Half way through my countdown to our first DVC/BLT two bedroom trip!!!:yay:

Over a year ago, I lost 20 lbs. Been stuck at this point for a long time. I'd like to lose another 10. I usually put some weight on while vacation. I'm 6'2 and 233 lbs so a few pounds on vacation is like adding a deck chair on the Queen Mary but still thinking about it. Some people say you'll walk it off. It can help but the extra calories on vacation usually win out. We've decided to not do the DDP and go with the TIW discount card. Our plan is to have one big meal at an early dinner. A big early dinner at a buffet will load me up almost past breakfast. Breakfast will be light either in room or a yogurt parfait from the resort. I love the salads, vegetables and fruit at WDW. I will partake heavy on those but the meat is so good too. For lunch, I don't think I'll even do counter service. I don't want to load up heavy at lunch because our big dinner is at 4pm. Maybe just do yummy snacks.

My daughter is vegan so if you have any advice in this area, please let us know.

We asked everyone in our group to pick they're favorite restaurants. I asked if we could do a new one and the Wave is the only new one for us. We made ADR's for the following:

Crystal Palace
Biergarten
Prime Time Cafe
Boma
'Ohana
Coral Reef
The Wave
1900 Park Fare

I'd like to keep my weight gain at around 6 lbs. Wish me luck.

I had my fourth baby in November of 2009. We had a trip planned for May 2010 so that gave me a few months to lose some weight. I lost about 20 by the time the trip rolled around. I did not limit myself or count any calories while in WDW. I just had a great time and had great meals with my family and friends. When we got home I got on the scale and gained 2 pounds. :scared1: I'm sure all the walking kept me from gaining more though!! I got back on my program right away and dropped those 2 WDW pounds in no time! I continued to lose and was down another 10 pounds on our January trip. I didn't gain anything that time!! So have fun and eat up!!!!

can't help with the vegan, but can with the weight loss. Several trips ago I was in the process of loosing weight, and was very conscious of what I was eating. I think that really helped. You already like the fresh things, so just be mindful of the "extras" (breads, heavily gravyed items, desserts). Many meals I would just put half a roll on my plate, for example, and that's really all I needed - a "taste" of that bread, or dessert. It's very easy with a group to continue to put things in our mouths while keeping the conversation going, so be careful of that. SLOW eating is another trick - you really are full before your mind realizes it, so be aware of your body signals. And water, water, water!
It doesn't hurt if you are an early riser (or later in the evening) to squeeze in an extra stroll around the resort. The sights are wonderful, and the peacefulness is refreshing. Drag someone along with you, and a bottle of water in hand. Don't sweat it though, you will be ok. Congratulations!!!:thumbsup2

I see you are staying at BLT - you can walk from there all the way past the gates of the MK and back - it's an easy walk!!:cool1:

Enjoy yourself and all the while keep in check how much you are eating, with all the walking, you should be able to break even or be real close. Etch into your mind you arent going to gain, make the plan, stick to the plan.

I just went through a similar thing. Lost 16 pounds and was afraid of what I would gain on my 10 day trip to WDW on the Deluxe Dining Plan. I gained about 5. Back on the program now. I don't regret the pounds. We had an amazing time and I didn't want to go without.

Just have fun and get back on the wagon when you return home.

I never worry about gaining weight at Disney. In fact, I usually lose up to 5 pounds while we are there. All the walking contributes to that, and the fact that I eat very fresh all the time, so I don't really change my eating habits when I'm on vacation.

Ditto. And portion control is key. :thumbsup2

God bless you if you can lose weight at WDW. I'm not that optimistic and I can she 5-6 lbs fast when I come back.

I really don't want to get bloated by a meal. But, Everything is sooooo good!:yay:
I think the heat and walking will deter big meals too.

I'm planning on some of my favorite snacks and drinks including popcorn, ice cream, chocolate chip ice cream cookie, school bread, margarita, Grey Goose Slushie and and flavor of beer in World Showcase.

I am not a vegan, but for our wedding trip 3 years ago we had a guest who is vegan. At narcoosees the chef came out and talked with her about what she did and didn't eat and made her something custom. She said it was the best vegan meal she had ever eaten. In mk the next day she found lots of options for veggie burgers and things, and even said they had the good vegan ice cream (I think she said it was rice dream?) in the main street ice cream parlor.

Well iam here now....I lost about 15 lbs before we arrived through the dukan diet....got down to only 113 lbs. I have gone totally overboard...le cellier...t Rex....crystal palace...lots of counter service. I can only hope i have only put on 6 lbs...I suspect more...we shall see....:cool1:

Been there and done this. I lost 100 lbs the year before our second trip to WDW. I was so worried about gaining weight while on vacation due to just the reason you are all the great food. But to my surprise I lost more weight while there and I did not skimp on meals. All the walking, swimming and more walking will balance most of the food you eat if you do not go overboard. Have fun and remember we all get more exercise on a Disney vacation than when we try.
