145 Middle Schoolers: Wicked Awesome or Epic Fail???DeParting-Such Sweet Sorrow p. 76

Thank you so much! I was really really happy with pictures from the safari.

So yes, the new camera is working out, but now every time I go to Sam's Club I start drooling over a big girl camera package they have there. But I'm not sure I am ready to move away from my point & shoot and I definitely am not ready to give up my camera's waterproof feature.

Franklin just added a waterproof point and shoot to his massive collection of camera equipment. We're going to have a few pool days on the October trip, so we wanted a camera we could have at the pool.

Good question about whether the boys liked the safari. I DON'T KNOW!!! I'm guessing yes, because we really got some spectacular views of the animals, but I really wasn't supposed to be TALKING to any of the kids and I definitely was verbotten from communicating with Nate.
Ah yes, I forgot the cardinal rule...there is no talking to teenage boys unless you are another teenage boy yourself! :rotfl2:

What, you haven't seen Lion King OR walked the trails? Have you been on the secret trail that takes you close to the tree of life?

We did the Pangani trail on this trip but not the Maharajah trail in Asia. I like that one a lot more- Komodo Dragons and Tiger and Fruit Bats, Oh My!

AK isn't our favorite park, though we are learning to like it more. So most of days at AK have been relatively short. But our plan for AK day in October is to definitely see Lion King and do the Maharajah Trek.

Ooh-Ooh- which one???

I have had 3 Olympus UP&S, 1 Canon Powershot D10 and this Lumix. They also have some neat Nikon underwaters. To paraphrase Dr. Malcom in Jurassic Park (I'm always on the lookout for the next ex-Mrs. Malcom).

Never know when I am going to need to replace or upgrade the camera...

Or a really cute teenage girl!

Being neither, most of my conversations were limited to my fellow chaperones.

Can not WAIT to see Franklins pics from the show and from the trails!

We were there right after it rained 2 years ago, we saw a lot of animals- our best safari yet, but never 3 lions!!!

I have good news to share- I got a job today!!!!!! I am soooooo EXCITED!!!!! I start Friday.

It's the Olympus TG-1, oh and Franklin says hi! :wave2:

party: THAT IS AWESOME!!! party:

Thanks for sharing your good news. Been thinking about you and wondering if you had heard anything.

Awesome photos of the safari!!! I especially loved the elephants! The lions are pretty cool too! Oh, and the alligators. Ok.. maybe I like all the wild things! ::yes::

As many times as we've been to AK, we have never made it to the safari. Gotta fix that one of these days! :)

Fantastic start to your morning at the Animal Kingdom! I agree with the others...you hit safari paydirt that morning. It looks like all of the animals were out and about and sitting pretty for your pictures.

Really? Never been on the safari? You really do need to do that! From my experience and what I have read, early in the morning, or last safaris of the day are best. I'm also guessing that after a rain storm, like on this trip, the animals are very active if it is cool.

I love all of the wild things, too!

I was so happy that we were able to spot all of those critters! I know that the cheetahs and lions are particularly elusive, so getting great views of them was really special!

:wave2: Not even gonna try to read until I can see the pictures. I love the Pangani trail!

I  the Pagani trail. It may be the one thing we didn't so on our AK day...simply b/c we've done it so much but oh I do love it. Fun pics.

Love your gorilla pics. We saw a baby when we were there in April.

Went into my new classroom today!! I'm teaching second grade. I officially start Monday. Woo hoo!!!!

Gorillas are really amazing creatures, they also seem to behave like us in some ways at times. I love watching them at the Toronto Zoo when I go there.

Great pics - Love the meerkats and gorillas (more so than that frog.)

"The End" made me smile.

:)

Just got done editing some of my own pictures!

Love your Pangani trail shots. Did you get to see Lily? She is so cute. Love the gorilla shots. Does that one gorilla have its legs up in the air or am I seeing things? :rotfl:

Glad everyone enjoyed the pictures. I wish I could have spent a little more time with the gorillas, but as it was, I had to run to catch up with the rest of my group who had moved on. Of course, once we got out of the trail, several people needed a bio break, so I guess I could have stayed!

Good call since the update is all pictures!

Can't wait to read about your AK day, although I know it will take awhile to get there!!!

Always something interesting to see there.

Didn't see the baby this time!

Congrats again on the teaching job! Good luck on Monday.

Gorillas are amazingly cool! Love watching the social interaction where there is some. When we were at the Franklin Park Zoo (Boston), there was a silverback who apparently disliked to one of the guys watching him and he kept banging up against the window.

Sorry about the frog!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures and my little "cheeky" comment.

I didn't see Lily. :( I think I have on a previous trip, though.

I'm going to pull my Glenn impression and say "Which picture?" I don't think I see what you mean.
