13 Year old gir declared brain dead has now officially died

I hope the family can come to some place of peace.

There is no way for them to un-see or un-feel the things that happened in the 2 months between when she actually died and when her body was allowed to come to rest.

I can't vouch for anything in the video, just sharing since we haven't heard anything new in ages!

I highly doubt that was Jahi, the mom probably went to someone else's room as to keep "up appearances" and not look like a crackpot. Sorry, I am in a very snarky mood. But thanks for posting the link.

Glad the hospital took her off and didn't keep up with the BS of oh we can't declare her dead because we won't allow our doctors to do it, etc. That nonsense needs to be investigated.

Hope she can now rest in peace and family can finally grieve and have closure of the mess that has happened.

To what end? There was 0 chance of any good coming of that. :sad2: Once that report came out on the fetus, I imagine they were hoping the judge would rule against them. As bad as things were, they could have been worse if things hadn't ended now.

That may or may not have been Jahi. We didn't see anyone's face. There is a possibility of an external object causing an automatic response even in a brain dead person. It seems more like Jahi's mother has seen one too many tv shows.
In order to declare a person brain dead, there are other tests, such as the oculovestibular reflex where the doctor will pour ice cold water into a patient's ear and look for eye movement. In a person who has brain activity, the eyes will actively twitch. It is done on both ears. Another observation is whether or not the pupils are fixed, is there spontaneous respiration if the breathing tube is removed, etc. It is not a decision easily made in the heat of the moment.

You don't think that the hospital should be investigated? Hospital saying oh she is in serious condition when they knew she was brain dead? They essentially doing the same thing that Jahi's family is doing, messing with a corpse. It is unethical.

If anything, the hospital should have done the "right" thing and gone before a judge from the get go if they either weren't sure how the law applied to see if she could be taken off instead of the hot mess they put that family through, what happened to do no harm?

I didn't say that at all. I agree the entire episode was awful and needs to be reviewed thoroughly to avoid anything like this ever happening again.

I'm only saying they were probably relieved to have the judge make the order and get them out of the mess they made for themselves.

I am sorry, I misunderstood. :flower3:

But here is what I curious about from a possible insurance standpoint if they had it, I wonder what date is on her death certificate?

I'm curious about that too. If they had not officially declared her brain dead, then probably today would be the date. And if private insurance was paying all along, I'd be curious to see if they pursue any litigation against the hospital to recover that. Surely it's not a small amount.

Yes, because if they put the date of today, that is shady as well as insurance fraud I would think?

I have to think it would be something along those lines. I sure hope we hear how that plays out.

Exactly. Looking at the 3,4,5 toes on the one foot, things don't look good. Rumor has it that this was taken back in December when she was still in the hospital. So sad that this childs body is being treated like internet fodder.

Which is why I stopped watching it seconds into the video once I figured out what it was. Frankly, I don't want to see Jahi's body and I respectfully ask that any other links to photos or videos posted to this thread be marked as such :flower3:.

That video may or may not be Jahi. The foot movement is an auto response from the spinal cord.

As for the Munoz case, I might not use the word "fraud", but I have no doubt that the family's health insurer will have some interesting discussions with the hospital about coverage.

The video of Jahi shows an automatic response, which comes from the spinal cord.

While I might not use the word "fraud", I am sure that the health insurance company for the Munoz family has had, or will have, interesting discussions with the hospital about coverage.

A claim of that magnitude could have significant impact on the company's insurance renewal. It would be interesting to hear the discussions that have gone on behind closed doors.

I was gong to say the same about the auto reflex from the spinal cord.

I can imagine how interesting those insurance discussions will be.
