Yeah! It's Friday and we have a lovely long weekend! Plenty of time for good choices and getting back on track.
I was so pleased that I didn't go back to the kitchen last night. I really wanted to, but I just couldn't let that happen. Today I was out of oatmeal (oh, no! this could be the start of a disaster...), but I had a Kashi bar instead. So far, I'm doing o.k. I also plan to have Subway for lunch, so I should keep the points low going into the evening.
I'm missing my exercise walking to the subway because we don't feel comfortable having me ride it today. I know that we are probably being way overly cautious, but a supposed threat in NY could very easily happen in Boston, so my dh is picking me up this afternoon.
This is a takeout night for us, so lots of peril ahead. All I have to do is make my mind up that I'm having baked or broiled seafood, and stick to it! That means no onion rings, did I mention they are so good?! Maybe I'll have the lobster roll so I'm having a treat without fried batter...
Tara -- We are about to get hit with a very rainy weekend. If your body said you needed sleep, I'm sure you did. I would probably weigh a lot less if I listened to my body more. Thirsty = drink, not eat. Sleep at a decent hour. If you really can't keep your eyes open, close them, etc. We are off to a great start, and we are going to have a wonderful weekend!
Regina -- I hope this last trip is great for you! It's nice to have one last great memory of summer before the crisp winds of Autumn begin to blow. I'm feeling lazy listening to your schedule! I don't get up until 5:45, and I never work out before I get to work at 7:30. I have about an hour commute, but if I got up earlier, I could do more. I find it really hard to go to bed at 10, when I should. I want to be up later, but I really have to have 7-8 hours of sleep, or I don't function well. I do spend most of my commute walking (that's why it takes so long), and then I try to walk for about 40 minutes during the day. Plus I have the walk in the afternoon back to the subway. I guess I'm getting more exercise in than I realized! Anyway, I just want to commend you on having your priorities in order. Exercise is so important, and you and Tara are great examples for the rest of us! Plus, if you do it first thing, you can't get tired later and decide not to go... Excellent strategy!
Debra -- You are our new walking star! Did your dd make the dance team? I know that is huge for her.
Lisa -- Hello! Hope your reading even when you don't have time to write! We're thinking of you and hoping you are having a great week.
Linda -- How was teaching the preschoolers? I can imagine that must have been quite the challenge, but also very rewarding. I hope Cody is letting you get a good night's sleep!
Kathy T -- I know you are rolling along, one more small success each day!
Kathy -- We hope you are having the most fabulous vacation!
Haley -- We will resist the cookies! We will resist the cookies! It's good practice for Halloween...arrrgh! I have not bought Brach's autumn mix yet, because I just devour it. I'm seeing how long into October I can go without getting some. I think this weekend may be my Waterloo...
Steph -- I understand how you feel about your pet. I am going to be devastated when my 2 12-yr. old cats pass on. It is so hard to lose a family member. Regina had good advice, do try to remember the happy times.
Jen -- You are so busy! I hope you are getting plenty of rest with all those activities! I hope you're working on a Halloween cheer to get us through all those mini candy bars!
We can do this! Everybody try to check in at least once this weekend, so we can all feel the support. Long weekends can be...long!

This time of year I normally just buy a bag of candy corn (that we never finish) but I thought my son would enjoy the pumpkins too. I do ok with that stuff because I only eat a few all season and wind up throwing away what is not eaten by anyone else. My trouble is the chocolate. I bought a bag on Hershey kisses yesterday to put in the pumpkin in my foyer. So far so good I have only eaten two. We'll see how much will power I have in a few days. Anyway that made me laugh.
I'm psyched and a little nervous, frankly. This will be our first time back since graduation about three years ago. We are going to take a campus tour, eat in the alumni tent, go to the football game, and shop at the usual campus stores.

I know I know......wait until after TOM has come and gone.
There is a college for everyone - just hope hers is one of the ones she applied to.
I went to school during the Martin Luther King racial riots in Chicago and didn't have homecoming until my senior year. No dances, rallies, etc. Missed out alot so love to hear all the great things you are doing
to your friends. It is so hard to watch someone hurt. BUT you must try not to let it impact your eating style. You have come sooooooooooo far - be strong. I know that your friends would not want their sadness to impact you.
It is tough to make yourself a priority when your kids aren't feeling well.
Just great...
