12 Days in Florida -- Disney World and Marco Island

I'm sure sorry to see this TR end. It's been my favorite - honestly, it has been the next best thing to being there. It took me away each time I stopped by to read an installment. Gotta say that for folks who had to cancel their vacation, things sure turned out SWEET.:cheer2:

When your next WDW trip comes along you'd better check your luggage carefully as I might be a tagalong. :rotfl2: I want to share in all the fun!! :thumbsup2

As much as I love FQ, walking those pretty grounds and "streets", it would not be my favorite resort if the pool was important - it is small and during busy times, anything but relaxing. No quiet pool, although FQ guests may use the Riverside pool, it's nice having pools right at the resort.

Had to laugh when you said how spread out SSR is compared to CSR - SSR makes CSR feel compact!!!:rotfl2: I've stayed there and it is not even close to as pretty as CSR, although it is peaceful and relaxing.

So happy you met some wonderful DIS'ers - love every picture!

....sigh...guess all good things must come to an end...at least we have one more installment to enjoy. Thanks so much Kathy, for taking the time to share your vacation with us! :grouphug:

p.s. I didn't know Nicki is from Boston! No wonder she's so great!! ::yes:: Sox didn't do so well last night.:sad2:

So you decided to start your TR while I was away! I have some catching up to do!!!! :surfweb:

You are back already? How was the trip? Did my sweet Juliana have a wonderful time? How was Pop?

It really was a great trip...fun and relaxing. I hate the getting back to reality and all the problems in the real world, but that's life. We were supposed to be in Dubuque today for the "pre-season" workout for wrestling, but Markie is currently not wrestling...we're waiting to find out if he has a fractured ankle. (:

We're staying at SSR this time because we're renting DVC and BC and BW weren't available. I'm praying we like it.... We stayed at POFQ last year and weren't impressed at all.

Kat, what a wonderful trip report! You did a great job! Thank you so much for sharing your vacay with us! I am so sad that i was not part of that dis meet :( next year??

Kathy, loved your report :thumbsup2 It's been a busy week, but I finally caught up and was happy to see that you had such a good time :goodvibes

But I've gotta say, Waffle House???? Really???? Blech!!! Sorry, but around here every single Waffle House ends up in the 'Eat Drink & Be Wary' report every week for the low score of the week  We've even seen the health dept shut them down

The SSR is beautiful; and I have no problem with a spread out resort...if I did, I wouldn't stay at the CSR every year. I think you'll be fine.

I am sad you couldn't make it either. What dates are you going next year? And where are you staying? Maybe we can arrange another one. :thumbsup2

Thanks; I'm glad you enjoyed the report.

You are the second person from NC who has told us they hate Waffle House. We have never had a bad meal at one. We've walked into some really dirty ones, but we've walked right out again. All the ones we've eaten at in Florida were very clean.

I'll do my final chapter tomorrow...I think I'm stretching it out because I'm sad the vacation is over.

Have a good night everyone.

WELLLLLL as luck would have it, we changed from CBR back to CSR!!! Something about CSR has captivated me!! That pool is what dreams are made of!! After looking at pics of CBR, I am just not interest at all ;/ Next year we are going from September 10-21 or 22..I can't recall..hope you are their any of those days lol!

:woohoo: I had a feeling you'd like CSR.

As of now, we are either going August 29 - September 6 or September 19 - 28. We hope to do three nights at the AKL and then we'll be back "home" at CSR.

Well, it is time for this trip report to come to an end.

We had a wonderful 12 day sin Florida and are already counting the days untl we are there again (now if we could just settle on dates: we are torn between August 29 - September 6 or September 19 - 28). We very much enjoyed doing Disney and then having some "down" time. We will probably do just Disney next year and then in 2011 do Disney for several days and then go back to Marco Island; we hope in 2011 to take our "baby" who is currently 21 and has not been to Disney since 2000 and he has the itch to go and see all the new stuff--and since he graduates college in 2011 and will then, hopefully, start working in September of that year as a special ed teacher, we will probably go in May right after his graduation.

I thank those of you who have joined us on our adventure and hope you enjoyed. And, for those of you who asked, here is a link to our dining report: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2245326&highlight=mini+trip

I hope all of you who have trips coming up that you have as magical a trip as we did; and I look forward to continuing to talk with all of my wonderful friends here on the DIS.

Kat ~ Thanks so much for your always wonderful TR's! I've enjoyed reading everything but even more so I've enjoyed getting to know you, you are such a great friend. Look forward to meeting one day, thanks again for sharing with us and taking the time to do so!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the trip report. I really enjoyed it. My daughter had some friends sleep over and they loved your report too. Now, i'm off to read your dining reviews. Thanks again!

well.. I clearly am going to have to vote for the 19-28, as that will give us an opportunity to at least say hi lol!

I think a split stay sounds awesome!

Aw I'd love to meet up with you at Disney, Kat but we're planning for March and December 2010. CSR in March and AKL in December. Ah one of these days, right? lol

Awww Kathy, I hate that your Florida trip has ended. I always want to cry when we leave Disney too. The only thing that keeps me sane is planning another trip to Disney which I see you are already starting to do.:thumbsup2

I've enjoyed getting to know you too. And I'm always here when you need something. :)

Glad that your DD and her friends enjoyed the report. Hope you enjoyed the dining review.

I'm working on the 19th - 28th...I have to convince the boss man that he can manage again without me after he just gets back from two months off. :lmao:

Perhaps one of these days we'll be on the "same" schedule. I would love to go in December...but until youngest is done with college and wrestling, that's not going to happen.

Yes, planning another trip helps. But it is always so sad to leave. I have to catch up on your report tonight (I just have 30 minutes for lunch and then back to an all day computer class today).

I finally had the chance to read through your whole report. I'm still trying to catch up after being gone for the week! LOL It sounds like you & Mark got to ride so many rides while still relaxing in WDW. Your pics of Marco Island are great! It must of been nice to relax after spending a few days in the parks.

I will answer all your questions and more when I write my TR.... which I am going to start 'write' now!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Kathy, I've been following your posts forever on the CSR thread and just now read your trip report! The CSR thread convinced me to stay for part of our girls' only trip with my two DDs. Part of our days actually overlapped with your stay there too. It was awesome minus our experiences with the Pepper Market, but we would go back in a heartbeat! I loved reading your trip report and even though the photos are the same whenever you look at them, they had "we were there....at that very same time!" energy. Does that make sense? I was reliving my WDW experience going through your thread. My older DD came down with H1N1 the day we got back and was very sick, so I really didn't have that Disney "let down", I didn't have a chance to even think about it. We're just now talking about all our good times and remembering our special time and all the excitement that goes with it. I'm thinking in a few days is when the post-Disney blues will set in.

I loved following your trip and the hats!! I showed DD all the photos of the hats and she got such a kick out of it, she has SCORES of hat photos from this trip!! :) There were times when I actually flipped out in stores because I would turn around and she would be gone. She would be off taking a photo of herself with as many hats as she could! They are hysterical! After a while, I would look for the hats and there she would be! She is really sad she did not spy the moose hats outside of Canada! :upsidedow
You and Mark ARE a wonderful couple and I enjoyed sharing in your special trip. You did look very relaxed after Marco Island!
I was actually kind of sad when your report came to a close...like watching a great movie you don't want to end! I hope to one day be brave enough to tackle a trip report and or dining review.

I'm such a "Mousejunkie", I was there 3 times this year and would keep going back and back and back and would love to make CSR a part of that, I'm trying to restrain on Disney for a while since we really would like to save up for a trip to Hawaii or Alaska someday...(somehow affiliated with Disney, of course!)
Thanks for sharing! :)
