Pre-trip day - got up at 7 am, worked to 3:30, drove 3 hours to Albany to pick DD2 up at the train station in Albany. Continued to drive another 2.5 hours to Hartford, Ct where we spent the night. Got in at 10:30 with DD2 ariving at 11:30. We scheduled a 4:30 AM wake-up call as our plane was supposed to leave at 6 am. (I spent the night, what there was of it, watching the clock so we didn't oversleep.)
Travel - boarded the plane on time for a layover at Washington/Dulles. We were supposed to arrive at 7:35 to catch a flight leaving at 8:25. Instead of leaving, we taxied out to a parking lot for planes to sit for an hour because Dulles had a ground stop in effect and no planes could take off or land. We arrived at Dulles at 8:18 an the pilot said all planes had been delayed. We ran from one end of the terminal to the other only to find out our flight left on time. It was short 50 passengers who didn't make the connection. The airline, being so helpful, re-ticketed us on a 12:20 flight out. Since all the flights to Orlando were already sold out, we were put on standby with over 209 other people. DD2 did not agree with this scenario, so she called United herself and got us confirmed on a 1:10 flight to Charlotte, NC and getting us to Orlando at 5:30. We decided to go over to the terminal where the other plane was supposed to leave from and get the new tickets. When we arrived there, they were boarding a flight to Pittsburgh. They put us on that flight, with no boarding passes, and told us there was a flight to Orlando leaving at 11:20. We arrived in Pitt at 11:03. As luck would have it, we again had to run to the opposite end of the airport to another terminal. We made it to the other terminal just as they were getting ready to close the doors for take-off. They printed out our boarding passes and we were on our way. Rather than arriving in Orlando at 10:30 am, we arrived at 2:30 and checked into Old Key West at 3 PM.
With so much running around the airports, we never go a chance to eat. We had priority seating for 5:30 at Liberty Tree Tavern followed by tickets for
MNSSHP. The food was served family style with a mixed green salad, rolls, pork, roast beef, turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I ate the salad, roll, all three meats, 2 dabs of mashed potatoes, and lots of green beans. The dessert was warn cherry cobbler with ice cream. Since I had been so good with the rest of the meal, I had 2

helpings of the dessert.
MNSSHP - the park was opened until midnight for the party. We rode all the rides, without any lines, trick or treated (got about 3 lbs of candy) and walked for miles. (Had to walk off the dessert.)

We watched the fireworks, which were a special edition for the party, and then watched the 10 pm parade. The parade was preceeded with the ride of the headless horseman. The parade was also special for the party and made us wish we had watched it at 8 pm also.
Left the park around midnight to get some much need sleep, at least 5 hours worth. Lynne (DD2) and I were signed up the do the Central Florida Race for the Cure the following morning. We had to be at Animal Kingdom at 6 am to pick up our shirts and race packet. (We try to do one race per year in celebration of my mother being a survivor.) We walked the 5K in just over 53 min. My goal was to finish in under 50 but my feet protested. I ended up with blisters (which plagued my the rest of the vacation) on both little toes and the ball of my foot from Friday's walking. I evidently tried to compensate for the blisters by changing my gait and ended up with a very sore hip and shin splints on the leg I have never had them on.
Tara - my computer stayed in my car in CT and I tried not to think about work.
Will continue on with our trip tomorrow.
