1400 Loop questions

I've been keeping an eye on the sticky thread for photos of campsites from the 1400 loop and have not seen many (any that I can recall, actually). We have reservations for August and listed the 1400 loop as our preference way back in May 07. I'm wondering what it looks like now that all the clearing has been done and whether I'll wish we were in a different loop? Anyone down there who can get a few shots of the 1400 loop? I saw some of Larry's shots from the 1600 loop and it looks like you could throw a frisbee through several loops at one shot now. Must be more noise carrying through now.

Our reasons for choosing the 1400 loop were mainly to be close to the campfire program and Meadows area, but also get a preferred site. We're towing a 29 foot TT which is fairly easy to tow and back-up.

This is the best I have from our recent trip. We were in 500 and I was taking pics of all the clearing. I took this shot from 533 across the canal towards 1400. From what I recall, there was still a fair amount of growth but with a small loop inside a larger one, there isn't a whole of lot of growth to begin with.

This is site 1415 Thanksgiving Weekend 2007. 500 loop is in background. The only big deal about 1400 loop is it's close to the campfire and Meadows Trading Post. I wasn't overly impressed with it. They allow dogs in this loop as well which I don't know if you care or not. We had the most barking dog on the planet during our stay.

Thanks! Just got back from working on the new home for my parents, slush up to the ankles, cold biting wind and snow squalls all day and I am in a huge need for Disney right now. Man, those shots of campsites in a nice warm place ---- if the trailer wasn't snowbound in the back yard I would probably hook up and get the heck out of Dodge tonight.

For some reason I thought the 1400 loop was not a pet loop. I could be mistaken, frequently am, so that's not new. I love dogs, but the DW is not a dog person, so that may not be too cool. I find most people who camp take really good care of their dogs and they are usually quiet at night. But I could see a dog being left in the camp while the others are at the park might lead to some obnoxious barking. However, the odds are pretty good that the AC will be on in the trailer and we won't hear much noise outside.

1400 is not a designated pet loop. Some people do not claim they have a dog at check-in and get the 1400 loop and other times FW will send a guest to a non pet loop because a site might not be available in a pet loop.

we got moved to the little bear loop in june for preferred campsite and I hsated it ... we were in the dead back of the inner cirlcel so we were pretty far to CS and campfire and pool unless you cut thru other campsites ... i think little bear loop sucks ... lol
and big bear isn't much better in my opinion and there were dogs there then too. This is the loop just over the bridge when coming from the office area. Our first week we were in i think 1600 if not then it was 1700. it was awesome !!! and we were directly across from the CS .. the walk to bus stop wasn't any further than from that other site we were stuck at (oh yea there was NO SHADE in that site either -- in JUNE). The pool wasn't much further than the bus stop. I requested 1600 /1700 loop for march i hope it is available when we arrive !!

So far it sounds like a few posts with people not that impressed with this loop? The proximity to the Meadows area and the campfire program were the big selling points for us; along with the full hook-ups.

I guess we'll see how it goes, but still looking for opinions on what other people think about this loop. The view from the on-line search engines seems to show nice access to the movie area (paved road near the CS at the south end of the big loop). The distances don't look too bad either, will probably seem like nothing compared to that nice stroll from the bus stops to the Epcot entrance

Add me to the list of not impressed. We were in little bear (inner loop) in 05 so I can't speak to the brush clearing. It was pretty overgrown when we were there in June 05.
It is close to the Meadows but if your on the inner loop you have to cut through a campsite or walk all the way around to get there. We also had a very short site. We were right at the back of the loop. My 5er is 31 ft long and I had the wheels of the trailer at least 4 ft off the back of the concrete pad on boards in the sand to get my truck to barely fit infront of the trailer.

We like the 1400 loop. That is where we have been on both stays to the Fort and where I requested for our next trip. We have always been on the outside loop (Big Bear). It is not suppose to be a pet loop. I think I did see one little dog last time but the first trip none.

Where else would be good for a preferred loop?

We also like 1400 loop, but we always ask for the outer loop near the CS, sites in the 1430's.

We stayed in the 1400 loop in August of 05 and loved it. We too were in the outer loop. Maybe that is better than the inner loop. I think we were on site 1424. It was very convienent and we are requesting this loop for our August 08 trip as well. I will have to remember to make sure I ask for the outer loop.

As for the site size, ours was very long. I had plenty of room for a Dodge quadcab short bed truck with a 30 foot trailer. I did not back up into the shells and still had about 10 extra feet of length from the front bumper of the truck to the road.

We almost always stay in the 1400 loop (Big Bear, the outer loop), and I request it. I like the proximity to the pool, campfire and Meadows Trading Post. I'm not a huge fan of trees when I'm camping, so the absence of them wouldn't bother me and it's not something I've paid attention to, but FW has a lot of understory and I've never felt like we didn't have enough privacy in that loop. It is not a pet loop, and I've never seen a pet in the loop when we've stayed there (maybe half a dozen times for a week at a time). When we were at FW over Thanksgiving we didn't get the 1400 loop and stayed in the 200 loop. That was nice also.

Is it a preferred loop or a pet loop? I have nothing against dogs, and in fact we had one until she died a few years ago, but i really dont want to listen to them bark all day. Our last trip we were in the 1500 loop and someone in the next loop had a dog tied up all day and it barked and barked and yes we complained and no one did anything about it until they returned to their trailer late at night. I also live next door to a barker and i really hate being woken up on saturday mornings by it.

The following is what I got from Deb Wills site (Allearsnet)

There are two categories of campsites at FW, preferred and non-preferred. To Disney, Preferred sites means those that are located near the Settlement Trading Post, Pioneer Hall, Meadows and marina areas (meaning the preferred/in demand areas). Loops 100 through 800 and 1400 contain the preferred campsites. Non-preferred sites are located farther from the Pioneer Hall/marina area. A Full Hookup site in a Preferred area will include cable, but you can have a non-cable (Partial Hookup) site in a Preferred loop.

Someone else posted earlier that the 1400 loop is not normally a pet loop, but they may allow pets in this loop if they don't have any pet loop sites available when someone shows up. Hope this helps.

1400 is a Preferred loop. My understanding of the "Preferred Loop" was a loop with full hookup (water, sewer and electric) and cable and that is what it is. Our first trip we reserved preferred and that is where we ended up and that is where we stayed on our last trip and where we will be this years trip. It is not a designated pet loop either. Sounds like to me the CM you talked to didn't have completly correct information.

That is not my understanding of a preferred loop. Disney's website shows a difference of cable and internet, nothing about locations. Also there are three different categories not two.

Maybe someone on here has more insight they can share.

There are 3 types of camping loops at FW, partial (water and electric), full hook-up (water, electric and sewer) and preferred (water, electric, sewer and cable). There are only 2 loops for partial, 1500 and 2000, you will not find any partial hook-up sites in full hook-up or preferred loops, tenters and pop-ups can use the full hook-up or preferred loops and just not use the sewer or cable, so they would be using it as a partial but it would still remain a full hook-up or preferred site.

1400 loop is a preferred non-pet loop, but as others have stated, guests either do not tell FW that they are bringing a pet and get assigned to 1400 or FW may use it as a pet overflow loop when necessary.

Unfortunately not all Disney CM's know what they are talking about and that can lead to lots of guest confusion, I believe that most CRO CM's have never been to FW and pass along false info.

Is it a preferred loop or a pet loop?

When I was there in 05, it was definitely a preferred loop (had all the Disney channels on cable) and it was not a pet loop. From what I've read since, that has not changed.
