$15 coupon not valid!!

Guess I will give them a call today. My credit card wasnt charged but 2 of the ordered have been pending on my debit card. If they dont want to honor every order thats fine but I think they should offer some type of discount--maybe $15 off if you combine oders to be $65 or more. I too spend lots of money at TDS and WDW-I just wasnt lucky enough to get one of the holiday code cards but I def have spent over $65--more than one time in the store recently. 3 of the items I ordered I was still paying $$, just got $15 off--with the high price of some of their mechandise they are still making $$ of many orders.

It's just one more time of Disney inconsistency, lack of good customer judgment and following their own rules (right or wrong).

I absolutely agree. It isn't the merchandise, there's nothing I want that bad that I'm going to get upset over it. I did a quick check on what I ordered and what my "savings" was. For me, the total before shipping if I had not used the code was $95, and that's not including my DC discount. Also, I would have ordered everything on one order reducing the shipping by a significant amount. Using the code it ended up being about 50% off. This all includes a Lilo & Stitich preorder that I would have never purchased online without a huge discount because I'd rather buy it instore and get the lithos on the spot. Without the movie, the savings is significantly less. Not exactly highway robbery. What's upsetting is their decision to sit back and do nothing and let the customer figure out on their own what's going on. I think that's what caused this in the first place. Complain about what the customer did if you will, but Disney isn't following the rules either, and they're the only ones who know what they are.

I too just spoke with Disney Store and was told the same as Lizzie. I canceled my orders as well. I was told I was sent an email about the corporate decision. Didn't receive it? Oh well I will just go to the local Disney Store, but I will not spend one lousy penny over each of the gift cards...and I will never shop the store again. If my kids need anything Disney it will not be from the Disney Store!

I am sure there are quite a few people that are doing the HAPPY DANCE that this worked out like it did!!

My stuff can sit there, too. Did y'all ever stop to think that for everyone who calls and cancels their orders, they will have that many fewer to fulfill? Maybe it's a ploy to recover some of the damage.

Momtomootoo,

I totally agree, and can hear the "I told you so's" as we speak. I placed my order using the code once. So be it. What kills me is their decision to cancel all the orders. This past week alone I spent over $200 at the Freehold Disney store. I bought all new merchandise that was not on sale.

We will be spending thousands of dollars on our next trip in May. I don't see how disney can justify cancelling my order over a lousy $15 code that caused me to purchase another $100 online. It's their loss because I won't reorder that merchandise.

Everyone should do what they think is best and I'm not being critical of what anyone else chooses to do. As for me, I'm not going to spend one second of my time "helping" them straighten this mess out. If they want the orders cancelled, THEY can call ME. Of course, my orders were on a charge card and so I don't have the debit card problem. I've read that it puts a hold of some kind on the card for the amount of the charge, but it isn't going to actually be charged so I couldn't care less. It can mold in the warehouse before I call them. As for some being happy about the results of all this? Well I care about their opinions now just about as much as I cared then.

You can check the instructions for redemption on my post (next to last post on page 2). In addition, the following was part of my post:
Wew! That took a lot of typing. Anyway, I called the 1-800 number and was told that if you order over the phone, you would not have to mail in the card. That was a control messure to keep people from using it more than once. When you order over the phone, they make a record of its use and you can't use it again.

Don't know if this helps, but it seems to me, you should have printed your receipt. If you didn't, you should have some record of the transaction on your computer that you could mail in. Just go ahead and mail it in now and your order will be processed in a few days.

I don't think Disney is recending the promotion, just provinding directions on how you can use it. That doesn't seem so unfair to me.

I used the HOLIDAY code on 11/2 and spent $115.00, after the code and taxes, the receipt came to $106.01.
This morning at 9:07AM I received a shipping confirmation email that my order had been shipped. Amount Charged: $120.73
I immediately sent an email and cancelled my order. The return email said my order was already shipped and cannot be cancelled.
I called the 800 and fought with the CM, she then said my cc was charged $106.01....I told her that I would have used the 10% DisneyClub discount on my order if they weren't going to honor the $15. She seemed confused and said I had to send in the coupon. I will call credit card services now to see how much was really charged to my Disney Credit Card.

I just sent an e-mail to guest relations having them cancel my order and letting them know how disappointed I am with this whole situation. First THEY aren't clear with their offers and now they don't even have the common courtesy to contact me and let me know what is happening with the situation. That to me just takes the cake! I am sitting here in tears because I am so angry! If these charges had been on a credit card instead of a debit card, I would do just what Peachgirl plans to do and let the stuff sit there until they were FORCED to contact me and straighten out their own mess but I can't let this whole thing screw up my checking account. It really is a shame because I do enjoy buying from the Disney store and planned to buy quite a few more Christmas presents there. From now on, I will be spending my money in a store that appreciates my business. I think I will be checking out the WB online store too.

No matter what takes place, Disney will be unable to satisfy everyone. There were people who didn't know about the required cards and learned about the code from websites. Is it unfair to not honor all of the orders? It appears that Disney has chosen to wait for "guests " to contact them and allow for the guests to provide the cards associated with the code. If people feel strongly that Disney is wrong, then stop spending money with them. Stores make mistakes everyday, just like every other business.

If we turn this into a debate, the thread is going to be shut down because this isn't the debate board. I for one would like to see the thread stay so that those that are afffected by this can stay updated on what's going on and find out what others who are affected are doing. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would enjoy debating the issue, but I hope we don't start doing it here.

Well, if they debit your account, then they have shipped the items. They do not debit any cards before processing the order other than the $1 charge to make sure the card is valid. I used my debit card also and have
already deducted the order amounts. If they never send them, then I will just add the money back in. Either way, I'm cool.

I do think it's a particularly crummy tactic to just let the problem sit there without resolution....of course, in the last few years Disney has totally lost the definition of customer service.

This is an excerpt from another post I read:

"I purchased an item using my PayPal. The money the Disney store took out is pending charges. According to PayPal, those pending charges will automatically be taken off after 10 days."

So even if you used Paypal, unless they ship the item, it appears you won't actually have paid any money out. I use Paypal a lot, but only for receiving payments and paying by cc, so I'm not familiar with using it for something like this.

Shoes99- Please post what you find out about the charges. I just can't believe they will attempt to charge any amount other that what was authorized in the original transaction. I know they changed the terms on using the card after this all started, but in those cases, the discounted total won't show on the receipt as it does now.

Remember everyone, if you get the order and they don't deduct the $15, you can always take all the merchandise, the box, your receipts - everything - back to your nearest Disney Store and demand a full refund including the shipping charges because they messed up your order and didn't credit you the $15.

The "pending debit" charge for this order has been taken off my debit card account. Not sure when this happened because I didn't check it this morning before e-mailing Disney store. To clarify my earlier post, I didn't mean that they had taken the money out yet just that it was pending. To Shoes99, I hope you are able to straighten out your credit card charge. Please let us know what happens.

I find it ridiculous that Disney would handle orders that were placed within the paramaters stated at the time this way. The orders went through with no stipulation stated anywhere about mailing in a card.

I believe any orders that were placed after the "correction' was made should require the card be sent in but orders that were placed when it didnt say anything about that should be honored.

Disney if you are reading this I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU AND YOUR SO CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I will let my order sit as well.

I have to say in all my years of ordering over the phone, through the mail, on-line, I have NEVER run across this before.
I can't imagine any company first screwing up they way they did, if they did not want the coupons used as they were. (Like most here, I have yet to hear/read anything "official".)
But then to mis-handle it again in this manner.
Of course I have never had another company use my debit card without my authorization, or charge me when items haven't been sent. But they did this to me in recent months too.

I emailed them around 10am cancelling my orders. (I haven't gotten a reply yet) I don't have the time or patience to deal with this. I have only ordered from the disneystore.com once this year, but used to buy a lot from disney auction and the physical disney stores. Slowly everything is just adding up and I have had enough. First they close my disney store, then they cancel the disney club, and now this. Shipping and Handling from the disneystore.com is too much for me to ever buy from them again. I am realizing that I don't need disney things for my house. I don't need to wear disney clothing, and I don't need to give disney gift. In the long run this all has saved me a LOT of money but has cost disney a lot of sales on my behalf. (I recently swore off the pins: 2 months clean!) I will continue to visit the parks and maybe check out what is in the stores, but the whole Disney fantatic that I was has died. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR ORDERS!

Melissa

I agree with aero99, I think Disney is shooting itself in the foot. It's not that they should give us something for nothing, but they are smart enough (after all these years) to release a code that can't be used by others. They change the rules at their own whim. It's a little discouraging, and will definately affect my shopping with them in the future.

Hope someone from Disney monitors this board, maybe they will realize all the ill-will this incident has generated! With Christmas coming up too!

Someone on another board mentioned this and I thought they made an interesting point. From the nice "thank you for your order" email:

"Return to DisneyStore.com to fulfill your winter wishes, or send your coupon to a friend and share the Magic of Disney!"

I never really paid attention to the email I received after placing the order. Yes, I know this was for the 10% off "snowflake" discount. The point is that Disney apparently is encouraging guests to share their discount codes, which might just lead to a little confusion when one gets a discount code from them. Also, in that same email it says "Good for next purchase only." Does that mean that if I use it ( which of course I'm not going to), I can't pass it along? And what's to stop someone from using it over and over again, especially since this offer came with each purchase? Talk about confusing policy.
