$15 coupon not valid!!

I KNEW I had seen that stupid card somewhere...I did get one back in the summer at the Disney Store when we pre-ordered Monsters Inc. and spent over $100 bucks in the store.

My only question is how are they going to determine who 'legimately' got the code and who didn't? I got it after paying cash at the Disney store. They don't know who I am by name

Thanks Peachgirl for the link on this. The article stated "Instead, the company used two different codes on all the gift certificates it issued, one for customers who had previously shopped in its brick-and-mortar stores and one for those who had previously shopped online or over the phone. " I thought there was just one code 'holiday'.

The article also states "The company is determining which customers had legitimately received and used the gift certificate and expects to process those orders within the next two days or so, she said. " I wonder how they will determine that?

What does concern me, is the statement "But those customers who placed their orders after Disney posted the notice will be charged full price, she said. Disney will refund the amount of the coupon after it receives the coupon from them, she said. " If I have a written confirmation from them for the discounted price, I wouldn't want them to charge full price.

What a fiasco for them, huh? Bet someone is working overtime on this!

No problem, I live on the computer so I tend to run onto things every once in while..

I wouldn't take this article as the absolute gospel truth. It is after all an interview with a media source and companies have been known to not be completely upfront about things and talk in doublespeak. It does, I think, give us a good look into Disney's attitude towards this. Comes off to me as the "poor little company being overrun by the big bad consumer".

Agree Peachgirl!

I appreciate the link however because at least someone, s-O-M-E-W-H-E-R-E, is acknowledging this! I expected to have seen something from Disney to recind the order. I'm like "alright already".. cancel me if ya will! But it still sits in never never land 'active, sitting in the warehouse or something..'.

It can sit there until the cows come home too! I just don't want to be charged full price, don't need the stuff that badly. We're also just getting in our bills from our Oct. 19 - 23 WDW trip!

I will say this... this has left a poor impression of their site to me. I thought I used a legitimate code, and that lured me to the site. I ordered things from it and I was a first time customer for online (usually head to the mall). After this, I have little confidence in the site as 'secure'. As someone else posted, a discount for the inconvenience would be nice, if they indeed cancel orders. There are consequences to every action... and if this was a goof on their part then that's what it was.

Awaiting tomorrows 'news' on this!!

I haven't heard anything yet either. At this point I don't care if I get the stuff or have anything further to do with disney.com.
I prefer to deal with more legitimate companies.
I've already crossed CRO off my list, due to bad consumer/legal issues; disney.com is off my list now too. Due to past screw ups, I don't use my debit card with Disney on-line/phone.
Now what does that tell me as a consumer of this company?
Simple -- I'm dealing with the wrong company. At least most companies try to make themselves look honorable, if they aren't. Disney has flat out proved to me one too many times when I buy over the net/phone They Don't Care.

I think they're handling it well, if they really do honor discounted orders placed before they posted the notice about mailing in the cards.

BTW, does anyone know what time they put that up? My printout just says 11/2. I did not get any messages about the card.

I ordered on 11/2 an no notice popped up I needed a coupon or anything else. The only thing it said about the discount was I could only use 1 discount and it gave me the option of using dc or blast for 10% or the $15 off. My debit card doesnt have the 2 charges pending like it did, they have been dropped off. All my orders still show active. And yet still no e-mail or anything they cx my order. Sad, sad customer service:(

If you don't have the discount card to mail in, there is no indication that Disney is going to give you the discount, no matter when you placed the order. The closest thing we have to an official word from them is what they stated in the article:

"The company is determining which customers had legitimately received and used the gift certificate and expects to process those orders within the next two days"

Sounds to me like if you didn't have the card, you won't get the discount. Now how they expect to actually be able to do this is another story, but then again, I don't believe much of what disney said in that article. I think 90% was pr garbage. I can't tell you exactly when they posted the new requirements, but it was in the late afternoon on 11/2. Your best indicator of whether or not your order was placed before or after the notice was posted is if it shows the discounted price on your receipt. If it does, you placed your order before, if it doesn't, you didn't.

So I guess this means that if they determine that you had the card, but placed an order before the notice was posted then you don't need to send it.

Customers who placed their orders before Disney posted the notice do not need to send in their cards, Gladowski said. The company is determining which customers had legitimately received and used the gift certificate and expects to process those orders within the next two days or so, she said.

BUT, if they determine that you didn't get the card they will not honor the order?

That's the way I read it. Keep in mind, there have been posts by individuals who have said they called Disneystore.com and got a different story. They were told that for orders placed before the notice was posted, Disney was going to honor one order per customer. On multiple orders they were going to honor the highest $$ order and cancel the others. It's not a done deal by any means.

I just got 2 shipment confirmation emails this morning from Disney saying that 2 of the orders I placed on 11/1 were being shipped and they were charging me the higher price without the $15 discount even though I used the Holiday code and I do have 6 of these $15 cards in my possession. Has anybody else got the shipment confirmation emails?

Check your credit card to see what was charged on it. I rec'd confirmation that listed the price as $75.01 which did not reflect the $15.00 coupon, but when I checked the amount charged to my card it was only $60.01. Maybe they think (hope) people will call and want to cancel the order? I have not received shipping confirmation on all of my orders though. If they are not planning on sending the merchandise for the price agreed upon in the original transaction, I think they should notify us. I really don't need everything I ordered, but the Lilo DVD is a Christmas gift, so I'd like to know if I need to go and pre-order it in order to receive the lithos. If they do not communicate with me, I think that it is fair for me to expect them to honor my order since it tells me that shipment will occur on Dec. 3rd.

I don't know what they're planning but goodness, they were flooded with orders and it will take them sometime to fill and ship them, even if they do honor all of them.

I guess I'm gonna take my widdle gift card and buy the ornament set that I MUST have just in case they don't ship it.

Update:
I ordered on line on Saturday 11/2/02 5:53PM
on 11/6/02 at 9:07AM received a shipping confirmation that my goods were shipped and the charge was $120.73.
I made several calls and sent emails, the CM at the Disney store phone line gave me a hard time, but an email confirmed that my cc was charged only $106.01.
I checked www.disneycreditcard.com and my account was charged $106.01 today.

I just thought I would let everyone know, I got home today and received 1 of the items I ordered on 11/2 using the Holiday code (and no I do not have the card, I am one of the people that did not realize this was a code that required a card). This item was the highest priced of the 4 items I ordered, I did receive the $15.00 off and the correct amount was charged to my credit card. My other items are still listed as active and at the distribution center, when I bring up my account on the Disneystore.com web site. It will be interesting to see if I get the other items. What is ironic is the other items I ordered are Christmas gifts for other people and the one item I got was a pin set for myself! LOL

I received two shipment e-mail confirmations today -- for the full amounts, without deducting the $15 on each. And it shows they were shipped yesterday! Although earlier today it wasn't showing this.
I won't know until tomorrow morning (or maybe even later) what amounts actually hit my card. (Not showing yet.)
If it doesn't show tomorrow, I am going to verify the charged amounts with VISA.
My account information on the Disney web page shows the totals, including the $15 discounts.
We will see...
I hate to start in on another fight! For full price I would either refuse the shipments, or send the order confirmations to VISA and debate the remaining expense. But I just want to forget this episode and move on. :p

I still havent rec'd any e-mail about shipping. But my cc company told me they cant charge you more than the approved amount. So it seems even if they try to charge you more, you just write a dispute about the charge to the cc company and attach the order confirmation. I dont think anyone's cc is going to let Disney charge more.

Boy... if I'm charged more than what my order confirmation states (i.e. no $15.00 credit), I'll be mad! I didn't think a company was allowed to do that?

I prefer admission of terms of code (officially from them), along with option to cancel order or re-bill me for full price if I don't have the card.

Question for those folks who rec'd order confirmations... when you go online does the order status change from 'ACTIVE', and what does it change to where it said 'in distribution center'?

This was my first online order for Disney (and maybe my last LOL)!

There are two threads going on the debate boards concerning the use of the code. Please join in the fun over there.

I used this code and there were no rules I saw. I knew nothing about a card. I did not know it was 'wrong'. The site accepted the code, they even made me register first. You would think that an online store would have some way of confirming restricted coupons, if the coupon WAS restricted. "Realistic"? I have seen MUCH better offers than this one that were "realistic".

You say you learned of the same code, tried to use it, then received instructions telling you you couldn't. What would you have done if you were presented with no instructions? You would have done just like I did and continued the purchase.

Another question....If this code is not "Realistic", then why did YOU try to use it?
