$130 point for BLT

I guess i am simple. I thought the price increase was to raise resale costs and to pave the way for them to ROFR more BLT points and pull back points for them to resale direct. Or...they could be trying to raise capital. They just applied for the permits to build a new set of DVC villas where River Country is now. Personally, I am not giving them $130 a point for BLT so we are definitely doing resale for the remaining points we want. But..... there is another pod cast middle of Nov so we will have to see what prices will be at that time.

I don't recall having talked about the resale market in any of my posts. ;) Secondary market was not the topic at hand here.

Okay, so by:

I cannot even IMAGINE any other resort anywhere else on-property ever even being able to hold a candle to BLT price-wise, no matter how elaborate or to what resort it might be added on to

What you meant is:

I cannot even IMAGINE any other resort anywhere else on-property ever even being able to hold a candle to BLT retail price-wise, no matter how elaborate or to what resort it might be added on to except for maybe the Poly and/or GF if and when a DVC is announced at those locations ... but if BLT is already sold out at that point, that counts as "ever!"

;)

I was simply saying that no other DVC on-property will ever be able to be priced as high as BLT as long as BLT is for sale by DVD as "new". Stop putting words in my mouth, please. This entire thread has been about retail sales by DVD for DVC with barely a mention (none that I remember) of the resale market.

You should go back and read my other posts in this thread as they say basically exactly what you construed in what you intended to be a mockery of my post.

Please feel free to ignore my posts if you don't like what I have to say but please do me the courtesy of not trying to extrapolate what you think I may have I meant to others. :)

Let me simplify. There will never be another resort for sale on-property at a higher price than BLT as long as BLT is available. That's all I've said all along and I believe that. Whether I'm right or wrong, only time will tell. (Edit Add: Certainly there will be DVC points sold at a higher price after BLT is gone. I never said nor intended to imply that this wouldn't be the case. BLT is the current flagship product and is marketed as-such and therefore drives the price of every other resort in the system. End Add)

Easy, Wilson! I'm just giving you an (intended to be good-natured) hard time based on your middle quote in my post above, which I think we can all agree is just a tad hyperbolic. I think everything you've said since is pretty reasonable. :hippie:

It's all good. I'm sorry. Your post just caught me wrong. I tend to be a little hot-headed and take things way too personally sometimes. Please forgive.

Or...they could be trying to raise capital. They just applied for the permits to build a new set of DVC villas where River Country is now.

Actually the permits applied for were to move/relocate the barn & a few assorted buildings at the Fort up closer to the front. Of course the rumor mill is going wild because the drawings submitted included additional parts that may indeed prove to be another DVC resort, but it may be a different type of resort as well, or nothing at all in the here and now. Many things/ideas come and go, and nothing has been announced from Disney. Just a lot of rumors and people on the web digging up as much info as possible to try and figure out exactly what they are doing. But then the same kind of thing happened with BLT, especially since they didn't announce it officially until the tower was nearly built. Time will tell of course...

With its proximity to the MK, I cannot even IMAGINE any other resort anywhere else on-property ever even being able to hold a candle to BLT price-wise, no matter how elaborate or to what resort it might be added on to.

Unless they're planning on destroying Tomorrowland to build Cindy's DVC with her clotheline attached to one room's prime balcony's terrace, it just ain't gonna happen IMHO. :rotfl2

I will say there is some merit to foreign buyers of DVC jumping in with the weak US dollar. That may not be the only reason for it, but as a Canadian I am used to our "monopoly" money worth at least 15% to 20% less than the Greenback. Right now we are more or less at par and when i bought last year I bought when the Canadian dollar was worth more than the US dollar. The way I look at it, the Canadian dollar will eventually fall back to similar levels as before against the US dollar. When it does then any hit in the resale value of my BLT points will be offset by the increased value of the US dollar against the Canadian dollar. So if DVC is no longer desirable in say 10 years then with luck my trips only cost me my MFs per year and I recover the purchase price on the resale market. Any way I slice it I still saved a ton compared to rack rates.

As for why are they raising their price I agree with many that Disney is banking on a rebound to the economy and DVC is more of a luxury purchase. It is a highly discretionary purchase (like fine art) and tends to pick up when the economy does.

Earlier someone asked what incentives are currently being offered.. I had the "pleasure" of sitting thru a presentation last week and the only promotion was $12 off per point on purchases over 160 points and $6 off per point if under 160 points.
Had to be purchased before you checked out of the resort to get the "deal".

They were strongly pushing BLT. We were staying at AKL and had inquired about purchasing there. Was told we could but was discouraged by him showing the differences in mtce costs and telling us it wasn't a good deal to purchase AKV.

I am waiting for the day when the list price is $200 per point but if you buy today there is an $80 incentive bringing the price to $120 per point.

:rotfl:

Jason

:scared1:, I hope not

Was wondering what the current price per point are for Bay Lake and Animal Kingdom. Also are there any incentives right now?

Thanks.

I think you can get AKV around $100/ppt (not counting the gift card they are offering) for add ons of 100 points or more. For new members, the minimum is 160.

BLT is running $117/ppt for add ons of 100 up to 249. At 250 or more, it is $112/ppt. For new members, it is just $117/ppt for 160 and above. There is no gift card incentive for BLT.
