaks to get back in step with life and we're always here for to help you find your way to GOAL! :) Catch us up on you! I hope things are getting better for you and we can't wait for you to see ONEDERLAND!!!! It will happen!!!

Okay, weigh in day cheats have set in large...I give myself an "off day" on weigh in day and since I declared today my weigh in day I let myself have a small bag of cheetos (snack size) and a nutter bar...I had turkey swiss roll up (no bread) for lunch and one diet coke. But on the good side I went to the store and bought that spinach and strawberries for a good salad tonight! :) And I'm going to slimfast for dinner meals the rest of the week. That seems to be my worst meal so I figure if I slimfast there then I can't nibble so much.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Oh Tara, you are SO sweet!

Sorry I haven't been on today, and I am going to have to run soon. Just checking in so you know I am still around. Today I went to the mall for a quick trip and ended up staying a long time. They had formals on clearnance at JCPenneys and for some crazy reason I decided to try some on. There was one that when I looked in the mirror I was stunned---at MYSELF! WOW! I looked like a Disney Princess! (OK, a middle aged Disney Princess anyway :teeth: ). I haven't had on a dress like that since my wedding!

Unfortunately, they were Junior sizes and all just a little too small for me, but I was able to get in them enough to 'see' myself in the mirror! I felt so pretty! I haven't felt pretty since I don't know when. I keep thinking how I wish DH could see me! (at least from the front, in the back the zipper was only half up).

Anyway, I can not believe I spent the afternoon trying on these dresses. I did end up buying a dress (not a formal, but a regular length ones) for $6.77 on clearance! I am taking it on our Disney Cruise in March (now I can NOT gain this weigh back!)

Well, gotta run. I will try to catch up with everyone tomorrow!
Debra princess:

Hello Everyone,

I just got home from work...very long day. Now, it's time to cook some supper and watch the rest of 7th Heaven. It's one of my favorite shows.

Thanks for the congrats on my two pounds!! It's really nice to tell folks about it. My momma is really proud of me. She's a nurse and thinks my health is suffering greatly b/c of the added weight, so she'e really happy about it!! I know she's right, but I have ignored it for years...I guess I got tired of having the pity party for myself.

DH & I have only been married for 4 years, so he's only known me since I have gained a good amount of weight. So, he's likes the idea that I am losing too. But, he's great about it, he's says he loves, and whatever makes me happy, makes him happy!! I know we're still newlyweds and it shows!! I guess...

Haley- I am so glad for you that your cancer is gone!!! I know that is so scary. I hope your health only gets better!!!

We will be at WDW from Jan 6-18th. 13 glorious days! I am so excited about it. I hate to wish my life away, but I can't wait for it to get here. I have not been since I was 12, so it's been 21 years! I am sure that it will be a very new experience.

Tara- I have a minor in psyc, I lacked 3 hours from a double major. The same thing happened to me, the last semester they changed the time of the class and so I didn't get to take it. It's a small world, b/c I actually work at Dow, but it's the one in North La. Who do you know? Where is the plant located that they worked at? We have several in the state.

I know I missing saying something to some on here, so I'll get back with all later. I have to finish supper, so I won't be eating too late!!

More Later,
Steph

Debra- I know how you feel about the dresses! That's so much fun, especially when you can wear sizes that you haven't been able to in awhile. Good for you!! I love cruising too and dressing up for the formal nights! We have been on 7 cruises, and it's great every time!

I used to love to shop, but it was getting harder for me b/c of the sizes that I was having to buy. So I am looking very forward to shopping in a few months! Maybe I can start enjoying it again!

Welcome back Regina!! This group has made me feel so welcome!!

Linda- You have a new puppy? I have to babysit my brothers dog next week and I am very nervous about it. He's a house dog and I hope he doesn't bark all night for a week!!

It feels good to be back, today I focused on not snacking between meals. Things have gone well with that today. Since Tuesday is my first work day of the week, I will be completely back on plan Tuesday. I will also be getting up and exercising tomorrow morning. It just hit me today that in 2 mos. I will on my way to Disney, so I have to get my butt in gear and get serious about getting this weight off.

The family issues weren't anything to terrible, just some unexpected financial problems, which caused us to sit back and take a hard look at what was important. The other was just helping DS4 adjust to preschool. For a couple of weeks he was a little anxious about us leaving him. Now he is loving it a can't wait to go everyday. His teacher is great and says he just smiles all day and is willing to try anything they ask. He will also be starting with speech therapy about 2 weeks, which I think will boost his confidence even more.

Regina

I'm back too. Went to WDW last week and have not been looking after myself for the last couple of months. Came back with an awful head cold that is now in my chest. I am going to watch what I eat but hold out on the exercise until I feel better. 150 here I come!
