Hi there,

We're booked for a cruise in August that I doubt is going to happen. We're looking at the same cruise next year, IF this cruise is cancelled.

1. If I book that same cruise NOW and our cruise is cancelled later, can I apply our FCC to that cruise at that time?

2. The re-booked cruise is cheaper than the cruise we are booked on now. Will the excess funds be applied as OBC, or will we just receive a refund in the amount of the difference between what we pay for the "new" cruise and what we "originally" paid for the (likely) cancelled cruise?

1. I believe that the future cruise you apply the FCC to must be a new booking, and not applied to a currently booked cruise.

2. Any overage on a new cruise booking is applied as OBC.

Ok - didn't realize it had to be a new booking.

What if, even after the cruise, we haven't used what we originally paid? Will that then be refunded? There's a massive price difference so just trying to cover our bases.

Also, do you know if we need to be PIF to receive the FCC? Our PIF date is still a few weeks away, but we're wondering if the cruise might be cancelled before that PIF date.

I believe any monies left after the cruise (if you haven't use all your OBC) are forfeited. That's a great opportunity to experience onboard things that you normally wouldn't pay for (adult dining, tastings classes, jewelry.......)

If the cruise is canceled before you've paid in full, I believe the FCC (for a future cruise) is 125% of the monies that you've paid, not the full cost.

That would be any money paid toward the base cruise fare. I believe extra things that you paid for (airfare, taxes, port fees) are refunded directly to the form of payment originally used.

Thanks. The "new" cruise would be thousands more than the cruise we've booked (about $6000) so we're probably not going to spend that onboard and would just want to be sure we get back whatever we originally paid. Sounds like it's going to be best to take the refund and not the FCC!

I read somewhere that you can buy gift cards with your onboard credit. So that may be an idea to use up those credits.

Just playing Devil's advocate here, but if Disney is looking to mitigate their losses, and start canceling cruises that are outside of final payment, my guess is that they will just refund your deposit, or whatever you paid up until that date. I can't see them offering extra credits at that point.

I have heard from my TA that you actually can now apply it to a booked cruise (this wasn't the case just a few weeks ago). That said, if you used any kind of special Onboard Booking offer (i.e. placeholder) that will not transfer to the new booking. But if you just booked the cancelled cruise online or through a TA just as a normal booking, you will be able to transfer it to the new cruise next year without cancelling.

Right now, you can put down a hold without putting down a deposit for quite awhile. I'm waiting for our Greek cruise to be cancelled and I saw that the cruise wants has a room that I want so I went ahead and put a deposit on it just to keep anyone from booking the room, but we booked Greece with 10% off (and the old $250 onboard credit) and I don't want to lose that so I'm just going to have my TA cancel the cruise I booked and then immediately rebook it with my FCC, moving me into the room that I want.

They had an issue with an employee stealing money with these cards, so I believe, that is no longer possible.

This is correct. I have a cruise scheduled for November. when they cancelled my April 25 cruise, I called to rebook the November cruise with the credit. She just took the credit and transferred it to the existing reservation. No need to cancel. If you are looking at a cruise and want a specific room, it's a good idea to put it on hold now so you can lock in the price and add the FCC credit when you get it.

The only downside if is you are using a placeholder, you would have to rebook at the current price on the day you call to use the FCC so the price could change. But it is nice to be guaranteed the room you want.

Does anyone happen to know if you must book any new cruises with FCC through the same travel agent you were using for the original reservation that resulted in FCC? Wondering if Disney will allow me to use the credit directly with them now.

If you have a TA you were using for the cancelled cruise, the TA must move it for you and they will continue to control the new cruise. As far as I know, it's even the same reservation number. I haven't moved mine yet, but I'm pretty sure that's what my TA said.

Sort of like when you have a placeholder and then you convert - the TA stays with it and the reservation number that was assigned when you put down the $250 for the placeholder is the same reservation number on the actual sailing.

Can you use the 125% credit by booking via Costco — such that you can also get the Costco cash card?

If your original (canceled) cruise was booked through Costco then yes. I don’t think you can transfer a cruise with the 125% FCC to Costco at this point.

Exactly. In fact, I think it’s precisely the reason they gave a 30 day extension on a bunch of cruises. They’re hoping we cancel before they do so they aren’t “obligated” to give the extra 25%.

We’re facing this same scenario. Got an Aug 2020 Alaska cruise booked. We’re not the risk-taking type so we’ll likely cancel right before the PIF date. It’s hard to walk away from the (very high) possibility of that extra 25% but I keep reminding myself DCL really doesn’t owe anyone more than they paid.

The sad part for us is our OBB from a placeholder made on a previous sailing expires Dec 2020. And we’re not able to rebook by then. So we lose that and 25%. But then I remind myself that we’re actually very blessed because our “worst” problem right now is having to rebook our 4th Disney Cruise. The extra cost (same cruise next year costs more) is a huge bummer but at least we have another year to save. So I’m focusing on being grateful for what we have in this incredibly difficult time.

I wanted to share my experience with you in case it will be helpful. I was on a Greek Isles cruise, which was just canceled by Disney. I originally booked my canceled cruise was with Costco. When the cruise canceled, I received an email from Disney, not from Costco. I called Disney to transfer the FCC to an existing cruise, which they did with no problem. I booked my existing cruise via the Disney website on 3/31 (deposit paid 4/13) and did not transfer the reservation to Costco. Disney also said I can transfer the remaining credit to another cruise at a later time, or I can keep the remaining credit as onboard credit. Hope this helps you and others with the same question!

Does anybody know if you’re able to combine fcc? For example, i have back to back cruises booked for August. If Disney cancels and I get fcc, can I combine the credits from the 2 cruises to take 1 more expensive cruise.

When I knew that my EBTA would be cancelled this year, I began watching the rooms on the 2021 disappear. Afraid I wouldn't get adjoining rooms I'd be happy with, I held my desired rooms through DCL. I did not make a deposit. When our cruise was cancelled, I was allowed to move all of my money and credits (including a previously booked placeholder) to the 2021 cruise and essentially pay it off.

Sorry if this has been asked. I'm waiting for a call back from my travel agent, but figured I would ask here. If my cancelled cruise was booked with a place holder and I take the FCC. Do I get the placeholder back to use at another time? Can I then combine the placeholder with the FCC or is it just one or the other?

I was allowed yesterday when I rebooked with the FCC to also apply the 10% and still receive the $200 per cabin credit to the new cruise booking!
