We just got back from 10 days presidents week, most of our group events were meals. there was 15 of us, 9 true adults, 1 disney adult (11yo) and 5 kids. I booked everything 180 days out through group dining, which I think was key to getting adrs.
Here's what we did and how it worked for us.

Sat night 7:15 HDDR. This was the group photo plan also, so we got to FW early, which would have been great except it was so cold, even for us Northerners. We were catagory 2 on the balcony @ 3 tables next to each other. It was good for our group to be on the balcony, everyone could see. We know the show is hokey but we love it, and the group really enjoyed it. The food was good and plentiful. We all left singing Hoop de doo on the bus back to the car. Great start to the trip.

Sunday dinner LTT: the plan was to meet in Frontier Town for the 3:00 parade and head to LTT for 4:00 ADRs. We were seated again all together @ 3 tables in a row. Lot's of character interaction, food was good and plentiful. We had ordered a cake for my 3 yo b'day, that was fun and they brought a card signed by the characters and wait staff.

Tuesday PSB EPCOT: I made the ADR for 8:45, I knew that it was EMH, I called (a couple of times) to clarify we could enter early and was told there was a special line for guests with ADRs, when we got to EPCOT it was (as expected) packed. I spoke to 2 CM's and a supervisor who told us there was no special line for guests with ADRs and practiclly accused me of lying, but assured us they would hold our ADR. I called Guest services as we waited in line and they told me the PSB ADR line didn't exist, the clincher was I was looking at a sign at a entrance turnstile that said "Princess Story Book Breakfast." That was frustrating. We were seated at 2 tables next to each other. Food was good, pretty good character interaction but we felt rushed. (could be we started rushed) We made a conscience effort to slow down have another cup of coffee and make sure the kids ate. Not everyone in our party was impressed with all the food (they have a cold bar with Norwegian food, but everyone had food they liked and ate well).

Wednesday was AK day so I made ADRs for 7:30 @ 'Ohanas: Everyone was starving and we had to wait til 8:20 to be seated (We checked in @ 7:05) We were seated at a large table in the middle of the dining room and food was imediately brought out and it was good, some of it really good. Everyone liked it eventhough it was exotic to some of our party's typical fare. The late seating was a bummer- some of the kids could barely stay awake and didn't participate in the kiddie games. There were some service issues, we had to remind them to bring some of the dishes to the rest of the party. They forgot to bring dessert and we had to ask. (It was worth the wait) coffee never came. Watching Wishes was fabulous, but I was under the impression they dimmed the lights and it got quiet. That didn't happen even though the servers did move out of the view. The music for wishes was piped in but it was hard to hear because of the noise. I can see why this restuarant gets great reviews, I think we just experienced it on a very busy night during a very busy week. Try the drink in the pineapple :thumbsup2

Overall, Disney did a great job of feeding and entertaining a large diverse group during a very busy time. It gave the adults time to relax and eat well, while the kids ate and were entertained. All the group meals were predetermined menus and food hit the table almost as soon as we were seated.

Thanks for posting this! I am in charge of a group of 15 for September.

We will be 6 adults, 9 kids ages 1-13.

Was group dining through Grand Gatherings?

I didn't even know about that.

Any helpful tips?

Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

The drink in the pineapple is a Lapu Lapu, and I agree with your recommendation! Sounds like you had fun and some good meals.

Can I ask how much Ohana was per adult?

All ears net states $25.99 but someone here reported $29.99.

It is the one "big" meal I'm paying OOP for at the beginning of the trip.

Thanks! :flower3:

I am curious about the price too...i am sure the last time i was there is was around $28 and tax/tip was additional. All ears definitely sounded low to me.

I don't know how much the price was for Ohana's, it was paid for by my MIL and FIL.:) I do know the drinks were extra.

You get to group dining when you call the regular Disney Dining # and they transfer you.

Yep, it was the Lapu lapu:upsidedow ...very tasty!

Disneymom5: I think my best tip I have for planning group meals, was to chose restaurants where people didn't have to choose off a menu and where the food came right out when you are seated. We had some fussy kids and all the places had chicken fingers, mac and cheese, or something the kids would eat. We also had some plain meat and potato adults and they all were happy with the food. I really can't imagine waiting to have everyone order and then wait to be served, the meals were pretty long with such a large group and the entertainment at each place. Entertainment helps keep the kids happy, but they would have been fine with out any entertainment.

We ate at other restaurants without the whole group....Biergarten, 50's Prime Time, and Tony's....All were great. Most everyone else did counter service. We did send my mother in law and her husband to V&A's and they loved it. I definitely have to go.

I have just recently made some ADRs for our group of 16. One thing I was told is that Disney like to seat large groups towards the beginning or end of service. That way they could get us all seated together. We could book dining at anytime during the serving, but they wouldn't guarantee that we could all seat together unless it was at the beginning or end of service.

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

Thanks everyone for the input. And the tip on first/last seating. We're not opposed to eating early, so that should work out well. :thumbsup2
