Day 2-- Friday 10/31

Cast-- the same

Today just didn't seem like it could possibly be Halloween. We spent a better part of the day in the pool and laying in the sun. Being from the Buffalo NY area, this just seemed surreal. We were pretty much spending the day relaxing. We all wanted to try and do MNSSHP from start to finish, so we were recharging. I was also about to get a huge dose of reality in trying to take 12 people through a park.

We arrived at MK gates at 4:05pm. We had a 5pm PS at LTT prior to the party. We received our bags, maps, and wristbands. It was slow going up Main St, as I had planned. That is why I gave us an hour to get to dinner. The whole group was in awe over the castle and all the Main St. atmosphere. I got a little misty eyed (I always do). Dinner was delicious and we were all seated together again. Orginally there were only 8 of us going on this trip. Then 8 weeks prior to going 4 more decided to join in. I couldn't get any PS's for 12 people. So we had all the original 8 people PS's then I made another for 4 more. I did notice my family being a little skeptical about their costumes. Their were lots and lots of kids dressed up, but very few adults. Thankfully as the night wore on-- we noticed about 50% of the adults dressed up. All 9 adults were piratespirate: . DS was a solider. Then the 2 little girls were both CInderella. We saw so many wonderful costumes. I could of spent the whole night just people watching.

After dinner, we headed to Tomorrowland-- as it was only 6pm. We walked right onto Buzz and Tranist authority. We then got in line for our picture. The line looked intimidating, but it moved quickly. We only waited about 10 minutes. There was some dancing and music going on nby Space Mtn. and we went over there and got into the groove while the smokers went to find the smoking area. We were really having a good time.

Once the party officially began at 7pm-- we tried to make our way to Toontown. This was a huge mistake. It was wall-to-wall people. You could not move an inch. We left almost right away and headed into Fantasyland. I noticed Pooh only had a 5 min wait, so we got in line. We then went and did POC and HM (both only 5 min as well). It took almost 2 hrs to do these rides. All because, I came to realize I was w/ a group of slow walking people. I thought DH was going to lose it. He and I had a long talk prior to the trip about patience. He is short tempered and doesn't like crowds. He was starting to get frustrated and it was wearing on my nerves. That and trying to keep 12 people together. One wanted to look at this while 2 are going to the left and 3 are going to the right. And of course someone has to pee, even though we just stopped 5 minutes ago.

I took the whole party up to Main St. to get a spot for the fireworks and the second parade. The fireworks were delayed due to techinical issues, but eventually went off about 15 minutes late. The parade was true Disney fashion and was out of this world. After the parade Sis and her family decided to go home. Her DD was tired and not willing to fall asleep. That left 9. We went and did HM again then went to look at Cinderella's carriage. The kids did some character meet & greets in front of the castle. By this time its alittle after 11pm. We were able to walk right onto Dumbo and Snow White. I then took the 2 kids a did some commando style trick-or-treating in toontown-- while DH lead the rest of the group towards the entrance. The kids were real troopers and were racing ahead of me. They were excited to finally be getting some candy. (we had only done 2 other spots all night due to the long lines). Since it was almost midnight--- the CM's were literally dumping several handfuls into their bags. We went home w/ overflowing candy bags. The funny thing was, up until 11:45 we had only gotten 2 pieces of candy!

By now, everyone was beat, and we were all acting alittle silly. The good news was, we survived our first night of family style Disney touring. However, when we got back to the villa DH and I had a long whispered talk. He really needed a couple hours at each park alone w/ just me and DS he said. He just felt everyday all day was going to be too much. He likes to commando style the parks, and just couldn't get beyond that. I had to rethink my strategy.

we did the christmas party last year and it was sort of the same type.....rush ....go on rides.....have fun and eat and rides andparades and fireworks.....and photo......thanks so much for your report.....hope your hubby has a good time too

I really appreciate your details about traveling with a large group....we will be a group of 8 next year and I think your insight of possible issues will be really helpful! Thanks!
