Moonlight Magic Registration Question

Targeting a Typhoon Lagoon MM this summer. I was all set with my full stay for this particular week, but then we decided to invite the in-laws, and now I'm waitlisting a few nights to try to get my full stay. I do have the night secured in the room I want that will qualify me for early MM registration, but I'm waitlisting the night before it and the night after. So, two questions (that assume I successfully register for MM during early registration, which I know is not guaranteed).

1. If the night that qualifies me for MM is later merged by MS with waitlist nights that come through, will that affect my MM registration? From other posts, I think the answer to that is no. As long as MS is making the changes, I should be ok.

2. Let's say my waitlists don't come through, and I end up modifying myself (not cancelling and rebooking) the reservation that qualifies me for MM to a different room or different resort, but with the same people in the room, would that affect my MM registration? I don't think I've found an answer to this question.

I'll give a little more background if it is helpful. I'm targeting 8 nights in a RIV 2 BR Preferred View Lock-Off. I have nights 1-5 secured, night 6 waitlisted, night 7 secured, and night 8 waitlisted. MM is on night 7. For nights 6 and 8, I have regular 2 BR villas reserved that are set to be canceled if the waitlist comes through. So, assuming both waitlists come through, I'd be merging them all together. If they don't come through, I'd probably either change nights 6-8 to all being a RIV 2 BR or possibly moving to SSR for a 2 BR lock-off - I'd be sure to modify the night 7 reservation rather than cancelling and rebooking (although maybe I should call MS to have it done rather than doing it myself just to make sure).

I've made modifications to a MM eligible reservation without issue. Just remember to have all your guests listed or create dummy names by the deadline.

I have no proof of this, but I don't think the MM registration and room reservations are actually linked post registration. I just don't think Disney IT is sophisticated enough. I had registered for a MM event on a check-out/check-in split stay day and when I asked what would happen if I canceled one (without specifying which), they said I'd still be fine.

Perfect. Thank you so much. That is exactly what I was hoping would be the case.
