Oh, Tara, how exciting...........116lbs. And I'm not in there at all because my weigh in day is Saturday. You're not going to believe this, but I'm going to have my DH weigh me in. :earseek: Actually, he already knows about how much I weigh, so it won't be a shocker. I asked him if he would and he said yes. He is my biggest cheerleader. He supports me in anything I try. So I know he won't think badly of me or anything............he is just the greatest guy. :love2: I'll report on Saturday any numbers.

Tara.....that's funny what you said about having a treadmill at home. It just the opposite for me. If I had to work out in front of all of those people, especially the men, I wouldn't go. Ofcourse, I'm a lot bigger than you, and way out of shape. And I love that if I have to go to the bathroom or anything, I can pause and then get right back on. And I don't have to share the TV. :teeth: But I'm a firm believer that you gotta do what's good for you! So keep it up! :sunny: I'm rooting for you and the 60 pound clippie!!

Ha! Don't even worry about how long it took you. I've been here almost three years and look at my siggie! But I'm not going there....... :earboy2:

Worked out last night to American Idol and Everybody loves Raymond. Tonight I'll probably choose to work out to music. That really gets me going. It was hard last night. It was a miracle that I stayed on it. I just wouldn't let myself get off. I kept thinking, this is only going to get easier if I stay on it, day after day, after day. I'm committed. (Besides, my DH spent a lot of money getting this for us so that is a little pressure to keep me going)

How's everyone else this morning. Stick to your plan. Here's to us!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good Morning All!! :sunny:

I am back from the world wind college shopping trip alittle weary and excited to be home ;) All went very well and I think DD17 has an idea of where she wants to apply.

Anyway today is my day to recommit :cool1: Going to go to my first WW meeting at 5:30. This is it!! Now that I have the exercise down pat need to get the eating under control. Can't decide which WW program to use probably FLEX Points because it would be less disruptive with family meals.

Tara - you are so close to your 60 clippie!! YOU GO GIRL!! Keep moving :Pinkbounc

Pam - What music do you like to listen to when working out? You are so good....I am with Tara - need to go to the fitness center to move this big old butt :rotfl: :rotfl:

Kathy - The tax season is almost over!! :bounce: Just hang in there and I know you will be back on track soon.

RF536 - Isn't it nice to feel warm outside for a change :sunny: :sunny: Wish it would last - Chicago is back to the low 50's with rain:( I can't handle an hour on the treadmill either. It is hard for me to read that long and the machine is noisy so I really have to turn the volume on the TV up which disturbs the rest of the house. How about short spurts on the treadmill? 20 minutes then go off and do some crunches or weight lifting then back again for more treadmill. I change off at the fitness center between machines.....trainer said that was better so I wouldn't get bored. If you are bored you won't do it at all - at least I won't I will find 10,000 excuses. Hang in there and keep moving!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Brandi - Many fitness experts advise breaking up your workouts......they say the minimum is 30 minutes. I go for that and then try to add 1 minute each time after that. Good Luck!!

To the rest of my favorite losers - KEEP MOVING :Pinkbounc AND KEEP LOSING :cheer2: :cheer2:

Will let you know how WW went.

Have a magical Disney Day!!

Linda

Just thought I would catch up with everyone. My weight loss has been slow. Things have been hectic here with meetings all week long and preparing for them that I am not taking the time to get in enough exercise or go to bed early. But that will change today before I fall back into the bad habits. Also, did anyone ever feel like they were not getting enough fiber when they started their programs? I feel like a rabbit, but still it seems like I need more fiber. This problem may account for 2-3 lbs of weight I am keeping on. ;)

You all sound like you are doing awesome! :cool1:

Kathy - Don't you just love tax season. I really miss doing taxes (I now strange), but it really got the adrenaline going to meet all the deadlines. Now my deadlines are just a different kind, but I sitll love cruching the numbers. Too bad stomach crunches aren't as easy. :rotfl2:

Brandi - Welcome!! You are off to a great start with the workouts.

Pam - Welcome!! The painting project should keep you busy for awhile. I know when I redecorate, I manage to lose a few lbs. Hopefully, I can get some painting done before DD17 graduates in 6 weeks! I love toile.

Regina - I'm glad that spring is there so you can get in more of the outdoor exercise! Keep up the good work.

Tara - You are so AWESOME! You just have a way of boosting everyone's spirits. Just think, you will soon be in the 170's!! Yeah!! :cheer2:

Linda - The storms were something esle last night! But luckily, I don't think we got it as bad as you did. It is very chilly and windy here. The whirlwind college trips are fun, but long, aren't they? Is your DD17 graduating this year or is she looking for next year?

To all the others that I missed, keep up the good work! You know you can do it!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good news is that DD17 finally made her decision on college and accepted there yesterday. Now, I only have 5 months to get things ready for her to leave home. But she will only be a few hours away, so I'll still see her and with 3 others at home, I know I will still be busy. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hi everyone, I have been lurking on this board for a few weeks, and have finally decided to join up with everyone! :cool1:

I am a 34 year old mother of two, 2 1/2 and 5 years old, still trying to get the weight off from my 2 1/2 year old!!!

I am currently at 176, and would be thrilled to get down to 150 by our trip to WDW in June. My long term goal is to be 130, hopefully by New Year's 2006.

I have been trying to work out (we have a membership to our neighborhood YMCA) for the last few months. I have found that if I start the week off right on Monday and go, then I usually go for the rest of the week. But if I don't go on Monday, then it is hard to get on track for the week. I still haven't managed to work out on the weekends, except for playing with the kids in the backyard (which I guess counts for something).

So, here are my pitfalls: snacking with the kids, fast food, not a huge vegetable lover, mexican food, and I would kill anyone for chips! :earseek:

I treat my kids to McDonald's once a week, but I have found that I really like their grilled ceaser salald with iced tea.

I think I have my chip problem solved, if I can stick with it, I buy the "light" lays potato chips, and have a handful with my lunch, usually half a sandwich and chips.

I really don't eat a huge amount of food, I just need help with people giving me a kick to exercise. I have been overweight for about 13 years, since I got married, and lost almost all of it once, before I had my first child and I did that by going to Jazzercise every day. So I am a true believer in that exercise is what is going to make the difference.

I am really excited about joining the club, and hope to give others inspiration and get inspiration in return!!

Linda and all you mid-westerners.........I guess we have the weather today that you had yesterday. My kids are on a recess break (so ofcourse, I hit the boards :teeth: ) and they are outside in the :sunny: without even a jacket on. Woohoo! The bad news is that I guess we will have the yucky weather tomorrow. Oh, well.

And, excuse me Linda, I believe that "I" hold the prize for "big butt". :smooth: (oh, wouldn't this just be a great time for the tag fairy to listen in? :rotfl: It would be just my luck. :p )

I'm a fan of contemporary Christian music........Steven Curtis Chapman, Scott Krypane (?), Watermark, Mercy Me, and my favorite group.....FFH!!

Glad you're back home safe and sound.

Lesli..............That sometimes happens to me. Sometimes I take a natural herbal laxative tea. My DH takes it almost everyday. He really needs to. It's amazing that he doesn't have the runs all of the time. I could never take it that much and you have to watch, because it can drain you of minerals, potassium even if it's natural. But it just makes him "regular" like me. We endearingly call it "poop tea". :teeth: I don't even have it once a month.

Hi to everyone else........sounds like things are going well..........have a great day all.......... :flower:

Okay Guys I need some help!! I'm at a very frustrating plateau that I just can't seem to get over. So I need some motivation maybe you guys could post a few things that I could try new that has helped you. I just looking for some variety anything would help.

Stuck at 180 and it stinks...I want to get to 175 before I leave..I have about 5 weeks and I think I can do it!! So lay those tips on me.

Sorry for not posting in awhile I have read and appreciate all the cheerleaders around here!! School is kicking my tail but only 5 more weeks and the degree is mine. So help me please!!!!

Desperate to be a loser,
Jen

Hey guys...school has started full swing so I'm hit and miss as far as posting goes. Mark me down for one pound lost though!! Not much but one pound is one pound!

Jen! Hi...... :wave2: I'm new to the "club". Nice to meet ya.

ALASKA!! Neat! :cool1: My good, good, friend moved to Palmer last year. they run a christian youth camp....two of them actually. I think one is closer to Fairbanks. Where are you?? Anchorage? I have family there too. My DH and my DD12 are going to go on a missions trip together to Alaska in September. I wish I were going. I would love to see Alaska. I will someday. :)

Oh, man, do I remember what is was like finishing up college. Good going for you. That's fantastic. YOu're almost through.

Unfortunately, I've been on a lot of plateaus in my dieting life. What plan are you on now? Do you exercise?? If you don't, start now. That will shake things up. If you already exercise, maybe switch routines.

It could be your body is just catching up. I have to wonder, all those times that I was on a plateau, if I wouldn't have given in and went off program, what would have happened? Most people give up, like me (not anymore :) ), and go off program because they don't like the waiting game. It's tough, right? But just think, if you stay true to your plan, what's the worst that can happen?? You plateau for a little longer. If you go off plan, then you gain some weight back and have to lose those pounds ALL OVER AGAIN!! AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!! That's no better!

Just stay true to the plan, man. :teeth: You can do it. We're here to help you. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

WELCOME JennaTX!!! It sounds like you have really taken a good luck at what has hindered you and laid out some good plans to take control!!! I bet pretty soon you won't even want chips! Once you start really working those muscles out they start to crave good foods and although I LOVE french fries..they just don't have that daily appeal like they used to...it's tough to avoid them on some days but I know I feel better with a fresh salad and grilled chicken! :) Come on in and get losing!!! :) We're here for you!!! :grouphug:

Kelscross!!! YEAH!!! Let's say SO LONG to that pounder!!! You are on your way BABY!!!! Hope school flies by for you and you can enjoy the summer break!! :)

Jen!!! It's time for some 150's BOOT CAMP! :) Thanks Oprah! You can definitely lose 5 pounds in that time...here are some ideas that have helped me jump start my losses...

1. Amend your diet..low carbing for a few days jump starts mine, then slowly add in only goood carbs..fresh fruit/veggies/whole grains. Avoid processed foods..they tend to have high amounts of sodium which can hurt you on the scale...stick to fresh meats and saute them in onions/olive oil. Cutting out diet sodas...focusing mainly on water with unsweet tea on occasion..just avoid sweeteners...they can play with your weight loss.

2. Switch up or increase your exercise...the first week may show the scale up because you're building muscle but it will melt off that 3rd week when it knows you mean business...if you're only doing 1-2 different types of exercise (i.e. treadmill/exercise video) then do 2 things...on the treadmill add 15 minutes to your time if you're under an hour and have spurts of cardio pushing...meaning take 5 minute intervals and up your speed to where your at your max training heart rate for that five minutes then settle back down for 5 minutes..do this throughout your work out..the speed will work muscles you haven't tapped into yet..same works for incline walking as well. Second vary your workouts..if you haven't done weights..buy some hand weights and do some arm/shoulder raises or any muscle group you haven't targeted yet...the bigger the muscle the more calories it will burn...keep those legs/tush/and abs moving and the weight will come down.

3. Workout for 6 days a week for atleast 45 minutes a day...that is when my body really clicks into losing time.

4. Don't skip meals...your body may go into conserve mode..if you can't find good food then try a replacement shake like slimfast or such..the consistent feedings keep your body an efficient calorie burning machine! :)

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Pam! I'm so bad with band names...but I have a hits of 2001 or something like that that has a bunch of those you named on it and they make me want to MOVE!!! I love how music can put you in a great exercise frame of mind! :)
And you're so right....just stay true to the plan that works for you and minimize the off days....the scale can't help but move! :)

Doing GREAT team!!!
Tara

I thought I had myself convinced not to exercise tonight. But the thought of staring at 4 walls motivated me down to the fitness center. I walked for 30 min on the treadmill.:banana: Only did 1.5 miles before my back said no more. Getting TOM (with a vengence) 7 months and thinking I had made it through menopause has killed my back this week. When will it finally end :confused3:confused3 I sympathize with all you younger club members out there who have years left of TOM.

Stayed pretty much on plan today. Had a cajun chicken wrap for lunch with caffeine free diet soda, and 3 peeps for dessert. For supper, I had a small helping of pasta, roll, diet coke and

large container of fresh fruit. I have always thought cantelope and honeydew melon was gross but have learned to almost like it since is seems to be included in most mixed fruit bowls. Went to the candy isle at the grocery store but nothing called my name or looked inviting. :confused3:confused3 I went with the intention of picking up some chocolate.

Am meeting with my trainer who is going to help me figure out a stretch cord routine to do resistance training along with the treasdmill and exercise bike. That should start toning the muscles and maybe jump start the weight loss. :cool1::cool1:

Hi 150s club!

How's everyone doing? I've been gone for awhile and just speedread through several day's posts - everyone's been busy!

Jen: I too have been stuck on a plateau for about two week - I finally got the scale moving again by... you won't believe it... drinking more water.

I tried eating less, hitting the gym more, going to bed earlier (to avoid late night eating) - nothing work. Then I realized that I haven't been drinking my usual quantities of water (usually around 100 ounces per day) - I picked up the bottle (wait.. let me rephrase that... ) :o) ... and the scale has started to move again.

Good luck all! I'm doing an extra banana dance for everyone.

Iris

Well I lost 8.2 for the month of March. I don't weigh in every week. I go to Weight Watchers, but I am lifetime, so I only have to pay when I go (so I go every 2-3 weeks to weigh in).

I am hoping to lose 5 pounds per month, so here's to April and hopefully another 5 (or more) pounds!

DJ

Hi everyone!! Long time no talk... I have been so down on myself this past month that I just totally gave up everything I worked so hard for in Jan/Feb.

My dd had a birthday and I overindulged on a DQ cake and it just went downhill from there.

I ate everything and anything I *thought* I wanted and didn't exercise, and didn't drink my water. AGH!!! Once that started I just felt worse and worse and I thought, why even bother now I've ruined it for myself. DS 10 is visiting grandparents in CA (first time away from home) and we have been eating our sorrow with fast food everyday for a week!!

I have been so down on myself that I couldn't even come and visit here.. to embarassed I guess.

Well yesterday our Lovely Leader Tara wrote me a note.... and it truly touched my heart. There was nothing mind blowing in it, no secret code, just a personal note to me. And it really made me feel so good.

I am going to get back on track here, I am going to start drinking my water again, I am going to start working out again. I AM GOING TO GET TO 150!!!

I started this morning doing the dreaded walk of shame... to the scale.... I hadn't weighed myself in a month. I ended the Feb challenge at 181 so I was sure that I was up.... way up. Well I weighed in at 182!! How could that be???!!!

So as down as I am upon myself I am encouraged too.

Here's to starting anew.. and my DIS friends!!! :)

Hang in there Good Ol Gal, you can do this do not let the past hold you back, today is a new day so focus on that and don't look back. I see you are from Ohio, so warmer weather is headed your way, take advantage of any nicer weather and get outdoors, I know this makes me feel more positve.

DJ - Congratulations on the 8.2 pounds, that is great.

I weighed in today and lost 1lb, so I have offically lost 10lbs.  . Not bad considering it was TOM for me and I normally maintain. So I am looking forward to a WOOSH week next week.

Regina

OH my oh my!!! Look at all these losses on April 1st...now you guys wouldn't fool an old fool would you???? I think my scale is playing an April Fool's joke on me...even after my last Cadbury yesterday I weighed in today 1.5 pounds less than yesterday!!!! I was at 181.5!!! That's beyond my first 10% goal and I'm only .5 pounds away from that beauuuuutiful 60 pound clippiE!!!! AND I'm only 1 pounds away from 170's!!! I'm gonna have to weigh daily to see these milestones pass...I really think it was that cup of coffee that did it for me...ya know that coffee is a great regulator! I'll have to save that trick for the next plateau I reach!

Kathy!!! You are eating GREAT!!! My Dad was just telling me the top "10" foods to eat (don't know what angle they're coming from) but cantelope and honeydew were at the top! :) You're going to DO THIS!!!

Iris!! WAHOOOOOO!!!! Your body is changing and morphing into a fit and healthy new bod! Goodbye pound.5! Gotta love that water...ooops!! Need to go get a glass!

westjones!!! So you mean I can add 8.2 to the March numbers???? OH MY GOODNESS !!!!        YOU BLEW AWAY YOUR GOAL for 5 pounds gone!!! dontcha love being ahead of schedule than behind! I love posting all those red numbers on page one!!! We're melting!!! :)

GOOD OL GAL!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: YEAH!!!! Sweetie...you were just really waiting for me to catch up so we could do this together...what a pal you are!!! YOU MAINTAINED a whole month!!! One pound up is really not real...you know it's gonna come off this week. I was 182 this morning..then I took a hot bath and .5 pounds came off so I actually saw 181.5!!! :) So we can DO THIS TOGETHER!!! Come on in and share your good days and bad...and how great it feels to be heading to the 150's!!! I really think I'll faint when I see that number but I'm READY!!!WE CAN DO THIS!!

Regina!!!! A pound with TOM is HUGE CELEBRATION TIME!!! That's like the BOMB!! :) :cheer2: You're 10 pounds is GONE forever and each 10 pound increment seems to bring a new body to the mirror...after 10 pounds I really see big changes in my shoulders/legs/belly....so SMILE and realize your hard work is paying off!!

Great work team!!! Let's BLAST INTO APRIL!!!
Tara

Mornin LOSERS!!

Well I am officially a WW member. Went to my first meeting last night and am feeling pretty good about it. Decided to give CORE a try for the first week. Didn't like the idea of journaling but if that is what it takes then that will be it. :) So hopefully I will be yelling in happiness about my losses next week at this time. ;)

By The Way - What plan or eating lifestyle is everyone following? Would love to take this poll.......We are such a GREAT BUNCH OF LOSERS!! :grouphug:

Lesli54 - My daughter is a junior in high school wishing she was graduating this year:) She is ready to go to college and really doesn't like the kids in high school. My older daughter (20) is a junior in college and felt the same way. Have a feeling senior of high school will be loooooooooooooong :rotfl:

JennaTX - Welcome!! This best piece of advice I can offer is to reaffirm everything that has been told to you.....keep moving (mix it up :Pinkbounc ), important to drink your water :drinking1 and make sure you are giving your body enough calories......if you don't eat enough you are telling your body to go in the starvation mode and it will shut down.....GOOD LUCK!!

Pamela - We will have to compare butts to see who gets the prize for "biggest butt" :rotfl2: First one to lose their big butt is the WINNER!! Ready set goooooooooooooooooo :rotfl:

Jen - Congrats on your degree (what is it in?)......what a  time in your life........trying to juggle alot at once. Are you eating enough of the right kinds of food? How about mixing up the exercise? It will all come together when you are done with school. Hang in there!! :cheer2:

Kelscross - WOO HOO!! I accept any losses at all!!!

DJ - You are my inspiration :worship: 8.2 pounds is AWESOME!! I want to be like you :cool1:

Good Ol Gal - Congrats on starting anew with a new ATTITUDE!! :bounce: Come join us on our quest to be the BIGGEST LOSERS!! Keep moving - keep losing!!

Regina - CONGRATS!! Another inspiration for me........keep going LOSER :flower:

To the rest of the team :grouphug: KEEP MOVING AND LOSING!!

Have a magical Disney Day!! :earsboy:

Count me in! I'll be thrilled with being in the 150's, tho I need and hope to go lower - at least 144 to be at top end of WW goal. My Dr. says 135/140 max.

I first joined WW in late Jan 2003, lost 37 lbs - made it to 162.2 and then life fell apart and I fell off program. I restarted several times but just couldn't do it. I restarted in Jan for the LAST time at 185.6 and have lost 8 lbs.

I've a wedding in FL 7/2 that I need to get into clothes for and just need to lose for health.

Thanks all for the support. I am definitely one who can't do this alone!!

Julie

Hi guys. I'm slowly getting caught up with this thread and saw this post. Hey Julie............My niece's wedding is 7/2........we both have a wedding to shoot for. We could be wedding buddies!!! :teeth:

Well, off to read a little more of the thread while my kids work on their Language pages. :)

JennaTx - WELCOME! Don't worry, the chips will fade away in time and if you take each day as it comes, you can change your habits little by little. Remember, lifestyle changes take time to build good habits.

Pamela - Thank you for the tip, I really like tea. I noticed Tara mentioned that coffee helps her, but I don't care for coffee. It got me to thinking though, I always had a cup of grapefruit juice every morning before starting my plan and never had a problem. Maybe, I will add that back in and see what happens. It's funny that ONE change in your diet could make a world of difference. Great job at cheering people on! :cheer2:

Jen - Just be patient and you will get past the plateau. Just shake things up a bit. Good luck on your school work, I know it is hard to "do it all". Just finished my degree last fall. YEAH! You can do it!

Kelscross - 1 lb is all it takes, so count it! Good luck on your studies. :cool1:

Tara - I should probably tread lightly when I say this, but a 150's Boot Camp? Do you think we are machines? ;) Congrats on being .5lbs closer to a new clippie! :cool1:

Kathy - Great job at deciding to exercise rather than look at the walls. Sorry to hear that your back is bothering you. :wizard:

Iris - That water is very important. Isn't it funny how a little less water can make such a big difference? :drinking1

DJ - Way to go on the weight loss! Keep up the good work.

GoodOlGal - Thing important thing is that you are picking yourself up and dusting off! Obviously, you have learned a few tricks from when you were losing, because you didn't gain everything back when you were down. Now that is progress! :cheer2:

Linda - I am not doing WW, but I have been journaling everything I eat. To me it is the best way to realize and understand what you eat and when. I started with Dr. Phil's 14 day plan. Now, I am using it as a guide to keep on the right track (3 meals, 2 snacks, well portioned, and well balanced). My goal was to change my eating habits and make them healthier. So far so good. BTW, my DD17 never really liked HS either and hates all the pettiness. She is so glad that she is done in a few weeks and is looking forward to finding people with similar interests. I figured it was because we raised her to be independent and to not be afraid to do her own thing. Oh well, it could be worse. ;)

Regina - Great job on the 1 lb loss! Keep it up! :cheer2:

Everyone have a great day and here is to great losses in April!! :cheer2:

Yikes, I have got some back reading to do to catch up!! Welcome to all the newbies!! :wave2: And congrats to the losers! And should you be maintaining or "eek" gaining don't give up Rome wasn't built in a day and neither were you! :flower:

Been really busy with DD senior projects and chorus functions. And yes, planning the remodeling. Uh, need to move from planning to DOING pretty quick! Eating plan is going great, water great but the exercise is not so good. Will I ever get into a grove???? :confused3

I'll get to reading now and catch up with when I finish!!

Hey, it's Friday give yourself a :grouphug: another week down!!
