12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Seriously?!?!?! :cool1: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: That is friggin' AWESOME!!!

I thought it was gonna be a little warmer. Oh right. I was looking at averages for this time of year since they don't have that forecast for beyond 10 days. It is normally in the low 80's for the high and 60's for the low. That is soooo much better than the current high 50's low 30's we have right now. And this is TEXAS!!!

We are still doing the FE. Room number 7543. DD 16 DS 11.

Did you see the pics on the news where it was SNOWING in Houston?:scared1: Big fat fluffy snowflakes! I'm so jealous.:rotfl2: Alll we ever get here is flipp'n ICE!

Well, I'm making progress. I have chosen which swim suit looks the least horrible on me,and sorted my outfits and shoes. All I need to do is get them in the suitcases. Whenever my DH can move out of his chair liong enough to get them out of the attic:happytv:

Since it has rained buckets here in the past two days and they predict snow and ice tonight, I thought I would see what the weather has been in Nassau. According to weather.com, the temp is to be in the high seventies for the next 10 days with sunny weather. That is such a nice thought:cheer2: :yay:

I am envious of all who have started packing. I've barely begun thinking about what to take. We did nail down our airport parking and how to get to and from the port yesterday so we are making progress:cool1:

Could we get a final count of who is doing the fish extenders, children's ages and room numbers? I don't want to leave anybody out and I will take responsibility for publishing a master list.

Thanks.

We are participating:goodvibes

YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!:rolleyes1

Dh (Tim) was in the bank to take out some US cash for the holiday and the bank was robbed while he was waiting in line:eek: :scared1:

Fortunately he is ok and had to give his name and phone number as a witness!!!

WE still have no US cash however as they would not give Tim any money due to the current situation lol:happytv: He is going to another branch after work:sad2:

OMG Annette! How scary for him. Thank goodness he,and no one else, was hurt. Hope they catch the robbers soon.

Hello friends! Wow, what a week! 2 down (almost), one more to go. Yes, the teachers DO count down the days as much as the kids do! I am up to MY hoohaw in 2nd grader-made calendars we are producing for Christmas (I mean "Holiday") gifts - 12 pages of poems, artwork, and creative writing projects that have almost put me in an early grave. But they are SO cute, and SO fun to look at (I would tell you how one of my angels spelled "vacation" but I would get banned from the boards!:rotfl2: ).

I survived last weekend's candy-making fest (WHY oh WHY is it that if you melt chocolate circles and mold them into cute shapes everyone thinks they TASTE fabulous? I should just throw the little candy melts on the table next year and save myself some brain cells!) This weekend my parents come in to watch our little ballerina perform her first death scene. She won the highly coveted role of the"dead mouse" in the local production of the Nutcracker. In the battle scene with the toy soldiers, the music pauses, a shot rings out and my little mouse falls to the ground in a dramatic moment rivaled only by the appearance of the Sugar Plum Fairy in Act 2. Of course, she miraculously revives offstage to return to the choreographed battle. This is so far one of the highlights of her life!

So enough about my crazy life - 12 more days till we are on the WONDER!

No packing for me, yet. We are going to get through our ballet performances this weekend, and then Sunday night we will start that mess. Notice the "we" - I AM feeling optimistic, aren't I? :lmao: I do have a list - that's something, right? ANd my luggage is in the playroom, but that's only because we left it out after TG. My parents are coming this weekend, so after they leave I can start laying out our clothes on the guest bed. I know they say pack half of what you think, but I always get stuck with the wrong stuff when I do that! I ALWAYS do laundry at the resorts (DVC has washers in the room), but I'd rather not waste cruise time washing clothes - esp. for 4 DAYS! We'll be at Vero Beach before the cruise, so I will wash before we drive to PC. This is sick - I shouldn't be planning my chores for my vacation!!:sad2:

Thanks for the info, Brenda - so y'all don't do the "dress-up" thing? I tried looking that stuff up on the regular cruise boards, but people are REALLY opinionated about that! I don't care if other people do/don't dress up, I just want to be comfortable and not look out of place! Dh and Ds just don't have much in the way of "formal" clothes - church is very casual, so they wear jeans all the time. I don't really want to spend MORE $$$ to dress them up and make them feel miserable!

I am blathering now, so I am going to say good night, and maybe I will pop in tomorrow!!

Annette - glad your DH is safe and sound. That is really scary!!

Shari

Have a great Friday, everyone! One more week!!

The thought of AA using all the terminals at DFW is a little scary as we don't know our way around. What time is your flight? I know you told me once. but you know me.. I do think it was after ours though.

I can't remember right off, but I think around 9:30. Ish. I'm too cold to come out from under my down blanket to go check right now!! Just check your terminal ahead of time, follow the signs, and you'll be fine. I'm a total nincompoop when it comes to driving in Dallas. I can get SO turned around (which is why we got the GPS in my car), but I have made it to the right gate with no problems and just a little bit of yelling (BE QUIET, I'M TRYING TO THINK!!) every time. I hate going by myself, but I will have to this time. I am glad Tom is driving though - means I can pack more and send it with him!! Let me know what terminal and we will at least watch for y'all! We are flying AA also, so may not be far. ALso, look for the self-check kiosks. They are super-easy and fast!

Annette, sorry about United. We flew with them last year, and they were not great. I won't say "never again" because they are cheap, but they were not easy to work with!

Happy Sweet 16 to Victoria!!:cheer2:

Hooray for the Gangway, Hooray for the Gorgeous Weather, and Hooray for 12 more days till Cruise!

Nope...don't watch the news. Too depressing. SNOWING in Houston????!!! I am from there and lived there for 13 years and I never saw snow. We got big fat fluffy snowflakes here during Thanksgiving last year. The beginning of the year it snowed 4 times before March. That's quite an accomplishment for us. We get plenty of ICE though.

Well DH got the baggage down. I finished off some magnets, just a few more to go. I have a list printed out and need to make a small one for the kids so they can do their own. I will probably go over DS's packing but DD is probably on her own. I told the kids we are leaving Florida to come home on the 24th but we may be stopping and visiting family we haven't seen and won't be home till the 29th. :rotfl2: :lmao: Gotta figure out a way to have them bring enough clothes, right? I really don't want to do laundry. Besides, I don't think our studio will have a washer/dryer. Shari, I am jealous of your Vero Beach stay. I plan on doing that for a couple of days on our next trip. :thumbsup2 Where are you staying on your first leg of the trip??

Annette, I am so glad Tim is alright. I would've had to change my drawers. :sad2:

Well gotta go finish getting ready for work. Another long day/night today and Victoria's party and our department party tomorrow. I won't stay long or close down the bars tomorrow. Can't spend Sunday recuperating. Gotta pack!!! ;) :goodvibes

Hooray for the Gangway, Hooray for the Gorgeous Weather, and Hooray for 12 more days till Cruise!

Our flight is scheduled for 7:45. We plan on getting to the terminal at the ungodly hour of 4:30 am just in case there is a gate change and/or security is backed up. I'm gonna have some very unhappy teenagers :sad2: They should be thankful. Our orginal flight was at 6:35 am.:rotfl2: But the airline discontinued that flight. I'll check in online at the 24 hr mark,so all we need to do is check our luggage and hit the security line. Do the terminal and gate assingments come out at check in , or is it listed on the airport website? I think we will walk over and find the terminal after we have checked into the Hyatt.

Well, the luggage is down. I have no more excuses to not begin packing. Other than whatever I pack now, will need to be ironed and repacked before we leave:lmao: :rolleyes1

Have a great day everyone!

Well the blizzard has officially hit and I couldn't be happier.:yay: .......makes next week all that much sweeter:yay: :yay: :yay: :rotfl2:

A friend of mine leaves today for their Disney Cruise. I'll let you know what they say about the weather etc.

Hi Andy! Long time no see:surfweb: Glad you stopped in. Been wondering where you were while the rest of us go looney trying to get ready to go. Hope your friends have a great cruise. Will be looking forward to hearing what they have to say.:thumbsup2

Well the blizzard has ended.:thumbsup2 Current temps are -23c with the windchill it is -36c:eek: :scared:

Yup a little chilly all right. No excuse to not finish cleaning the house and pack now:happytv:

5 more days and all this cold will be a memory:love: :santa:

We're also waiting on an email confirmation from Happy Limo after 8 days and 2 phone calls. We're worried that something's up. They just keep telling us they sent it, like it will take awhile to come through email. Come on....

That just reminded me to call them ah-gain. She verified my email address and said she'd send me ANOTHER email. As if I am lying about not receiving the others. Very frustrating, but my chances of booking another Towncar service for Christmas Eve are probably slim.

Welcome to the thread, Sgt. Sparrow.
