I realize that Disney is more appropriate for my son's age, however we are meeting part of my wife's family from Florida at Universal for a weekend before moving over to WDW for the rest of the week. My question is what attractions and rides are most suited for my son's age (15 months old). We are staying on location while at Universal so we will have front of the line access so I'm hoping that the waits will not be a problem (Toddlers have little patience.) If I can get feed back on both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure I would appreciate it. We figure to go to one park in the morning and the other in the evening. Thanks for the help.

Although there aren't a lot of rides at Universal/IOA for your son (as compared to Magic Kingdom), there is so much to look at and do otherwise, he (and his parents) will still have a wonderful time. To do:

Universal:
Animal Planet Live show - This is the most entertaining animal show I've ever seen.

A Day in the Park with Barney - A stage show with Barney, Baby Bop, and BJ. You sit close to the stage and it's lots of fun for the little ones.

Woody Woodpecker's Kid Zone and Fievel's Playland - Play areas you'll all enjoy.

He may enjoy seeing some of the Nickelodeon characters such as the Rugrats and Spongebob as well.

IOA:
Suess Landing will be a lot of fun for your son. This section will be the main focus for your son. I think it is great. It is so much fun to do and also to look at!

Also Toon Lagoon has a play area called Me Ship, The Olive that my daughter (she was 13 months at the time) absolutely loved! Beware though, removing child from this area can create a major temper tantrum!

I know all this does not add up to a lot of entertainment for your son, but there will be so much for him to look at as you stroll through the parks, I don't think you'll have any problem with trying to keep him happy. He will LOVE it and you'll love doing it with him! Have fun!

Ditto on the previous post. I had the same concerns with my 3 year old, but he had a blast. My trip report is on the trip reports page if you are interested. My 1 year old nephew also joined us towards the later part of the trip, but he had fun to. He was only afraid of Jaws, but still rode it like a champ!!! At Universal, he will be able to do everything. Jimmy Neutron and Shrek have seats that have no effects so it would be like watching a movie for him. Just be careful with the dragon. My 1 year old nephew did not like that part. At IOA, Seuss landing is a hit with the kiddies and so are the shows, etc.

Go and have fun! With FOTL, you will be spoiled. My son has a short temper too, and he walked through all the lines with no hassles.

We went last summer when DD was 15 months old. We had a great time at Universals with her. She was also able to ride ET(DH and I sat on both sides of her), Terminator 3( which was loud but didn't scare her), King Kong, Jaws and Twister along with all the others mentioned. IOA was more difficult because of all the height requirements. We dragged her on Poseidans Fury(huge mistake) and a couple others that didn't have height limits! All in all, IOA was not toddler friendly(with the exception of Seus Landing!

We have taken my Daughter there from when she was a few months old until now she is 18 months. Her absolute favorite thing is the water play areas. At universal it is called "Curious George" (behind Barney) and at IOA there is a water area in Dr. Seuss. She could stay there all day.

Just remember swimsuits and sunscreen.
