Hi again!!

Kathy - Forgot to say

CONGRATULATIONS!!
:jumping1:

TO YOUR DAUGHTER!!
:jumping1: :jumping1:

DD21 is planning on applying in March and hopes to be there next summer......

What was the phone interview like? How long did it take until she was notified? Can you PM me with the details?

Thanks!!
Linda

Linda - I will have Erin PM you. She originally applied and interviewed for the advanced internship. She interviewed at school maybe 3 week ago and found out last Monday that they had changed their policy and she had to do the regular program first. She was upset at first and after thinking about it, she is happy to be going.

Tara - must be 'great' minds think alike. I had popcorn for supper the last 2 nights. Saturday popcorn was preceeded by a Coldstone sundae first.

The scale was good this morning. I only have .6 lbs to get back to the 160's. Will have to wait until after the WDW trip in 18 days to open the Take 5 though. I am only 1.5 lb away from getting my 10 lb clippie. Maybe I will actually acheive it this month.

Have a great day. New to get to work even though my mind is still on vacation.

Good morning everyone. Yes I did make it to Toys-R-Us on Friday. I got everything (and more) that I was going for. They advertised that they were opening at 6:00 but were already opened at 5:30 when I got there. I went mainly for the portable DVD player they were selling. Our trip to Disney will be a lot more fun for my son now that he can watch a movie or two on the way. I also hit Target, Best Buy and Old Navy. I was really surprised most places were fine, not crazy at all. Best Buy was the worst. We didn't go super early either. I got a great start on our Christmas shopping which is wonderful!!!

I did pretty good with eating this weekend. We had a potluck dinner at church last night and had more dessert than I should have. My new goal is to lose some weight by New Year's weekend. That is when we will be celebrating Christmas with the skinny relatives. Hopefully all the holiday running around will keep me busy and away from junk food. We put up all of our decorations this weekend which kept me busy and I found that helped in my eating with me eating less.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Haley

Dinner was spaghetti and sauce...and tomato soup because I managed to drop all the sketti on the floor. *grumble*

Congrats to ERIN!!!!!!!!!!! Disney yays!!

B: egg with ham, 2 slices toast, cherry tomatoes (5)
L: footlong hotdog and fries :guilty: (11)
S: carrots and tomatoes and water.

2 meals out of 3 surely isn't bad!!

TOM is coming...I can feel him! The cats are on my last nerves with the Christmas tree.

Debra! Oh, mother-n-laws...or really anyone who nags about your weight...it's funny they won't nag as much when you're overweight which is much more dangerous than being closer to a good weight. But none of us want that either, I guess! :) But I have been there...in college I got down to the low 130's (might have even dipped into 120's :earseek: )..I'm 5'8 and I can tell you for me, I'd stick to anywhere around 138 at my lowest. But that 138 is with much more muscle mass...I had sculpted arms (beneath all the skin) and felt great....but when the scales went below 135, I had more comments that I favored Karen Carpenter (I do favor her when I"m thin, but I think it was mainly because I looked tooo thin) I wouldn't focus on the number as much as I'd focus on the muscle tone....do you do any free weights or nautilus? They will keep your bones healthy and burn fuel well. Be proud and thank her for her concern...just keep talking about how STRONG and healthy you feel! :)
Tara

Thanks Tara,
I guess when I look in the mirror I think I still need to lose a lot more weight.....but the problem is probably more about loose skin...UGH! It is awful. I talked with my doctor and she told me to stop losing weight and that there is nothing I can do about the hanging buldge around my tummy except for a tummy tuck (which I do not want!). My doctor did say to give it until April or May to see just how much my skin might tighten up. I am using lotion every night hoping it helps (guess it can't hurt). I have been so depressed about this ever since my doctor told me that the hanging stuff won't go away.

So I guess maybe I am at a good weight, Tara, if you were getting the same kind of comments at 5'8" and a weight in the low 130's. I really don't care what I way, I just want that hanging stuff gone (without surgery, which I can not afford and wouldn't want to do even if I had the money).

When I was pregnant with the twins my skin was stretched so tight, and the problem area is right where my c-section was made, so it is probably a weak area.

OK, I am going to just try to focus on being healthy, and stop worrying about that ugly area. At least my clothes cover it up.

Thanks again, Tara. You really helped me put some things in perspective.
Debra

Debra! I can offer hope! I lost 90 pounds in college (granted a 19 year old's skin may be more bouncy back) but my skin really pulled itself together. Now after children I bounced up to 258! I'm down 70 pounds from that and can already tell that the skin is much better than it was 2 years ago when I lost the first 50. So, be patient and drink lots of water...the skin is the biggest organ we have and it requires good fluids...also maybe a multivitamin or Vitamin E is supposed to be good for skin/hair/nails. I really think you'll be pleased in another year...and thank goodness for those Miraclesuit bathing suits...you'll never even notice the flab! :)

You are doing SO FAB!! And when I thought about sneaking snacks today..I said NO!!! I will lose this weight! :)

Tara

Snack: carrots and tomatoes
First dinner; tomato soup and marshmallows
Second dinner: fruit and walnut, chicken cordon blue

I have got to stop having two dinners!! I mean, mom got home late tonight, dad and brother were at wrestling...I really do have no patience!

Tomorrow:
B: egg with ham, 2 slices toast, carrots
L: 1/2 slice pizza
D: ??
S:

It will be very busy tomorrow. I have to clean, finish my posters for Cheerleading and start and end the required fundraiser for Student Council. Ay yi yi!

I can do this! I have a good feeling about tomorrow.

Thanks Tara! That is good to hear. I have no desire to try surgery, so I will be patient and keep up with lotion and drinking water and I do take a multivitamin every day. I don't expect it to be flat, I know that is not going to happen, but I just want it pull in and firm up so it doesn't look so bad.

Thanks for the encouragement!
Debra

Jen..those second dinners (or rather desserts) have sunk me this week...I weighed yesterday and ugh...I won't even go there...but I am on my first 20 pound quest and I can say that when I get both my 20 pound quests gone I'll be in the 140's where I want to stay so I'm okay with that.

Going desperate because I have had NO self control with eating lately...am slimfasting breakfast/dinner for 28 days....just really curious to see how many pounds that will shed. Got lots of good veggies at the store last night...so I'm making some really good salads and turkey/tuna/ham sandwiches on wheat with good veggies on them as my lunches. On the weekend I'll eat a good dinner....I'm off and LOSING!!! I'll report my losses each Monday. Will be honest and true to this one...figure I can give anything 28 days! :)

Tara

Morning Group!! :cold: :cold:

The high is going to be 34 degrees today with wind.............I WANT TO MOVE!!!! :cold: :cold:

Accomplishment of yesterday - DIDN'T EAT AFTER DINNER!!! :cool1: :goodvibes :cool1: Yea for me!! Kept my little fingers busy!!

Drank my water and today the scale showed 172.5........so creeping back to that 171 plateau that I am so familiar with .........but this time I will run right over that number :moped: :moped:

Have leftovers for lunch. Ate oatmeal with blueberries and an orange and yogurt for breakfast....too much but all looked good.

Started the subbing assignment with the low functioning 4th grade autistic boy..........when he plops on the ground in defiance I can't budge him....big strong boy.........was physically exhausted yesteday. Does that count for strength training :flower: :flower:

Jen- I hear you on seconds for dinner. Recently a BIG problem. While making dinner I will have a dinner of leftovers from the fridge. WE NEED TO STOP THE MADNESS NOW!!!!

Kathy - Thanks for the info on the college program and to your daughter. Have forwarded onto my daughter.

Debra - You will be rewarded with your patience and determination.......just keep drinking that water......keeps the skin smooth and elastic. :goodvibes

Haley - Are all those presents wrapped yet? When you are done can you come do mine? :teeth:

How is everyone else doing?

Off to work

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Happy Tuesday!

How is everyone? I'm off to a new start!

Yesterday I almost stuck to my eating plan (there was that unplanned event with cheese and crackers... :rotfl: ), and I got back on the treadmill for an hour. I already laid my clothes out for when I get home today.

I'm feeling good and hopeful, and determined to get that clippie! I still didn't get on the scale, I'm waiting a full week so I won't be so depressed when I do get on. Hopefully, the clippie will be in sight at that point.

Linda -- you did a fantastic job not eating after dinner! Congratulations, that is a real accomplishment :goodvibes

Tara -- I completely understand where you are coming. I've been absorbing any food in a 10 ft. radius for the past week. Like you, I just can't do this anymore. There are new clippies and great muscle tone in our future, I am confident! :flower:

Jen -- 2 dinners would be doing me in, too. I have a hard time knowing I'm full, so that makes it worse. Try to really listen to your body and eat when you are hungry, if you can.

Debra -- I'm so sorry your Thanksgiving was not all you were hoping for. I know it must have been so hard to hear that from your mil, after you have worked so hard to be healthy. I agree about surgery, and I think you are wise to keep lotioning, taking vitamins, and toning. Those are all healthy, non-invasive things to do, and I bet you will get good results.

Haley -- Lucky you! I would love to have a month before my gathering with the "thin-laws"! You can do a lot before New Year's, and feel really good about yourself, too. It sounds like you made great headway on Christmas, too. That's awesome. Now you can enjoy and be less frantic, which will ease your stress in general. :bounce:

Kathy -- :Pinkbounc Congratulations on your DD's winter plans! What a fabulous experience she will have. I definitely see a Donald medal in your future!

Tiff & Danauk -- It's almost a brand new month, the possibilities are endless! :sunny:

I hope everyone is off to a wonderful day!

Maria

Hi everyone, thanks for making me feel welcome. I've just got back from weight watchers. I only lost 1/2lb this week which I am quite dissapointed with as I have tried really hard this week. Oh well, I just hope for a bigger loss next week (I really want to loose 1.5lb next week to get to my next silver 7 - do you do silver 7's on US weight watchers?). However I have my SIL's hen weekend this weekend which I want to enjoy but don't want to ruin my diet over. I plan to save points through the week though so I can have a glass of wine or 2 over the weekend (we are going for a spa weekend.) I guess I should still be happy as I have lost 33 1/2lb on weight watchers (40 1/2lb overall as I lost 7lb before I started WW.)Oh well. I'm off to have dinner: Chicken and mango with herb potatoes (5 points) and a weight watchers warm chocolate pudding (2.5 points.)

Hi Everyone,

Ya probably don't remember me, but I was on this thread a few months ago. Anyway, my life has slowed down a bit so I'm back with a vengence. When I was on before I was at 200lbs. Well at this point I'm at 185. I started going to a gym along the lines of a curves but it is called Slim and Tone. It is a circuit type place but also has classes and tread mills. I also took a part time job there working two nights a week which gives me time to do an additonal workout. I have been going in at 6:15 am and walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes, than works abs and thighs. I get home for 7 so I can get my oldest dd on the bus. I found that this really has helped start my day and gives me lots of energy.

I also decided that I needed the support from you ladies who can relate to my love of Disney and my goal to be healthier when I get there in May.

Welcome back, Tracy!!!

We can do this!!!!

Today was a really good eating day for me. So far. I've been pretty much listening to my body. It's amazing how many times I've noticed what I really want and don't want!

B: egg with ham, 1.5 cups cereal (5)
L: 1/2 cup pasta and tomato juice (poor sub for spaghetti) 3...breadstick (3)
S: 10 marshmallows (4), 1 mug tomato soup (2)

Thanks for the tip, Maria.

I think I might walk today provided the sky doesn't come down on us!

Linda!! Here's some cheer to blow you right into the 160's!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: You can do it this time!

Maria!! GREAT JOB on planning the exercise..I bet you're on that treadmill right now!!! Push those legs!! EAch push puts you closer to GOAL!!! :sunny:

Danauk!!! Let's celebrate that 1/2 pound!!! Little do you know but that 1/2 pound is GREAT preparation for a big loss the next week..sometimes when we know we've been GREAT eating it actually could mean we ate so much less than our bodies anticipate that it kind of goes into starve mode and reserves some...once you stick to that amount of eating it lets go and you have a WHOOSH loss!!! So don't get discouraged and stick with it...you'll have a big loss in your future! :)

TRACY!!!! WAHOO!!!! Onederland BABY!!! I sure did miss you losing all those 15 pounds without us!!! BUT WE'RE glad you're here again!!! I'm at the same boat as you and am upping my strength training..I did Gilad on TV today and it felt GREAT! I'm really feeling a change in my strength....keep sharing your workouts it'll help us all keep exercise up front! :)

Jen!!! Dontcha love it when you listen to your body and just eat what you need? Man, that's the REAL key to losing and staying down there! GREAT JOB ON DOING IT!!!!

Well, I have successfully completed my day one of slimfast...my lunch did not go so well, right when I was about to make a killer turkey sandwich the phone rang and I realized I had forgotten our science lab...so I had to think of something I could take with me out the door...me and the kids got a piece of Hawaiian bread, pepperoni slices and cheese folded over and shoved it in. I hate eating on the go..it's almost like you didn't eat at all! :) Then while filling my kids advent calendar (3 pieces of candy each day) I snuck two miniature Hershey darks...then had pistachios for snack....so all in all not bad..but I really was looking forward to that turkey sandwich! :)

Have a great losing day!!! Everyone ...if you're reading this and it's Monday night...DON'T NIBBLE TONIGHT!!! IT could be that 1/2 pound that comes off when you least expect it! :)

Tara

Well I have now completed 2 days of being back OP after Thanksgiving. Yesterday was xt- did the wATP 3 mile tape & today I will walk at the track for an hour. Should be 4 miles.

Usually , I am very good during the week & on the weekend I let myself have a cheat meal (which sometimes turns into a cheat day) I have been able to lose 2-3 lbs a week doing this provided I dont go overboard. Well I have decided no more cheat meals until I see onederland  6 more lbs to get there. I also have to go home for Christmas in 2 1/2 weeks & want off as much by then as possible.

Welcome back Tracy! I'm new here, but this is a great, supportive & motivating group. :cheer2:

Tara-good luck with the slimfast experiment. I love slimfast! It also has a good ratio of protien/carbs for the walking your doing. And you made me want a good turkey sandwich. :) Since Thanksgiving wasnt at my house I didnt have any leftovers for one. My weekend of eating was awful, but now we are moving foward & downward.

Maria- great job on the 1 hr of treadmill!

Keep up the good work everyone. Just think, we will have this great jump start for the new year.

I have been lurking and not posting. I have been keeping up with my half marathon training by walking 70 min on the TM Monday and using the exercise bike for 48 min yesterday. I have become addicted to The Pretender so the exercise inside is getting easier. Mon I didn't feel like walking but forced myself and felt great after.

Tara - you will be happy to know, I HAVE SLOWED DOWN. I only worked 1.5 hours last week, managed 8 on Mon, maybe 5 yesterday, and have today off. If I slow down much more, I won't be working at all. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Today is filled with running around between appts. Have to take DD2 to the ENT to see if he will do anything about her grossly enlarged tonsils. If he decides to take them out, she has very little time to have it scheduled. We are going to WDW the 17th and will be driving down again on the 3rd of Jan so she can start her 5 months in the WDW college program. She also has another appt right after teh ENT, PT at 1 (which she can drive herself to). I have a dentist appt at 1:30.

Yesterday, I got my elbow injected because of acute tennis elbow which is funny as I have never played tennis in my life and wouldn't be able to do it left handed anyway. I had the shot about 6 weeks ago also but this one is much more painful. Last night I could hardly bend the elbow enough to take my bedtime medicine. It is a little better this morning, I can flex it up but it is still very painful to straighten it. Luckily, I still have pain meds from my shoulder surgery.

Let's get these pounds melting away. Have a great LOSING day everyone.

TiffJ...I'm with YOU!!! No more cheat meals until I see my lowest 2 months ago 175...now, I will have a gingerbread man...just can't resist those! :) But I'm hoping a month of slimfasting will get me back there and then I can push hard and strong to see 160's..oh man, it seems like a dream..but I KNOW we can get there!! You must be very tall!!! Cause no way no how would I have thought you weren't already in onederland!!! You hide it VERY WELL!!! :) Can't wait for our walk this weekend! I did Gilad yesterday and my gluteus' are killing me!!! I'm going to do them again today hoping the extra burn will knock off the soreness! :)

Kathy!!! Girl! You are an ALL or nothing type of gal! Let's keep you working but let's find a pace that's good! :) Man, I wish I had the same kind of stamina and discipline you have working extra hours towards my weight losing style! I'd be at goal by Valentine's! :) Now I'm shooting for Tax Day...I bet you can hit goal by then, too! :)

Off to slimfast and do my Gilad! :)
Have a GREAT DAY EVERYONE!
Tara

Good Morning Everyone!! :earsboy:

Well today could have potentially been one of those days where I skipped the gym but I would have had to live with the guilt I would have felt so I pressed on. Dh was up late cutting deer(it's hunting season in PA and he is a hunter) Anyway, he gets outta bed and I look at the alarm clock, which I can't see clearly because I can't see a darn thing with-out my contacts. Anyway, he tells me it is 6am. AAARRRGGGHHHH I need to be at the gym NOW!! Anyway, I got up dressed, put those contacts in and off I went. I walked for 30 minutes to be 1.6 miles. Did some ab work on the stability ball and some thigh work on the machine. I need to do more thigh work. Oh heck I need to do more ab work as well. Oh, and as I was walking on the treadmill I used 3lb weights to work the arms. The owner of the club was at the gym this morning so we talked for the entire time, so it made it less painful. I work at the gym 2 days a week, for a sanity break(I have 6 children) so I use this as ME time, so anyway we talking about things going on at the gym and what kind of promotions she could run.

I did take the walking to Disney idea from these boards. Instead it will be a walking to your vacation(which in my case IS Disney) She like that idea, so we'll see if she implements it.

NVcpa, you sure are busy today. How did your daughter get into the college program and what is she studying?

Tara.. I'm doing slimfast as well. I do it for breakfast and lunch and than I eat dinner, I have noticed that my dinner appetite is not nearly as big as it used to be. So that is a good thing.

Today is a bad day for dinner, I have to pick up my two oldest daughters (11, 8) from their seperate cheerleading practices, get dinner and than get homework done. These days are pretty rough, and I usually the after school hours because it is sooo hectic around here, Wednesdays and Mondays are the pits though. So back to dinner, I need to get something quick and that isn't always easy to find especially if I want it to be healthy.

Ok enough rambling, I'm off to call for and ADR for 50's prime time cafe for out trip in MAY

Have a losing day everyone and stick to healthy eating.

Welcome back Tracy! This is a tough time of year to lose weight, but it is a great time to get started again! Many people gain weight during the holiday, so losing a little or even staying the same is a victory!

To Everyone: It will be much easier once Jan. 1st come! There will be commericals and articles on TV about losing weight and it will feel like more and more people are on the same page as those of us trying to lose weight. This holiday time is just a tough time.

Jen: Marshmallows and Tomato Soup? What can I say? :crazy2: But it reminds me of when I was a teenager and I had this 'thing' for raspberry yogurt and chocolate pudding (had it every day for lunch for a month one summer). :goodvibes

Well I had some big news yesterday........
As you guys know, my inlaws came for Thanksgiving (they do this every year). They live 6 hours away, so we don't see them much. They were talking about how my DH's sister (their daughter) wants to go to WDW this summer and take her two kids. My inlaws have to drive them because she won't drive and her DH won't go on vacations. Since there are 5 of them it makes it more difficult to get a room, and money is not plentiful for them, but her son will be 6 and her daughter will be 14 and she really wants to do this before her DD goes to high school.

ANYWAY, after his parents left, I talked with DH and suggested that we make reservations for them and for us with our DVC points this summer. There are a few rooms at BWVs that allow 5 in a room in a studio (the studio-plus rooms that have a daybed in them along with the queen and pull out bed). I called member services and asked about the studio-plus rooms for 5 and was able to book one for them for 4 nights and then another studio for the 4 of us for the same 4 nights with EXACTLY the points I had left for 2006! It was like it was meant to be! I wish I could have booked 5 nights, but I didn't want to borrow points (in case they cancel on us).

We called and asked them if they wanted to so this, and they were SO excited! My inlaws had mentioned this weekend that they were going to have to help my SIL pay for the hotel this summer (I think they wanted to let us know up front--they are always spending money on her and her kids, but financially, they are at a different place than we are, so I know it is only because they feel sorry for them). I showed them a WDW planning video so they could see Port Orleans (since it allows 5 in a room). While they were watching the video my MIL said to my FIL, "Maybe one day we can go ourselves and try one of the deluxe hotels." I never thought they wanted to go. They have always acted like WDW is SO boring! But they haven't been there in 10 years. WDW has changed a lot over the past decade.

ANYWAY....long story.....we are all going together! I was so excited that I was able to book the 5 of them in at BWVs! It is the only DVC resort that offers that fifth person option, and I was so afraid it would be booked up (and the standard rooms were already booked, but I had just enough points for the perferred views, so I splurged).

And yes, this is the same MIL that made the comments about me being too thin, but as I have had time to reflect on it, I realize that she was just concerned. I didn't tell her I had lost weight, I let her just show up and see me (thinking it would be funny) and I am sure it just shocked her. I need to remember to be thankful to have people in my life that care about me (my own parents are both gone now, so my inlaws are the only grandparents my children have in their lives now).

I'm excited, but mostly because my DH is SOOOOO excited! I have NEVER seen him so excited about a trip to WDW before! He stayed up late gathering pictures of BWVs to email to his dad. It is SO cute to see DH all geared up and hyped about this trip (we have been to WDW so many times, that it isn't all that thrilling for him any more--I'm the Disney nut).

OK, I have gone on and on too long. Sorry guys! It is just such an exciting thing here in our house. We are all so thrilled to be able to do this for my DH's family and to know my kids are going to have this trip with their grandparents and their cousins (and the cousins all get along great).

That won't be until June, so we have a long wait, but the rooms are booked! So we just have to wait for school to get out!
