$15 coupon not valid!!

I posted this response to another thread on this board that I came across. I actually saw this code on a coupon site (not this board) that said nothing at all about needing a gift card. It just said to receive $15 off order, use code HOLIDAY. I ordered or pre ordered Lilo and Stitch and the code was accepted and the total was $11.68.

Since this is a pre order item, I just called the Disney Store online to ask if this item was going to be shipped on the release date or if they will mail it earlier to receive it on the release date and the total they had was $27 and something cents. The cm said that the gift card would need to be mailed to them in order to receive the discount and that the total price was going to be charged when the item shipped. I told the CM I obtained the code on a coupon site therefore didn't have a card and didn't know I needed one so I cancelled the order b/c I'm not paying $27 for Lilo and Stitch. The CM was very polite.

Like I said I saw this code on a coupon site and didn't know it was an error. I guess I just thought Disney was trying to hype up their sales going into the holiday season. I'm glad I called to find out the ship date otherwise I would not have known about the issues with this code and the code not being honored. Please make sure you check your orders, otherwise it sounds like they are going to charge full price for your order.

I was just sitting here wondering how Disney could charge you more for you order. There is always the filing a dispute with your credit card company. If you send them a copy of the oder confirmation and the amount approved shown on there it seems they would only pay that amount. Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part but if companies could charge you more afterward seems like the credit card companies would have gone bankrupt a long time back. Anyone here work at a credit card company and know anything about this?

We have stopped buying the videos from Disney(Pre-orders). On several of the preorders, we did not receive our orders until 2-3 days after the release date. We save money waiting and getting these from Walmart. I always thought that buying it from Disney would get it to us sooner, but that only happened once.

It is my understanding that legally they cannot do this. If they ship your items, then they must honor the agreed upon price that you got in your email confirmation. Otherwise, we can report them to the Attorney General of the State of Florida and your own state. Just because Disney is huge, doesn't mean they're always right.

Did you tell the cm that you had a receipt showing a total lower than what you were going to be charged? I assume you copied your confirmation page or have an email receipt. What she told you are the rules that were put in place after a lot of orders were placed, Sunday I believe. Before the rule change, your receipt showed the discounted price, now when you place an order your receipt shows the full price and the terms of the discount say just what she told you. I'm just wondering if she wasn't just giving you the new policy, not realizing your order was placed when you weren't required to mail in the card. If she's not, and they actually intend to attempt to overcharge customers there are people out there who have a much bigger complaint than I do. That is, they had the card in hand from making a valid purchase, placed their online orders before the new rules were in place and either didn't keep the card or are unaware that they need to mail it in. I don't care what Disney says, they can't do that. As for charging more than was authorized to those of us who didn't have the card? They can try it, but they can't get away with it unless we let them. Surely they're not willing to alienate not only those who honestly didn't know they weren't entitled to the discount but also those that were? This just gets stranger by the moment.

It just astounds me that Disney has not even acknowledged this "error". No phone calls, no e-mails, NOTHING!!

Do we not give them all our information when we place an order, in case of any problems.

What kind of customer service are they following???

Update:
I called The Disney Credit Card Services and I accessed my account online. Todays charges do not appear. When I talked to customer service they said today's postings will appear tomorrow.
I did get another email from The Disney Store and they said that the original amount which shows on my original invoice will be charged. Will post tomorrow.

I don't believe Disney was in error on this. If you are going to use the promotion code "Holiday" then you have to abide by the guidelines for that promotion. I had one of the $15 holiday cards and it said on the back that in order to use that code you would have to surrender the card in order to get the discount. It's not Disney's fault that it was touted across the internet as a $15 free for all and these various sites who posted the code didn't check it out completely or give the complete information about the promotion. You have to take what you read anywhere with a grain of salt until you find out what is in the fine print. Did any of you call Disney before you placed your order to find out the specifics of the promotion? Probably not. You simply assumed what you read second hand was correct and you know what the saying says about people who assume...

There was no "assuming" going on here. There was a code posted, as many are, that people ordered items with and it went through. It did not state anything about a card being needed on the site. Disney messed up and they are handling it horribly.

Tay N Evie's Mom.....
I'm beginning to sound like my mother, BUT...:D We've managed to discuss the details of this offer for a couple of days and over 50 posts without getting accusatory and nasty with each other. It would be nice to keep it that way. We all know what happens when people start arguing on this board..the thread gets closed. As I said in an earlier post, I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to argue about this on the debate board.

That was part of my probem as stated above. I did happen to have two of the red cards to be used during a specific time frame.
I can honestly say it did not occur to me the red card was the HOLIDAY code being used on the website. (DUH -- what can I say?)
And had the website stopped me or even stated HEY STUPID, we need your card mailed! I probably never have ordered the items anyway.
What is really dumb is I figured out by placing my order the way I did, as opposed to how I usually do, I saved a whole whopping $14.96. All this brouhaha and hassle for a lousy $15.
That was really worth loosing a good, steady customer over, wasn't it Disney? :p Just one of many reasons why their stock is in the tiolet, IMHO.

I would LOVE if Disney would now overcharge me.

I didn't push the issue with the attorney general when CRO charged my debit card TWICE (unauthorzied at $104.34 a pop). The Nebraska AG asked that I file a complaint so they could investigate.
No, I didn't. I put up with Disney's crappy attitude and went on. (Not even a I'm sorry we screwed up. More like a Who do YOU think YOU are and Tough cookies attitude. And all this because of one CM screw up after another. They just kept compiling.)

Then WDW Merch charged me June 1 on my cc for a shipment not shipped until a month later. (I recieved a How was our service questionnaire weeks before I got my merchandise!)
Again no apology or explanation. And even that order was a hassle from day one. It was so much bother, I got free shipping. That's why I let that one slide.

No more from here on.
Not that I am not going to avoid them now anyway.
Once the DC discount is gone, that will greatly diminish my store purchases. So I guess the bright side is I will have more money to spend elsewhere and I'm sure with less grief. ;)

Has anybody wondered about the 39 cents postage that Disney is going to reimburse for sending in the card? Does Disney not know that postage is currently 37 cents??? Think about all this extra 2 cents now that they will be spending. LOL just makes me laugh.

Also I was wondering if now you can use your Disney Club Discount and the Holiday Magic Card on the same order? Well I emailed and called and both times I got the response that yes you can even though on the back of the $15 card it says can't be combined with any other discount.

Does Disney have any clue as to what they are doing anymore? Sure makes me wonder.

My debit card charges are still pending and the other 2 I charged on credit cards. I called one of credit cards and asked if Disney could charge more than the approved amount and I was told they could not. So like the rest of you I'll just wait it out.
