Hi we have booked a 14 day trip from UK next year , staying at the Beach Club. Me, husband, my parents and sons (6 + 8). Long way off but slow afternoon at work and my mind has wandered to Disney planning. Would anyone be happy to share itineraries for spending most of a two week stay at the Disney parks with a few days at Universal? Eldest son has ASD so thinking we should start at Disney resorts since he has been to those before whereas it will be his first trip to Universal. We have 14 day Disney passes and same for Universal. My sons couldn’t manage full days at the parks last trip, so we went to the parks most days with a few hours at the swimming pool either before or after. Our “rest” days were at Typhoon Lagoon with Disney Springs in the evening.

What time of year were planning to go? With the compact nature of Universal I would consider getting a Universal hotel for your Universal days.

The crowds really should not be to bad then but you high humidity, heat, potential hurricane risk. It’s will be Halloween season with the pumpkins decor in MK and the Not So Scary Halloween parties. Universal will be getting ready for Halloween Horror Nights so there will be physical props out in the scare zones.

I would go to Disney first since your son is familiar with it. Universal 3-4 days is plenty of time to see everything. I would look into booking one of the premiere Universal hotels (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, Portofino Bay ) for Express passes for both check in/checkout days.

Thank you for this suggestion. I think it might well be worth us doubling up on a hotel room for a night to get the express passes at Universal. We almost switched to Easter this time around but quite a lot more expensive and it looked like crowds could be a lot higher. My parents always took us in August as kids but they thought the humidity and storms were worse last year than they remembered (although they also thought it might just be their age!)

If you are not aware, I would suggest looking into getting a DAS pass for your son. That will help you with your plans immensely. You can book lightning lanes before you arrive and the whole process can be done online from your home. Our middle daughter is 27 and we've been using DAS passes since she was diagnosed with ASD 25 years ago. Not only does it make your son's vacation better but your whole family.
