12/6/08 Eastern ~ ***CURRENT ROSTER pg 68, post # 1007!

LOL, these wristbands are obnoxiously obvious. I think no one will have a problem noticing we're in the same group!

I was wondering if your family would have them ALL on your arms, didn't your order 50 or something for all of us, you would be the most obvious hidden Mickey ever?? :rotfl2:

Not sure what type of cast my nephew will have, the one they put on for now is temporary and they will be putting something else on before they leave. Still more appt's with Ortho Surgeon, but your baby powder idea is a good one.

I will divide them into baggies or something... lol... I am large boned... no way I'd get that many on my arms, hehe.

But they are sooooo bright green, you can't miss them! And the color fill really makes the lettering stand out.

.... So I'm excited about the trip.... scared, but excited!
This will be my first major trip into the "unknown" alone with my two kids. We do car trips all the time, but SERIOUS TRAVEL.... well, they have NEVER experienced THAT....
Gotta get to Portland Maine Jetport, park car, get on plane with kids who have NEVER flown, layover, down to Florida, and to the resort before I am safely reunited with my sister Anne, her family, and our Mom who will be cruising with us....
I have travelled all the time.... ALONE.....
Once there, I'll feel better.
Anne tells me she got us all wristbands, and that one of 'you' is in the cabin next to ours.... I'm looking forward to meeting you all...
I did splurge on Pirate outifts for the girls.... hey, I dont know when or IF we will ever have this opportunity again, and I want everything to be special. Got a Gymboree outfit for Kate, who is 5, and a 'Pirate Miss' outfit for Susan, who is 8. I want a portrait of the two of them.
So, if I recall, we are booked on the butterfly house/tour on St. Maarten, and the submarine on St. Thomas. I went to St. Thomas with my husband and mother-in-law in 2001 and I'm looking forward to returning.
.....Getting scared......
Got passports....
Got flights...............
Got Disney plans settled..........
Need luggage.................................
Need to pack.............................................
Need courage............................................................

It didnt HELP that I took the girls to see Madagascar II tonight, and I was NOT terribly impressed with the PLANE CRASH.
Ugh.

Preparation notes for the weekend...

We decided to ditch the tux for formal night and just go with the suit. part of the problem is that i had trouble finding a tux that fits my son, but I found a suit, so we're kinda "dressing down" for formal night. DD and I are still wearing long gowns though.

For semi-formal night, I got DD another dress today that she really likes. It's "swishy" :) and then we picked up a 2nd dress shirt and tie combo for DS since he's not wearing a tux.

I have been on the lookout for new sneakers but haven't seen much that I like. I need to head out to the Skechers outlet soon -- I can usually find something there.

I am at my parent's house tonight, and they have extra suitcases so I am bringing one back with me. That makes one garment bag, 2 large suitcases, 1 rolling duffel and 1 small suitcase/carry on; plus my camera bag, laptop, backpack for each kid (including portable DVD player, gameboy, books and art supplies; plus a stuffed Curious George that my DD now refuses to leave alone anywhere).

I really need to figure out my packing list to see what I need to buy... I know it will be here before we know it!

It looks like we'll have clear weather the week before the cruise, for those of you coming in before.... http://www.dryday.com/30dayWeather/US/Florida/Orlando.html

A bit iffier on the return side...

I don't know how accurate this is, but I have used it before and it's usually pretty close. This will be nice for our two days at Universal beforehand. Last time, it rained for most of the week we were there and although I don't really mind, it was a bit more hassle with DD in a stroller. Now they're at the age where we just pull on the hoods and dash about in the rain!

Kathy Rose,
:goodvibes It will all be fine. Your kids will most likely surprise you. When I travel with just the kids I always try to keep my eye on the light at the end of the tunnel...FAMILY!!! Good luck and we'll all see you on the 6th.

I can't believe it's getting so close. As of today, we leave in 10 days!! OK, now that I've just come to that realization I am starting to FREAK out!! I have soooo much yet to do!! Is anybody else in my boat?? No pun intended. :)

We got together with reneeaiko and her family this weekend and made Mickey-head tie-dye shirts! They turned out great!

LATAS, I wouldn't worry too much about flying with the kids. Mine has always loved flying and sees it as an adventure, hopefully yours will too! :) Good luck and remember to pack them multitudes of busy stuff!

pirate: pirate: Soon we'll be sailing in the Caribbean! OH YEAH!!!:cool1:

WOW! So do I understand the article correctly that they will be previewing "BOLT" in 3D on the cruise?????????
~Kathy:banana:

Yep! Moreover, you're the first cruisers on the Magic to experience the brand new technology in the theaters!

Have a fabulous time everyone!

I'm freaking out too! I'm too busy helping clients that are freaking out to help myself ;) Just kidding, but I am getting anxious!

Relax Kathy - you'll do great - the children will do great! Children do pick up on parents' stress though. We spend alot of time talking about how great it will be, how much fun we'll have and I let the children help with the preparations (pack their own suitcase, their own flight bag - a carryon backpack with snacks, small surprises from the dollar store), how exciting it is when the plane takes off and when it lands. There are also no surprises (mine do best being forewarned) such as long lines in TSA, waiting to board, wearing a seat belt, collecting the baggage, trekking to the rental car counter etc., being a big girl, big boy by standing quietly, respectfully).

When I travel with both grandchildren -- i sit between them. Bring snacks, either empty water bottles (mine don't like plain water, so I koolaid mixins). TSA has never confiscated our capri suns or juice boxes.

My 6yr old DGS likes his video game, mp3 player. The 5 yr old DGD prefers sticker books, crayola explosion and silly putty; she also likes to look out the window for tinkerbelle. Gum can help the take off/land change in air pressure.

This will be such an exciting time; just remember children pick up on parental stress levels; so if you are anxious about flying, they will too.
Statistics show that you are much safer flying than driving........ Now driving from Maine to Orlando, that would be something to really, really stress over! smile.

My kids are seasoned flyers as well... they've flown probably almost once a year since babies. My son on his first flight at 8 months, Sarah at 6 months. They totally know the security drill and everything... kick off shoes, put everything on the belt, wait to go through then walk through slowly and wait for stuff to come out on the other end...

Here is one I hope makes you smile... this is how diligent my kids are about airplane safety:

We finially have everything somewhat in place!! I can't wait!! Just need the travel docs to arrive and the date to come!!
