14 Happy Meals? Really?

i know, im just expressing how i would feel as the OP... :P

besides, mcdonalds make their food amazingly fast. i doubt u wait more than 2 mins for your food anyways...

Ah, gotcha. I'll admit that I'd be a bit annoyed that I happened to get stuck behind that person, but I wouldn't question their right to be there at all. It would be one of those "it's just my dumb luck..." kind of moments.

I think it is funny that typically on the DIS when you mention you eat fast food, people claim they would never eat that horrible stuff. Yet here we are with almost 10 pages of people describing their drive thrus!

Oh my gosh that so true Erin. I've been a member for a while but haven't posted much! I think it's because Im nervouse I don't measure up because I eat fast food, let my kids play video games and the like!

I find it more odd that someone goes through the drive thru to order a soda than someone going through the drive thru to order meals (no matter how many).

Ok, so let me get this straight. YOu go to the drive thru, it is your time and you are entitle to order what you want in any amount. Ok, so as many of you stated, you would do this partially because you really can't carry that much food out. So you go and order and then you expect MORE THAN ONE of their employees to bring out your food, because as most of you stated, you can't handle all that food at one time.

Actually when I need to pull up and wait, the employee hands me my drinks and then tells me where to park. 14 happy meals sans drinks can probably be carried out by one person.

I do that when I'm running errands and need my caffeine fix but don't feel like standing in line inside. If the drive thru line is long I just enjoy listening to Pandora or the radio.

I have to chime in to say that McDonald's has great fountain soda! :thumbsup2 Atleast the one I frequent does. I will often go through just for their caffeine-free diet Coke. And often, if it's busy, they'll give me my drink right through the first "pay" window and bypass the "food" one all together. :goodvibes

You can bet the farm also that the same people who say they don't eat fast food, probably eat enough of that crap while at WDW and don't see the similarities. It's common knowledge that Disney theme parks sell enough processed chicken nuggets and deep fried hockey pucks disguised as burgers, in one day alone, to feed a small city. That food just doesn't eat itself and somebody has to buying it.:rolleyes1

No I wouldn't either at the drive thru or inside. It would be different if it were 14 happy meals because with that type of order, if it wasn't ready you could go park in the wait for your food space. let alone specialty, here is a specialty either eat what I bring you back or take the stuff off, lol.

I don't even know if I like 14 people in the same place enough to go get them some food, lol.

Ok lets say about 4 or 5. Once you get into double digits, you are done. I do find it interesting, because I am trying to figure out who would be buying 14 happy meals, or 14 of anything, especially since not too long ago there was a thread about how people would refuse to pick up lunch for people at work. I have to say that I have never in all my 40 something years had the occasion to order 14 meals at place that has a drive thru. So does that answer your question?

So, even though you said you were done with this, agree or disagree, you were done - have a good night, blah blah blah -- you actually weren't done. HMMM Do you not get that if an order isn't ready by the time the person gets to the window to pay that they're generally asked to pull up (or over into a space) and wait for the food to be brought out??? Seriously???

That's NOT completely true. You're usually asked to pull up when the food isn't finished COOKING. It the food going into these kid's meals is actually cooked, you're more likely to stay at the window.

Also as many have pointed out this person would NOT have sat at the window until all 14 items were ready..she would have been asked to park and it would be brought to her. You don't seem to get that either. The guy ordering his morning coffee would have taken only a couple minutes less to place and order than this lady.

This kinda makes me laugh. I worked at McDonald's, and the majority of those people that had huge orders like 14 happy meals refused to park. Like another person mentioned about the drive through she worked at, we had a time limit. From the time we took their order, to the time we got them out of the lane, it was supposed to be less than 90 seconds. Technically, it was the second they entered the lane, but even the higher ups realized that sometimes the customers would just sit there and not put in their order for five minutes. So a person coming through with an order of 14 happy meals would all get in our bad side quite honestly. We obviously were as polite as always and did everything as quickly and efficiently as possible to get them out.

Now those people that came inside and were patient with us would often find an extra something or other in their bags. Maybe an extra order of fries, an ice cream cone, or whatever we had accidentally made extra of. And we always helped them carry it out to their car and get it situated. We would even box them up if that was necessary. I remember we had a teacher come in and order 65 ice cream sundaes. :scared1:  Our machine would tend to shut down after about 40, so we had to improvise a cooler box out of fry boxes and ice, and it took us a half an hour for it all to work. Our machine just couldn't handle it. She was great though, very patient, and laughed about how she should have just bought a few gallons and some toppings at the grocery store next door. :lmao: We gave her a frappe with an extra shot of espresso cause we figured she'd need it to survive the rest of the day with her class.

Basically, sure, it's great that we have a drive through, and if you do go through it, PARK IF THEY ASK YOU! And honestly, expect it to be faster if you go inside. In my experience, it always was.

I understand one thing, your posts are coming across as too bad, you wait your turn, I will take as much time as I need, I will pull forward and have multiple employees bring out my food, or have them make multiple trips, so I don't have to get out of my car and deal with my food. I understand perfectly.

We will have to agree to disagree. I am sorry that you think I am incapable of understanding. I can assure you I can. Have a good one.

If I paid them for their food and service, I don't see a problem having them carry out the large order. If it takes two employees or one making two trips, that is the stores decision. I guarantee you they are happy to carry my order out because I chose to order my large order from them as opposed to the other 20 fast food joints within the mile radius.

Ordering a big order and pulling up to wait doesn't take any more time away from the people behind you than ordering a small order and pulling up to wait does.

I am actually so shocked by the responses, I had to post a poll. I have always been under the impression the dt was for simple and quick. I have always gone in if I had anything complicated or special order that might tie up the line.

No, if you want simple & quick -- you go inside. 9 times out of 10 it is faster.

I think that was just your assumption, you can place as big of an order as you would like at the drive-through. What they will usually have youd o if it is a big order or something that will take a while, is go park in a reserved spot after you pay, that way everything keeps flowing. Even just me ordering for my 4 kids can be complicated but it is sometimes easier to just do dt than drag them all out of the car to turn around and take our order back into the car.
