12/5/09 -- DUMMY -- The Cruise Your Heart Desires Most ; )

I was just wandering by to see whats' up and I am not clear as to what an

ABD

is?

Adventures By Disney. :goodvibes
It is a FANTASTIC vacation!!!! If time/money work out I am looking at an ABD for 2009.....

After seeing this onboard ship our first cruise, we decided to forego the pleasure of having Disney handle our luggage the next time

OH MY GOODNESS!! I would imagine this is how the luggage is handled at the airport, also......

I know I'm really stressed when I start pricing out disney vacations. hhmmm maybe if I spent the time working instead of surfing for vacations I would be less stressed... nah

:rotfl:

They are going to have a great time but I am tad worried. I had to send Bill to get them from going on another bus in Cartegena. I just happened to be looking out the window and sent Bill to retrieve them.

 I didn't realize that!!!!! Well.... you could tell them that you need to *help* them on this trip......;)
DH's office mangaer/secretary always HATES it when dh's father would go on a trip (she worked for him, also). *What hotel am I going to?* *I lost my keys.* * I need this...I need that*
One trip -- it was a pleasure trip w/MIL to MI for some big golf tournament they wanted to watch -- *Cheryl, has Sally (MIL) called you? What's her cell number?* FIL had LOST MIL at the tournament when he went to go buy coffee!!
MIL told us she hadn't moved and she wore a bright red beret (it was cold) so that she would be easy to spot!
And this man is a highly successful businessman. My mom (and MIL) swear it's because he has never had to deal with *minor details* so, he just doesn't pay attention to the details!

Helen won a clock on the last cruise and I won one on this cruise.

I need just half your luck David ... whatever will you do with 2 clocks :rolleyes1

I've been racking my brains as to why I didn't attend the CC meeting and all I can remember is that it overlapped with something else.:confused3 David

The only other thing I know of that was going on at the time was the scrapbook meet ... are you a closet scrapper

Helen should have been there! LOL! She would have been if Cheryl & I were there!!! :yay:

Tom, I'm not sure if someone answered you already but ABD is adventures by Disney. :)

SO tonites' Movie nite was really pleasant! I didn;t see much of the soccer practice as I was shooting images of the Movie nite activities for the year book.

So that $99 GPS came in ... and inital use of it suggests it is just fine. However, I am not a well informed user of these thing. In fact, this is the 1st GPS unit we've owned - and the 1st I've played with to any signifiacnt extent.

Tom, I'm not sure if someone answered you already but ABD is adventures by Disney. :)

Yeah, that's what it looked like when I walked by the luggage room on the last cruise (it was near our stateroom doors) and we DID receive damage to our luggage this time- from DCL (was that way when we got down there to get it in the terminal)- knocked off the complete plastic (and wheel gone too) on one of our largest luggage. bummer :( Wish it had happened to one of the smaller luggage. This is our disney luggage too. wahhhhhhhh

(oh also- we went thru flight there and luggage to us on the ship just fine- but after the cruise DCL taking our luggage to terminal also smashed a lot of toiletries.. in a lot of seperate ziplocs in a lot of seperate luggage- so they were all pretty much manhandled roughly. thank goodness I'd put them all in big ziplocs! Ziplocs rule! But it's a mess getting it all out and cleaned up afterwards.)

Someone mentioned they had more luggage on that cruise though (we had the same amount as on the 7 day cruise though) and so maybe they were in a bigger hurry and were rougher with the luggage? Or maybe we were just luckier on the first cruise LOL)

If it's any consolation, it looked like this on the 5 day as well. My luggage was the first to be handed-in at the port (we were there early to meet certain people getting off the 15 day EB Repo who came out a different door - you know who you are) so I guessed ours would either be first out or last. It was 5:20 and we still hadn't had a single item so I went looking for it.

I saw one of our cases at the bottom of a similar pile to the above and couldn't see any others. Our cases were fairly roughed-up and like the poster above we had managed to get our cases there after a 4500 mile journey across the Atlantic so like-for-like, they should be in good condition after being handled on a ship.

I'll certainly be taking a closer look on how they deal with our luggage in future.

...
Thanks Tom for all the above! I have been asking for an itenerary and we just have not gotten it together. Now that I see their stops- I am more envious.
There are a few places where they get off and take a side trip and meet the ship at another port. I know to see the Tah Majal they have to take 2 days out.
That was great seeing the pictures. Your FiL looked very happy to getting another grandchild. :)
So.... as long as Exxon Mobil stays worlds largest company, I guess my inheritance is safe. These days- who knows.:sad2:

Well...

... my information is not necessarily precise. It's 2nd hand info from another TA site. I noticed a difference in port schedule on Holland americas' home page versus the TA site... as HAL had an EXTRA 14 days in it... go figure?

SO... before any of us schedule this we've a LOT of investigative work and planning involved. Obviously, your triumpantly returning parents should be consulted for their tips and insights. That and the appropriate blogs and web threads. At this time however... I am just a casual party with curiosity and interest.

I gotta go now... we have a couple of soccer games today where I'm referee for one - and we're taking team pictures today and tomorrow... plus a birthday party today and an art walk tomorrow.

As for Exxon... I don't follow too many individual issues... however I bet with the petro run up it's probably doing fantastic! I vaguely read or heard recently that the oil sector had some 50 billion in QUARTERLY profit. I'm not sure which quarter they're referring to ... and I don't know what that translates into for dividends. However... I think for the time being your family must be doing great. I'm pretty conservative... though... and I like to diversify rather than concentrate too much into any one sector or ... dare I say ... company. I trust in time to grow the pot and weather any misfortunes or disasters.

1AUG2008...NYTimes said:

Record earnings for Exxon, the world’s largest publicly traded oil company, have become routine as the surge of oil prices in recent years has filled its coffers. The company’s income for the second quarter rose 14 percent, to $11.68 billion, compared to the same period a year ago. That beat the previous record of $11.66 billion set by Exxon in the last three months of 2007.

Exxon’s profits were nearly $90,000 a minute over the quarter, but it was less than Wall Street had expected. Exxon’s shares fell 4.6 percent, to close at $80.43. (The company calculates that it pays $274,000 a minute in taxes and spends $884,000 a minute to run the business.)

Have a great weekend folks! Stay safe and play nice.

It's been bothering me as to where I was at the time.:headache:

I'm not BUT Helen has a massive collection of items all sorted and ready to go in our conservatory - one day perhaps.:rotfl2:

Just a drive by posting... Been trying to download all my videos and I forgot about the Karaoke one we all did. "We are Family". It is funny. Thanks to Ms DH for taping it for us. I will post the link later...........

Will be babysitting tonight so the computers will most likely be in high demand. Off to the hardware store. Our recliner snapped a bolt and I have been trying to drill it out little by little but need a stronger bit and replacement bolt. Since the threads are def affected, will have to somehow epoxy the end inside the channel. Ugh! Yes I do all the handywork. Was a display major so know how to work all the tools.:thumbsup2

Stay tuned for the video.

So we should be keeping an eye on Utube for this... right?

So we've got a little time between soccer games this morning... and we've just finalized the arrangements to "cover" our obligations at home. Work and soccer are now covered properly - so we can proceed to book the Princess cruise next month. Our kids agreed to forego Halloween at home for the cruise - and this was a consideration as Juliannas' best friend is celebrating her birthday on October 31st. Now I have to get my TA to switch things AFTER I break it to my Dad and confirm it'll work out for him to sail sooner while saving him $500 over a January sailing next month instead of January. It should go quickly now... this will be our 1st sailing on Princess.

Crash I found the Mickey bar contest also. However it is a lot bigger than the karaoke. Maybe I will have to burn it and send it to you. Or just edit it down.

The first step for a good scrapbooker is to gather and collect things for many, many years, whether you need it or not!!! :rotfl2:
