Maria,
Did you notice that when the girl was all alone in a room full of food for the first time in 44 days, the one thing she took was CHOCOLATE! When she grab a bunch to go, I had to laugh. I said that would be ME! Give me the chocolate!

:rotfl2: I noticed that, too. Hysterical!

OK, I need to rant and rave. My husband goes to the grocery store last night and brings home...

  • FIVE packages of chocolate chip cookies
  • 2 packages of ice cream bars
  • 2 boxes drumsticks (those cones with the chocolate on top)
  • white bread
  • soda...

:sad2: What the hell? He does this everytime I try to watch my diet and exercise. Every time. I don't think he's purposely trying to sabotage me, but it's really getting me mad! So far, I managed to only eat one cookie, but it's only a matter of time...

I just don't know what else to say... Why? When we first started going out, I was a nice, trim size 3/5. I could jog 40 minutes, 4 times a week. Then I put on a little after getting married, but the big gain came with my 1st child. Never really lost the weight I gained. (But I was stressed. DD had a lot of health issues). Then I lost a little. Then DS came along, and went back up again. Now really having trouble losing. My body just seems to hold onto the fat for dear life. DH says he wants me to loose weight. But like I said, as soon as I try, in starts coming the food. I've told him about it before, and he agrees at the moment. But the staying power of our discussion just isn't there.

I don't expect any fixes from anyone. Just needed to vent a little. :headache:

(we are hooked too, it looked so weird when it came out and I didn't watch it last year, but over the summer during reruns we started watching Lost and not we are hooked too. Do you think the 'others' are also from the plane, but a different section, like the rear--that is what DH thinks?)

Hi Debra,

I did notice! I can't imagine life without chocolate for 44 days. You'd be peeling me off the ceiling!

I agree with your DH, I think they're from the back of the plane, and Rose's husband is with them. I'm just wondering why they were attacking Jin. Maybe there's something on their part of the island that makes you violent?

It's a good thing I cut off the food before the show. I could easily eat bags and bags of chips and not even notice what I'm doing while I watch it! :rotfl:

Maria

Ummm, Hi Again!

Just checking in for the evening. Today's food selections:

B: Raisin Bran
L: 6" Subway sub, ind. bag of baked chips, sm. box of raisins
D: 1/2 Red Baron Pizza
S: Lindt Ball

I didn't get to the planned exercise, but I'm hopeful I will soon. I am so swamped at work, I don't think about food until I get home, so I guess that's good? :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to a great tomorrow. Tomorrow I seriously work on drinking my water!

Linda -- It's 8, all the snacks have padlocks! :rotfl:

Lisa -- So glad you checked in! We all go through times when it's hard to get here, just know we're here when you need us!

Digimom -- I understand the venting, that's one nice thing about coming here. Sometimes these things just need to be said. It helps, too, I promise, just putting it in writing. Sending you a big hug :grouphug:

Haley -- Great to hear from you! Welcome back, we've missed you!

Linda -- Have you joined the potty princess club? I think I'm still picking up the literature, but I'm hopeful for the weekend...

Kathy -- Lots of luck with your job decision. It's hard to know when you find the perfect situation, I hope yours appears like magic princess:

Jen -- Sorry you're going to miss the field trips. I hope everything else is going well.

Tara -- Are you still up walking with the chickens? You get the early riser award! By the way, my ds said Calico Cooper seemed to really enjoy performing with her dad. Guess all that time spent together paid off!

C'ya Real Soon!

Hey gang!!!

Maria!! I'm right there with ya baby!! I was at 177.4 today...whew!! 7 pounds of Vacation weight GONE!!! UGh! Vacations are worse than TOM!!! I'm coming for you and we'll ride down to the 160's in style...in those nice riveted jeans everyone's talking about! :)

Lisa...hmmm...let me think...break the patter of work and lastly personal health...okay...I'm brainstorming...how about finding ways in your work to make it also a personal health bonus...like when you're sitting at the desk grading papers...do some gluteus maximus clenches (3 sets of ten) or when parking your car...park it the farthest from the building...heck even walk around the building to the farthest door...find a fellow pal to walk 15 minutes with you at school...bring a change of socks/walking shoes and enjoy a brisk fall walk. Challenge some other pals at work to join a biggest loser at school program...surely someone else there would like to get some pounds off....then you could find a way to have pals along your journey when you can't find time to check in with us pals! We're here for you...don't feel like you have to be a repeat poster to feel loved and wanted....we just want to help EVERYONE get to 150...I've been at WISH for 3 years and I'm still not at 150 yet..so don't think we ever give up on anyone! You're gonna DO THIS!!!

Kathy!!! YAHOO!!! You're counting down...you're doing it...you're gonna take a VACATION!!!! AHAHAHAHAHHAHYipppeeeekaiyay! I'm really hoping this other job offer will replace the other two you already have!!! One job-one person...keep chanting that! :) AWESOME eating by the way!

Linda....like the premise of the book! LEt us know what you change! How about my first one...I'll give all folks around me weekly chocolate chip cookie batches so they'll get bigger and I'll look smaller...does that count? :earboy2: I have changed my one thing by getting those walks in...I've been pretty consistent...managed atleast 4x a week since getting back and it is DARK in the morning! Sun rises about 20 minutes before I return home...we're wearing reflectors now. And the temp dropped 20 degrees from 5:30-6:00 am...we were not prepared!!! EEK!

Haley!!! Welcome back!!! Great to see you again...great goals to get! I think not eating after 8 is a GREAT tip for anyone...I think I can attribute 5 pounds alone loss to that . Come on and be the loser we know you are!!!

digiMom...okay, does your dh have a sense of humor? Can you plan a little accident? Have the cookies sitting on the counter and as you're fixing a sandwich have the vinegar bottle fall into them...then put the ice cream in the refrigerator by 'accident' and after they're melted just slap your head and say "Silly me!" Or when he sabotages you again...go spend the same amount on girlie movies and watch them for several nights in a row...or go buy a dream outfit and let it be your inspiration...tell him if he wants to see you in it..stop buying the junk! But I'm so proud of you for only eating one cookie....stay STRONG!!!! I passed up homemade cupcakes and french fries today...oh and ginger cookies...it was soo tough....but I'll feel better about it tomorrow! :)

For the LOST fans...huh? I'm sooo confused! Who is the guy down in the quarantine thingie? What happened to the other guy on the raft? I know the little boy got snagged but what about the other man? I'm sooo LOST about LOST! Fill me in! :)

Stuck to low carb...got my walking in...almost froze...but did it...now resting and saying my kids prayers before big wedding weekend...will have shots for ya when I get back! :)

The guy down in the shelter was the guy that talked to Jack (the doctor) on the blenchers when he was running up and down them trying to relieve stress from having to tell the women (his future wife) that she would never walk again--which ended up not being the case. I have NO idea how he got there or WHY he is there.

Jen (the other guy on the raft) was on the island when the other two landed and he came running with his hands tied behind his back and when he got to them he said, "Others" to tell them that there were other people chasing him and they were right behind him. In the previews they show the three men being put pit and held captive. In the pit they see the woman that talked with Jack (the doctor) at the airport before they boarded. She was seated in the back and wanted to change seats with him (which they didn't do). That is why DH thinks the 'others' are the people from the back of the plane.

It is confusing, but that is what makes it interesting.
;)

Tara - great job resisting the cookies. I am getting psyched to have some time off. :cool1: :cool1: The secretary/bookkeeper in the office is trying to get the info together for the tax return I have to do so I won't have so much to prepare in so little time when I get back. She is also going to do the computer input for another client. I'm not sure what has gotten into her. To put things in perspective, I work in a 3 person office, the boss, his daughter and myself. I have always thought his daughter would never survive working for anyone but her father. She spends most of the day doing nothing.

Linda - I have the change one book also. I like the theory you should choose what you want for dessert and plan the rest of your meals around it. Good luck with you choices.

Maria - you and I will have to get into exercising together. I keep thinking I will start tomorrow but something always seems to come up.

Todays food was:
Breakfast - dannon light & fit yogurt w/high fiber cereal
AM snack - nature valley heart healthy honey nut bar
Lunch - salad w/carrots, cukes, eggs, turkey/tuna?, diet caffeine free pepsi
PM snack - quaker oatmeal breakfast square
Supper - Charlie's philadelphia cheese sub w/ hot sauce, diet pepsi
Water - 32 oz. (have to work on this)

This was my 4th day of no eating after 8. Maybe it will become a habit.

I usually get more water in when I am in the office. My problem this week has been trying to keep my butt glued to my chair to get as much work completed as possible. Not the best excuse but the only one I can think of.

Need to get headed for bed as 6 am comes too early.

:grouphug: to all I have missed. Keep up the losing.

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD

Morning Losers!! ;)

Nothing much to report. The padlock was on last night at exactly 8pm. Actually I stopped eating at 7pm because one of my favorite shows Alias premiered last night. If you like LOST - you would like ALIAS - as many twists and turns.............. :cool1:

Going to the grocery store today to get what I need for the first change - BREAKFAST - I eat it every morning but have to work on smaller portions and HEALTHIER!!! :teeth:

Alot going on - At DD17 school they had a schock - a boy who was a junior at her high school - Mom went into wake him up for school and he was dead - drug overdose......so incredibly sad. :( The mother is an acquaintance and this is the second son who has had drug related issues (son #1 went into rehab and has been clean for a couple of years). Wake is on Sunday - My heart and prayers go out to the remaining brother and his family............Sunday is going to be very difficult. The entire student body has been very upset about this. DD17's show choir will be performing at the funeral. Please say a prayer for the family and the student body that the healing begins soon.

Kathy - CONGRATS on no eating after 8pm and 4 DAYS IN A ROW!!! Make it a habit!! :Pinkbounc

Tara - LOVE YOUR IDEA!! Can we give the WHOLE WORLD chocolate chip cookies!! :rotfl2:

LOST FANS - A QUESTION!!!!! Cody (darling puppy :dog: ) decided he needed to pee with 2 minutes left in the show. What happened at the very end of the show pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......been trying to find someone who knows. Thanks!!

Speaking of the puppy............He is calling my name - How come DD17 wanted him but he knows my name better than anyone else??? :rotfl2: :rotfl: Because the MOM always gets the pet in the end :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Gotta go get the morning paper and let someone do his business.

Have a Magical Disney Day!! ::MickeyMo
Linda

Have a Happy Sun filled Friday...........

Hey gang! Thanks for the LOST update...I'm one of those who thinks I can "catch on" by watching every 3rd episode...I got so confused last season because when I thought they'd be showing a new episode it was all re-runs and then when they did show a new one, I missed it. I have no clue about the doctor's wife and some man...missed that whole thing...I just recently saw a lady in the ER that he saved but told her she'd not walk at her wedding...so I didn't connect that it was his wedding too...oh me. But I'm really still wondering about the little boy and those men who took them..who were they and how'd they get a boat? Okay, I'm truly Lost! :) I haven't watched Alias, that sounds like a cool show, too. We get stuck with our schedules and manage to only watch about 3 hours a week of TV...we like Law & Order, Medium, and CSI...But that new show about Chris Rock looks really funny.

Okay, back to losing...I was down to 177.4 yesterday and up to 178.4 today..I'm now not going to weigh daily anymore...it's freaking me out. And I've changed my weigh in day to Fridays..simply because I want to see weight loss next week and know how much I'm down and I don't trust my parents scale where I'll be staying the weekend. But I had a late dinner (7pm..we usually eat at 5pm)...took the car to Wal-mart for balancing/rotating tires...they said it would be a 3 hour wait...I had to wait because it's long over due and needed for this road trip. Well, the kids and I toured Wal-Mart for 1.5 hours...then returned he said the car was not ready..so we sat in the waiting area and never saw our car return..we learned a little Spanish from the sweet family also waiting, helped entertain their 2 year old, and passed another 1.5 hours....called dear hubby and asked him to pick the kids up for me while I waited...we go outside to meet him (he just got off work) and they said my car had been ready 2 hours ago!!! UGH!!!Oh well, atleast I avoided all the snacks I gave my kids! :) My late dinner was 5 small chicken tenders and a salad...but they were fried so I'm sure it messed up my carb total with the breading. Oh well.

Kathy...soo still psyched for you on your vacation...hopefully I'll be back before you make your last post to give you a decent send off! :)

I just had a slimfast and will carry one for lunch...then it's salmon for the rehearsal dinner. Whew! A long weekend! Say a prayer for Sally and John...they're the newleyweds...they are both very much in love and what a great way to start a life! :)

Talk to you guys on Sunday night!

I needed that.

I know I shouldn't, but I'd have a real hard time spilling vinegar on cookies. I like the movie and outfit idea, though. Unfortunately, (or for him fortunately), he can eat whatever and still look fine. (Plus, he didn't have to carry and deliver two kids  )

Hi All-
Well, fell down on the no eating after 9 pm--but did have a Lean Cuisine. Seems I just get going & don't make time to sit down & eat when I should. Well, that is another goal-take time to eat at a decent hour--the guys usually eat dinner at 7:30--
I did resist a whole box of gourmet, fresh handmade chocolates! :Pinkbounc
I needed to go out & get some local merchandise for a visiting author & since we have a wonderful chocolatier in the village, that had to be one of the gift basket items! YIKES! 2 nights, 3 days with those yummy things in the house--I was having a major meltdown! :scared: I am happy to report I did not even open the box--let's be frank, I wouldn't dare! Just thinking about the box of chocolates makes me
I need to get a grip on portion control, too. although the water thing is happening. Haven't upped my excercise, but maybe as I lose more I'll get more boucy! errrr...not just jiggly! :goodvibes

TTFN--gotta oversee the homeschool project!

At the end of the show the two guys who were on a raft (sorry, I am TERRIBLE with names) got back on the island. The surf took them back. Just as the landed they see Jen (the other man with them) running towards them screaming something in Korean. His hands are tied behind his back. He falls down in front of the two men and finally says (in English) "OTHERS!". Then you see in the distance these people running towards them looking VERY angry!

In the previews they show the guys from the raft being put in a pit with a young woman who had been seen in a flash back episode talking to Jack (the doctor) at the bar right before the flight.

BUT they left things very much in the air. No idea where the boy is at. There are a lot of questions. I guess it is meant to be like a prime time soap opera because it leaves you hanging.

Jean! You are my Hero! Oh my!!! I can not resist anything 'homemade' and if you add chocolate to that, well I just fold! Good for you!

My weakness for homemade stuff worries me as the holidays come up. I do NOT want to start gaining during the holidays, and the Oct. 31 (Hallowee) holiday through New Years Day is my very WORSE time of the year for eating.

I have a Disney Cruise coming in March and I want SO much to have a nice family picture while we are onboard.

Is anyone else getting worried about the holidays?

Debra

Debra--
Yes! the holidays will make me quake! :guilty:
We go to WDW Fri after Thanksgiving. The easy part is we are going out for Thanksgiving-no leftover pies, stuffing etc!
I am planning on cheating:
1) Thanksgiving--dinner only
2) WDW--low carb/low cal breakfast all except 2 mornings
big lunch, moderate dinner, no late night eating
Last trip ate 3 moderate meals & snacks & gained not one pd! :sunny:
3) birthday--dinner only--the Hancock or Colby Hill Inn!
4) Christmas--Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas Day
5) New Year's brunch

when we go to house parties, I will take only what someone insists I try, then I take a tiny piece, by tiny I mean less than 1 inch square :faint: I mostly drink a lot of tea or coffee or water!
Last potluck I was cornered on the sofa with no less than 6 people raving about brownies with actual fudge in the middle!!! :scared1: Cr*p! that conversation must've lasted 5 minutes! I almost broke & ran for those fudgy delights! I was really on the verge of asking them all to please shush, but one was a judge, another 2 state reps & several church ladies! :teeth:
It is easier for me, perhaps, because I am soooo overweight. There's always at least a couple of clucking people monitoring a fat girl's food intake! so the toughest for me is at night when no one's watching--but my conscience!
:rolleyes1

Jean,
I have a rule. When at Disney, eat WHATEVER you want! So I hope you enjoy! You will have to give us a report when you get back. I love hearing about where people ate and what they thought was good.

Congrats on resisting the brownies. I would have folded! That is worth celebrating!!! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cool1:

I'd like to join this thread. We have a WDW trip planned for Jan and I was searching the website looking for info and found this one!! This is a great thread.

I am involved in a weight battle myself and want to lose weight before we go to WDW too, but more for my overall health.

My goal is to be 150 lbs before Jan 6th. So, this 150 Club is great!!

There is 148 pages on thread, so I sure can't read them all for info about everyone, so could someone let me know how many folks are on here and how much you've lost.

I am really overweight for my height 5'2'' and have terrible back problems & a tyhroid disease, so this is a battle for me!! I need to lose alot!!

I started in July dieting, at 1200 calories a day. The doc told me I didn't need to lose over 2 lb per week. I weigh on Fridays. My daily habits have chnaged! I used to drink 6-8 DR. Pepper's a day and probably ate 2500 cal. So this has been a huge adjustment for me. And DH needs to eat, he's underweight, I think. But, at least he's eating healther.

On July 5th, I weighted 212 lbs!!! Now as of Sept 30th, I weigh 190 lbs. So that's 22 lbs for me and the doc was very proud of me.

I have not exercised or started drinking water. I know that I could lose a lot more if I could be disciplined enough to do these things, but we are always so busy and time is an issue for me with the exercise, and the water...Well I hate water!!! What can I do???

The 1200 -1500 calories that I do eat consist of:

Drinks: always diet drinks!
Dry Cereal or fruit for breakfast everyday - 120 cal.
Lean Cuisine for Lunch- 250-300 cal.
Afternoon Snack- 100 cal. (chips or low-cal cookies pk)
Dinner- 700 cal. I normally just eat whatever before 7pM. I don't count this meal's cal, I just chicken, lean steak, shrimp, etc.. never fried!! and a veggie, starch and bread. A balanced meal, that's what the doc suggested. It works for me!!

I used to be about 135 lbs 10 years ago, then I had health problems and gained a lot!! As you can tell...I had spinal cord surgery 4 years ago and it did a number on me...put me down for awhile. I have gradually recovered, but now I want to have a baby and need to lose the weight. My back can not take the extra weight and the baby too!!

It feels weird telling all this to complete strangers...but I wanted you to know a little about me.

Can you tell me something about yourselves!! I also like to shop, travel, golf... DH likes to do everything, scuba, hunting, golf, travel...

I need this group...all my friends are skinny!! I can't talk to them about this weight thing!!

Up the 2 lbs I lost. RRRRR!

Darn those cookies and ice cream. I will not let you defeat me!

I just started about a week ago myself. It sounds like we're at about the same weight (I'm at 191/ size 16). Although, unlike you, I'm at my highest point right now, not including pregnancies. When I got married (13 years ago), I was 135-size 6. (in college, size 3/5).

Now, I'm looking to get into the 150's by February (bet with DH- if I do it, we go to WDW this May).

I have two kids: DD (8) and DS (5). I work full to part creating interactive media and digital effects. I went back to school when DS was 1 yr and changed careers, so it's been really exciting. The down side: I sit on my but for hours at a time.

I guess that's a fair synopsis. So welcome and hope to "see" you around!

Welcome travelgirl!!!!! I like to :cheer2: !

Today is turning out ucky. I am trying to call people to work on the class float and have got 0 people. Not to mention it's cold outside!!! :cold: I'm not complainin' though. I also gained three pounds this week because of the Personal Development class, my schedule and my eating choices (they weren't the best but far better than pre-WISH)

Football Game: We were in front of the absolute worst crowd EVER last night. They were throwing things at us, tooting air horns as we were playing, booing us...I got so mad. One of the male flags threw his flag at the end of its performance and about hit a drum major!!! Their band's performance was good, never mind the conditions. The first song they played was Beyonce's "Baby Boy"...the flag girls were in these loose/tight tanktops and long pants and dancing like a bunch of prostitutes and not very nice females parading themselves about. I'd be ashamed. They did this downward wiggle thing, and I swear if it went any longer, something would have "popped out" if you catch my drift. It all went downhill from there. We flattened them 77-0, though.

Good things this week:
-Baked potato for lunch 4 out of 5 days this week! I had a fish sandwich the other day, so I did well!
-Good water intake.
-Avoided many temptations!!!

Bad things this week:
-Not so good food choices.
-Very little exercise.
-Lots of stress and frustration.
-Football games/meetings for stuff left, right and center
-Personal Development class: Roots and Wings Week-TRADITIONAL FOOD or HEIRLOOM, but most are bringing in foods or recipes. (you bring in a food that is special to your past or special to you right now. We've had snow ice cream, which I only had a bite of, mini cheesecakes but mine fell on the floor, chicken-noodle-soup-to-die-for, snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies, brownies and lasagna to date.)

Focus for this week:
Cutting out the junk foods.
Better food choices.
Be nice to myself.
Add in a little more exercise (that isn't marching).

Adieu!!!!
