What five orders per car?


Forgetting self-imposed time limits - what about the company time limits several posters have provided?

So, we are supposed to know time limits for the COMPANY (not the customer) for every restaurant with a drive up? You can't be serious.

I worked for several fast food places when I was young. It always ticked off the workers when someone would go through the drive thru with a big order.

I'll just say that right or wrong, it's not good to piss off anyone making your food. Don't ask me why it matters to the cooks or drive thru guys whether you order inside or outside, but it always did. It's just not worth the risk. If I have a big order, I always go inside...both out of respect to the cars behind me and out of fear of the cooks, lol.

Once again those employees should be ashamed of themselves, their job is dependent on selling food to a customer, big order or small order. If that company doesnt sell enough burgers, tacos, chicken, coffee etc, it will close it doors and they will be out of job. Maybe they need to remember that!

When I worked as a pharmacy tech, there were countless times that someone came with a bunch of Rxs that needed to be filled, many times right at closing. Was it annoying to have to stay past closing, or fill those complicated or larger orders, yes....but it was MY job, and if those customers did not come to our small pharmacy, but instead chose the Rite Aid down the street, then I would soon be out of a job!

It IS disturbing and I totally agree with ya'll. It does happen though, I've seen it. Blech. (Dropping the food then serving it, licking the buns, etc) If I were to go back in time I would turn them in. I was a kid and maybe times are different now, but I doubt it. It really just depends on the morals of who the worker is. A lot of them are questionable! Based on my own experiences, I'd say it doesn't happen a lot. But it happens enough for me to not risk ticking off anyone touching my food, lol.

No, I wasn't joking. But I give up. You all have beaten me down to the point where there just is no point. You win. Continue on with your "it's all about me and the heck with everybody else" attitudes and conversation.

I just find it amusing that when one goes through the drive-thru they should stop to think about all the people in line behind us and their time, the employees ability to get the order ready in their time company emposed time limit, and now the current price of gas. And if we don't, it's all about me, the heck with everyone else. I'm sorry I just don't put that much thought into it when I'm ordering my snack wrap, I'm a horrible person

If you have to stop and make a point of thinking about those around you, yes, it's a pain.

Some of us, though, think about those around us naturally and it doesn't take any special concerted effort.

I have never had a drive-thru window worker act angry or irritated when I place a large order. They usually just say, please pull up (or park, if the place has a spot for that) and we'll bring it out to you, ok? I say, sure. Food comes. Never had a problem!

Now if I got in the drive thru line to order those 14 meals, and they were all going to be the same, and IF I already knew exactly what I was ordering, it might not hold up the line, because once I got to the window, paid whatever amount I owed, they would ask me to pull forward.

If I didn't already know exactly what I was going to order (which sounds like the case in the op), I would think that I might be holding up those behind me, and I'd go inside to order.

Ya know six months from now there will be a thread about someone being ticked off bc they went inside to eat and the person if front of them placde a a large order and there wasNOT a good line to move to, or by the time they realized they would be stuck behind this person, the other lines were too long to move!

Honestly, the thought would cross my mind, if I'm going through the drive-thru to order a very large order, maybe not for a sandwich, fries and a drink, because I can't imagine that kind of an order would take very long, but for a larger order, yes.

How dare a consumer..going to a place that provides food and ask for what they want and how many they want. Selfish indeed

They should by all means be "considerate" and go with whatever is fastest lest someone who is working their have to work or other consumers have to wait a moment too long while the order is placed/paid for.

After all as the paying customer your feelings, wants and needs are not important..only those of the people behind you and the workers and their time limits.

I pretty much spend my days putting my families needs above my own, but honestly, when I go through a drive thru, I can't say that I have given a whole lot of thought to the people in their cars behind me!!!
