145 Middle Schoolers: Wicked Awesome or Epic Fail???DeParting-Such Sweet Sorrow p. 76

Expedition Everest is our favorite Disney rollercoaster. We always have to ride it multiple times. I have never thought to take photos on the ride though. I must this trip! Loved the "end of the track" pictures.

I e-mailed you about Flat Ben. He will be well accompanied in his love for Butterbeer at IOA. How do you think he'd feel about a princess dress for CRT?!? Eh, maybe that's going too far. :)

Big Thunder is my favorite coaster, but EE is a close second. Ben is not a fan, he went on it once in 2008, I think and hasn't tried it again. :( But FB is up for the challenge!

I got your info. I don't think a princess dress will fly... I already have one son who doesn't talk to me :) But I could possibly do Flynn Ryder, or Sebastian the Crab or the Beast. Let me see what I can come up with.

Love the EE pictures! I've never ridden it because I'm scared of backwards coasters (and feeling pukey). Riding it vicariously through you is great. :)

Great pictures!!!! I'd never attempted to do it until this last trip and have a new respect for it ! Fun fun fun

Thank you!

Sorry to hear that you aren't comfortable riding EE. I can understand- there's nothing worse than having a good part of your vacation day ruined because you feel nauseous.

Glad I could show you a little bit of the ride. Never been able to capture the animatronic Betty the Yeti in a photo, though. Heck, I can barely see her as we pass by.

Brave girl with all those EE pics! Love 'em!

Thanks. I don't have any fears taking pictures on EE, but I haven't tried on Space Mountain or RNR yet. Since those rides are so dark, the risk is not worth it to me.

Oh good! More pictures I'm very excited to see! Although I know I am going to have to be VERY patient while I wait for you to get to that part of your trip!

Flynn Ryder would go right along with our Rapunzel and Mother Gothel costumes for MNSSHP. I'm sure Flat Ben Flynn would like a look at the ladies at CRT as well. He can practice his smolder. That is if he survives his trek on Expedition Everest...

Great EE shots. I am amazed how people gt such great ones. I am holding on for life and when I lift my camera it's bumping around all over.

So I got a little behind but I'm caught up now. I enjoyed all your AK photos. We didn't spend much time at AK this last trip. I like AK but the rest of my family....not so much. However I did manage to get them there and had a awesome Safari ride. There were lots of animals out too, though no lions, just the tip of one's tail. Then a massive thunderstorm came through and chased us away.

I see Flame Tree coming up in your TR...YUM!!! :)

Getting Flat Ben prepared for his trip with you is one of my priorities this week! I'll be in touch soon.

Thanks! Having a small handheld camera really helps.

Thanks for your comments about the photos. Glad you liked them.

AK is not my family's favorite, either. We find that about a half-day is good for us, although I would love to spend more time on the gorgeous trails!

Heading over to read your update! :goodvibes

I'm always amazed at the great pictures that other disers get while on Expedition Everest. I try to take pictures they turn out horrible because I am too busy trying to hang on. :lmao:

OK slightly off topic but I know you will be excited for me as you've listened to my whining and wishing:rotfl: I got a new camera from my kids for my birthday:cheer2:
I'm so excited. It's a fujifilm finepix L55 point and shoot and it's purple:cool1:
After all the exploding ovens, broken washing machines, cracked windscreens and leaky roof I have finally got a new point and shoot:woohoo:

Sorry for the hijack but I just had to share:)
As always I love the photos Dee. Still having computer issues but hopefully getting sorted soon:)

We seriously need to go to WDW together to see who can take the most ride photos. :rotfl2:

You got some great pics on EE! Just love the ride!

Late night for me! Just back from a theatre company meeting- setting the show schedule for the upcoming year. I think we are doing Disney's Aristocats, Romeo and Winifred and a Greek Myth Adventure.

I was really happy with how the pictures turn out. I sometimes get dirty looks from DH when I am taking so many pictures, so this was a very good opportunity to snap away without getting snapped AT!

Thanks for sharing the news about the beautiful new addition to your family! I AM excited for you!!! :goodvibes

It has been a rough, expensive year for you!

Sorry to hear about your computer access issues. Glad to see you checking in when you can.

Thanks for the kind words about the photos. You definitely need to keep us posted about how much you like your camera.

How fun would THAT be?!?

I enjoyed the ride, and the pictures. And we got to go again later that day, too.

When everyone had finished with EE, we talked about what to do next. I suggested getting FP for Kali, but one of the chaperones said we should just ride Kali stand-by and get FPs for another ride on Everest later in the day. That was actually a better call.

But we still had 3 unused FP for this round on Everest. We decided to not let these go to waste. I thought Nate, his friend (X) and his friend’s dad should ride, and the rest of us would head over to Kali, ride and meet up with them. Well, the friend’s dad said he thought another of the teens could go on the ride and he would wait at the exit for the boys. OK, that would work.

One of the other dads said he wasn’t going to go on Kali, so he would wait for his son (Y) who was going on the bonus EE ride.

I said “Great, you can actually come with us to Kali and watch all of the backpacks and bags, and any of the boys who don’t want to ride”.

Y’s dad said “I’ll wait here for my son”

I said “X’s dad is waiting for the boys. You can come with us”

Y’s dad said “No, I’m going to wait for Y”

Great, so we have two chaperones waiting at EE for 3 teens. The rest of us proceeded to EE. One boy, Q (remember him) decides he wants to sit out the ride. Feeling some residual guilt for hanging up on him when he was sick, I said I would stay with him. So I waited with all the stuff and Q while the rest of our group went on Kali.

Now, you know if you have followed my previous trip reports that I always bring a Ziploc big bag when I go to AK. Before we ride Kali, we take off our sneakers and socks, change into flip flops, and put our backpack and any other things we need to keep dry (regular cameras, phones) into the bag. I did have a bag with me on this trip, and we used it to cover up the cast on the arm of one of the boys in our group so he could ride.

Q said he was hungry and needed a snack. We had all of our stuff on a bench, and the only place to get food was around the corner, out of view. I got up and walked over with him to the food stand, keeping the bench with our stuff in view. I sent him in line with my Disney Rewards card, which had a few dollars left on it. He got some type of desserty thing, I can’t remember what. Back to the bench.

The group that had been at EE came into view and headed into the queue for Kali. I was still waiting for the original group to return from riding Kali. When that group returned, they said I should try to catch up with the group ahead, but I didn’t know how long it had been since they entered the line and I didn’t want to try to cut through. I went over to take some pictures from the bridge at the end of the ride, but by the time I got there, our second group (which included Nate) had already finished.

Here’s a couple of pictures of random guests on Kali.

Nobody looked extremely wet from the ride.

I was disappointed that I didn’t ride. Since I have a waterproof camera, I love taking pictures on Kali, so I was sad that I didn’t get a chance to do that.

Once we were all reunited again, it was time for lunch. I thought everyone would be happy at the Flame Tree BBQ, and it was close by, and miraculously, that is where we ended up.

Next Up: Will there be a flare-up at the Flame Tree?

.

How frustrating! I would be pretty annoyed about the situation, too. :furious:

Amanda

You know that it didn't occur to me until I was back home writing this report that I sat out one ride each day.

at EPCOT- Mission Space
at Hollywood Studios- a second ride on RNR
at Animal Kingdom- Kali

M:S I didn't mind, since I don't love that ride. I like RNR, but I had been on it earlier in the day so I was ok, except that it was pouring, so I was stuck inside a crowded giftshop with one kid and all our stuff while waiting.

Kali was the one that bothered me. Especially since there was someone who was going to sit out the ride anyway!

I have to say this would have really annoyed me! What was the point in2 adults waiting for 3 kids:confused3 He could have at least offered to try and send the other chaperone back and then you might have got to ride:worried:

It was very kind of you to use your disney rewards to buy a snack for Q

Uh Oh - a flare up at Flame tree? That does NOT sound good. :rotfl2:

Bummer for not getting to ride Kali with your water proof camera. I would be a little upset about that because its such a great opportunity to get some different pictures.

Still, I love the pics you did take.
