Disney Wish. MAN OVERBOARD!

Following the Reddit thread on this situation and it sounds like they are trying to confirm if the person spotted in the water was from the Wish or possibly some other ship. Several ships left port around the same time, or it could be someone from a smaller boat that capsized. Interesting use of the muster stations that had never occurred to me. Sad if people are not complying.

ETA: announcement just made that all guests are accounted for

Did you have to just check in at your muster station or did they make you wait until everyone who is supposed to be there showed up?

Thanks for all your info tonight. My fam could not hear the announcement due to crying children, so I passed it along to them. Hope the rest of the cruise goes well.

The rescue boat has still not been recovered and is still located in the area near the illuminated life-rings (which were deployed when the MOB announcement was made), a few hundred yards from the ship. All crew members were ordered to remain at their stations.

The captain just announced that all crew and guests have been accounted for and the search is being canceled!
Thanks for all your updates throughout this ordeal. I have been sharing your info with family who are on the ship. I hope everyone can get some sleep now. (Including me!)

Whew..! Thank you so much for letting us know!

So why did they think someone was in the water? That's a pretty big error.
They said there was a person in the water - its just that they have confirmed it was NOT someone from the Wish.

Wow what a relief it wasn't a Disney cruiser???? 😳.. um OK.

Thank you for the updates.

I have been on 8 Disney cruises - can't remember if they make announcements in multiple languages. Just wondering if it's a language issue or people just not complying :(.

In addition to what @AquaDame noted, and while I am sure that DCL has a much more accurate system, the international standard for such system is:
The International Standards Organization (ISO) has developed standards for such systems. ISO 21195, Systems for the detection of persons while going overboard from ships (man overboard detection), requires that MOB detection systems operate at a 95% probability of detection and generate no more than one false alert per day. To ensure that a system meets these standards, classification societies such as Lloyd’s Register conduct rigorous testing known as Type Approval
Now, most modern systems will sacrifice a little bit of accuracy to bring the potential of a false alarm to pretty much zero. Then again, we don't know if it was a false alarm or not

Thank you for the updates.

Could be.... but if the general alarm is sounded, the general alarm is sounded.... "this is not a drill"...

Those on-board provided the following information that was sent to the app this morning. Appears that the MOB system alerted to debris in the water.

Official message from the app:

Good Morning Guest,

As per Captain’s announcement-

A report of a possible man overboard last evening prompted immediate activation of safety protocols earlier this evening, including a full muster drill and deployment of rescue vessels. We’re pleased to report that all guests and crew are safe and accounted for. A large piece of debris found in the water is believed to be the source of the initial sighting.

We appreciate everyone's calm cooperation in ensuring the safety of all onboard. We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption of last night's activities. In appreciation of your patience, each stateroom will receive a $150 onboard credit.

Thank you and have a magical day in Castaway Cay.
