12/29/07 Western - New Year's Eve

Yes, i can't believe this cruise is coming up so fast!!Whoohoo!!

I went and booked a second DCL cruise for next year, The sept. 2008 Double Dip, for me and my dd (with my inlaws) and i am trying to keep that a secret from her til the night before we leave.. I figured i will tell her the night before - i will take her out to dinner with me and my dh, and tell her, so that she can say goodbye to my dh (he doesn't want to go, since we are also going to WDW in Nov. 2008),

But, i am so looking forward to this cruise as our first! However, i have a trip to "the world" coming up in three months first.. Staying at the Poly - lagoon view concierge!!!

We are doing the WB Panama Canal cruise, just DH and I this time with lots of fellows DISers. I really would like to do the Olympics in China next summer but the heat and humidty there are really turning me off.

Thanks for the link, Birkner. One of my friends has a 17 year old daughter that was recently diagnosed with that- so sad. Hopefully he will be feeling well enough to go on the cruise.

Caitsmama- My youngest son will just have turned 7, so they should be in the same group. Our friends daughter will be 5, so she should be in the group with them, too! Can't wait!!!

I know that lupus nephritis is a more common disease in women than man so it took longer to diagnose my DD's DH. I hope he will be well enough also but only time will tell.

I know my GK's are really looking forward to the clubs especially Aspen as she will old enough for the Stack!!

One of my favorite memories from our first Disney Cruise was on Sunday afternoon, when my daughter (then almost 4) pointed her finger at me and my wife and told us she was going to the kid's club and that we should go to the adult's club (which we did). Getting over the parent guilt because your child always wants to be in the kid's club is sometimes the hardest part of the cruise. Vodka martinis in Diversions helped that day.

Great idea!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Received our "planning kit" from DCL yesterday in the mail - good thing Mike brought in the mail so Melissa didn't see it :thumbsup2

The planning kit has info about everything you would need to know about shore excursions, on-board reservations for the spa and Palo, what to pack, dining, kids clubs, etc. It's some of the same stuff in the brochure basically, but for some reason, it's more exciting!!!

Ok question for all you.. when - what day are you booking palo? I am so afraid to miss a special night of dining.. (pirate night, formal etc..) or are you booking brunch?

Caitsmama: I saw your posting about the Key West trolley tour - I think we will probably do that one, too. A good way to see the place and we've never been there before.

:thumbsup2

Cool! LOL I don't know that DH and DD will want to do it, but i have decided i am well prepared to go it alone. Key West is probably the highlight of what i want to see (other than CC! LOL) And i want to see it all.. And take lots of pics.. So, i am sure DH and DD won't want to shop/take pics with me, and that is fine.. i will ship them off to the aquarium or something mabye.. LOL ;)

BTW-- Anyone know, do we have a "master list" of NYE cruisers? Maybe with their cabin numbers?? It would be nice to know exactly who is going and where they will be on the ship..
Also, is anyone planning on bringing a Fish Extender on the cruise? I had a friend make one, mainly for the Double Dip cruise next Sept.. but i am thinking if enough of us were bringing one, we could do a little card/gift swap.. I would organize it , just let me know if there is intrest..
:)
I will be back later and post the pic of the one i have.. gotta go to photobucket and get it.. BRB.

We're probably doing the trolley tour, too. We're very excited about Key West, since we've never been there either.

Ok, here is a pic of my Fish Extender..
For those that don't know what a FE is, it hangs off the little fish that has your cabin number on it, and usally (from what i am told) other DIS'ers will leave you notes and gifts.. I am hosting a FE swap on our second cruise (next Sept.) It just sounds fun!!

Also, i would love to see some signs that you are planning on bringing for our doors.. i will post some as i do them too!

I have a feeling as this is getting closer i will be here alot! LOL

But, remember, i think it is cheaper to do the trolley tour on your own vs thru DCL, and i found their website today, and their prices are a bit cheaper.. and you can buy a tix online, and then begin your tour anywhere on their route.. they also have a nice detailed map of their stops on their site..

Way too many posts to read ;0 but just wanted to let folks know that another couple of DISers will be on that cruise as well...myself and DH, with my DSIL and DBIL as well as their two kids age 8 and 10....

Looking forward to it...I hear there are some 'surprises' on the New Year's cruises, can't wait to find out what they are ;)
