12/6/08 Eastern ~ ***CURRENT ROSTER pg 68, post # 1007!

Okay, I just realized I'm feeling a little post nasal drip... popping 2000 mg vitamin C right now...

Chant with me....

I WILL NOT GET SICK
I WILL NOT GET SICK
I WILL NOT GET SICK

I just got over a week long cold and let it rough me up in hopes it won't return for the cruise!

Look into Emer'gen C as well, it's line of flavored vitamin packet drink mixes with 1000mg Vit C, DH and I have been taking 2-3 a day and will until the cruise.

You will not get sick! Or at least, you will not get sick on the cruise!

I hope none of us get sick before , during or after the trip!! pixiedust:

Hubby and I got our flu shot today. Now have to find time to get the kids theirs.

Time is actually going very fast because I have so much left to do yet. I have so many lists going right now with Christmas coming, Christmas parties and our trip. Plus just everyday stuff like kids homework and extra activities.

HOLIDAY 2008 ACTIVITIES
These events begin November 22 on the Magic and November 26 on the Wonder
Onboard:
  • "King Triton's Tree Lighting" nightly in the atrium. A child will assist the Disney characters as the three-deck-tall tree is lit

  • Traditional holiday dinners in the three themed dining rooms
  • Holiday edition of "Till We Meet Again"

Same here - I'm making gift baskets for Christmas gifts, and that plus traveling for the weekend to my inlaws at Thanksgiving down in West Palm Beach, plus getting everything scheduled and packed makes me want to pull my hair out! DH is no help since he claims he'd just be in the way. He wants to leave me to all the planning and just show up where and when I tell him.

I'm bothering DH every day with little questions. Parrot Cay or Topsider's the first day? Order bottled water package or bring it on? (we already have the rolling cooler packed with the wine, champagne, rum, and Passoa ;) )

I was wondering how other parents are handling the homework issue while on the trip? (In the past, our school board said the kids just COULDN'T go on vacation during school!! THAT didn't go over well!! LOL!):rotfl:
I am trying to get my boys to finish what they can before we leave, and I've told them they will have to do the rest on the boat:rotfl2: Yeah, right! Do other families have experience they would like to share?!

16 days 'till MK!!!!

I am living that life too!! Too much to do, so little time (HOW LONG have I known I was taking this trip? Seems like hours....:) )

Pity me....I have to drive from Massachusetts to New Jersey for Thanksgiving....if anyone has ever had to make that trip, you would understand....:scared1:

I wondered what Passoa is....?

We received our docs yesterday as well. There's not much to them anymore, now that they are available for printing online, but it was nice nonetheless.

Still checking our ressie online but no change in the cabin #.... no biggie - I love the room we have, and we've been upgraded twice in the past, so I'll leave that pixie dust for someone else :) Besides, we got the freebie upgrade to first class on our flight so I cannot complain about our good luck at all!

Are we settled on meeting in the Promenade Lounge at 3 pm on embarkation day?

Does everyone know where the Promenade Lounge is? For first timers, it's easy to find... it's a long lounge that runs along one side of the ship, between the mid and aft elevators on deck 3. I don't think many people are hanging out there on embarkation day so we should have some breathing room.

If you have any changes to your cruising info that you want me to include, please email me or PM me as you get it. I'll wait until the last minute possible so that I can capture all the upgrades :yay: that you get assigned. I also don't have photos for everyone so please try to get one to me... I've gotten the Hidden Mickey list from DisneyLady so we'll have some fun looking for them!

Hi Joy! Hope you feel better soon!!:cool2:

3 pm in the Lounge sounds good to me! I can't wait! Thanks again for all the wristband work!!
Last cruise we took, one of our friends was easily identified because the only time she wasn't wearing her camera around her neck, she was in the pool!! I suspect you will be the same!:sunny:

I wondered what Passoa is....?

It's a passion fruit / tropical fruit flavored liquor - figured it'd be a good one to have around on a Caribbean cruise!

And yeah, luckily the trip for us to WPB is fairly easy - 528 over to I-95, then straight shot south, no snow/ice to worry about. And at least his family is the easy family to deal with ;)

I am Canadian so I have Thanksgiving out of the way.:lmao:

But I did go to my mom's that is a few hours away from us. Wanted to see her before the trip. So that was one weekend shot. Plus I kept thinking if I pack this much for two nights away how will I fit everything in for 7 nights. The shoes alone will take up a huge amount of room.

We wrote a note to the teachers and asked if they could send stuff home before we go. Last year when we went to WDW they gave it after. Now that was terrible. Hannah's in grade 3 and she has to do a journal while she is away and the teacher said she would send home math the week before. And do some kind of reading.

Nicholas is grade 6, I am afraid to see what she sends home. Both are in grades where they have government testing this year so they are really pushing them on math and reading. We not suppose to take family vacation either during the school year but we do every year.

I am Canadian

.

Hi NAB,

A few more Canadians along on the cruise as well, my sister is from BC, my Mom is from Que, and we're from NB, all meeting on the Magic for a little family time.

Anyway, just wondering if you're received your cruise doc's yet since I've been reading about others receiving theirs.

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Think we'll get to the next pirate before our cruise?

Joy,
I'm the other half of beerhider and just came back from a trip to St Thomas. Do you know which port in St Thomas the ship pulls into? Havensight is the most popular one, but there is also Crown something, closer to Charlotte Amalie. Thanks. Janet

We have year-round school here in Elk Grove and we're on B-track, which is off from Thanksgiving to New years. This year, my daughter started at the school that my son goes to but was assigned to C-track due to overcrowding issues. I immediately requested a transfer to B track as soon as space became available. So far nothing, and we've decided not to move her even if a spot does come open. She's too settled in with her class and teacher and I don't see the point in disrupting the good relationships she's developed. Her teacher is awesome and has known since day one that we were going to pull her out for a week and a half. She said she has other families coming and going for the holidays as well. This is 1st grade, so the work is not as critical. We'll wind up taking the homework packets with us. Knowing my daughter, she will probably wind up writing a story about her trip to present to the class anyway!

If we dock, we'll dock in Havensight, I think... but there are 4 or 5 other ships in port that day so we will most likely tender in because the other ships are much larger. I believe we tender into the center of town.

I received mine last Friday by FedEx. I also got my ME tags because we are staying at POR for one night when we get of the boat. They came by UPS.

We did most of it on line. It was a ticket like booket that listed our names, cabin, the DLC policies, insurance etc. and luggage tags for the ship.

We will be docking at Havensight. I called in to check shortly after you posted this Joy.

Talked with DS's home room teacher about the days he will miss and got the green light. In fact she said I'm all for life experiences, one less thing I have to worry about. :goodvibes

Joy, and everyone else who has been sick, including myself,
WE WILL GET BETTER, WE WILL GET BETTER, WE WILL GET BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!Even though I only burn and not tan, I plan on gooping myself up with sunscreen and getting one of those lounges and just baking to get rid of ANY residual bronchitis. I will pray, Joy, that you do NOT get sick!!!!!!
