12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

i have read SEVERAL trip reports of people that brought alcohol on board in their carry on.

Amen to that, Adrianna! This is why we joined DVC! The last non-DVC trip we took, we got adjoining rooms at POR and knew we could never go back! OUr kids are older than yours, so we can do that. Otherwise we would be in the suite if at all possible. Of course, with 3 kids we try to get as much room as possible everywhere we go! We love having our own room! And we do have two veranda rooms on the cruise!

Is anyone doing magnets? I know Andy asked about them recently too. I have been collecting some graphics on other boards, but have not started printing magnets yet. I love your graphic, Annette - too cute!

BTW, Annette - do you have any idea how many are doing the FE's? I'm starting to try to come up with some cute ideas for that, but I need to know how far to stretch my budget. My kids are the perfect ages to get into that! I guess I should start working on making mine. One more thing to add to the list!

Y'all may have already covered this in the 60 or so pages before I joined (I DID read it, but can't remember where I read what), but what are you all doing about Christmas with the kids? And Santa?

Last year we did DW for Christmas.:cloud9: We were flying, and space was somewhat limited (esp. since we knew we would be bringing more stuff home) so we did our family Christmas the night before we left, right after we told the kids we were going (the hardest secret I have ever kept...for 11 months!). They loved opening presents early, esp. since some were video games they could play on the plane, etc. Santa came to DW (yes, we packed the stockings) and brought Disney gift cards for the kids' spending fun. That was a huge hit - girls got My Disney Dolls and DS got Legos, of course. Two birds with one stone!;)

Anyway, I am wondering if we should do the same thing, or change it up a bit this time. Anyone have fabulous plans or ideas for Christmas? And yes, Santa still really comes to our house!:thumbsup2

Thanks, y'all!
Shari

P.S. Brenda...if you haven't received the planner from me soon, it's ok to remind me. I can be an airhead, esp. when it comes to mail!

It looks approx a dozen (FE people) give or take one or two. if it goes over 12 I will post it. Dh has the sheet on his laptop at work.:goodvibes

So I cant do the spa part of the package or at least so says my transplant docs. He also said to stay away from the hot tubs. :headache: :sad2:

So if I was to book the REAS package, what do you think the odds are that they would let me sub something for the rainforest spa passes? I could probably muster up a note from my doc...

Good question phone DCL and ask them. BTW the 105 day booking window for the REAS/Suites is at midnight tonight.:yay: I can start booking at 10:00pm our time as we also bought the REAS package. Our are pretty straighforward and minimal as we won't be booking too much.:goodvibes

WOW! Way to go! Still think we are driving though.

Here's a couple of silly questions:

I thought I read somewhere that you can't take food/drinks/alcohol on board. Is this true?

Also, if you have booked a Disney excursion that normally meets at 9 am but the ship traditionally has a port time as 945 am can you not do that excursion? Doesn't make sense to offer it if you can't even attend.

Yes you can bring drinks / alcohol on board but you MUST carry it on. They do not want liquids in you luggage. Be aware, the container must be able to fit through an airport like scanner for security before check-in.

The times for meeting for a Disney excursion are the times you meet your group to get organized. Then you all walk off the ship together once it has been cleared. So, don't worry.

They will let you take packaged food, and soda/bottled water onboard. They won't allow you to take alcohol onboard though.
If you book an excursion through DCL, the excursion will wait on you. The vendors may have a 9:00 time listed for other ships which dock sooner, in which case you will just choose a later time.
Which excursion are you looking at Courtney?

You need to read the fine print.....there is a difference between alcohol and wine. I believe you can not bring alcohol (rum, vodka, etc), but they state you can bring wine.

I know wine works, unless they changed the rules, because I'm the guy that brought on 26 bottles for the first 10 day cruise. I had a private label made and shared it would our DIS family.

The rain forest is not a hot tub. There are some steam rooms, some hot and some just warm. There are heated benches and some special showers, but no hot tubs.

It is my favorite place on the ship. You will see me in there with a glass of wine and a book. Sometimes I'll even be awake.

You can. The Mom's carried on two large rolling bags with wine, soda, & water in mid-August of this year.

Scuba Mom, get it right.

The question was about alcohol and you answered with wine. I just pointed out there is a difference. Remember, alcohol almost got me kicked out of the Hercules show where wine does not do that.

I have heard of some people taking water bottles, emptying them and refilling them with....something clear. Or Yoohoo bottles emptied and filled with Bailey's. All from your lovely cruise critic board.

As for the excursion, I was looking at the carribbean queen snorkel and the catamaran snorkel in nassau. I think the catamaran one says they normally start at 9. Saw it in Passporter.

Steam rooms, as my doctor says, are breeding grounds for bacteria and diseases. I cant do them either.

Got our shore excursions and Palo reservations made:yay: Here is what we got

Palo Brunch 10:30 on sea day
Garden and City tour in Nassau
Parasailing for DD and me in CC
Bottom fishing for DS and DH in CC
Also reserved the lagoon snorkle equipment for CC

The DCL site let me make the reservations without charging our credit card. I thought we had to pay when we booked, but it says our onboard account will be charged.

I tried filling out our online check in,but need our passport ID numbers. Gonna have to get them from our safe deposit box. I knew I should have written those down.:lmao:

Annette, what did you get? I didn't log on at midnight. I thought about it....but it was a fleeting thought. I was just to comfy to get out of bed.:rotfl2:

Can you do a couples choice treatment? No hot tubs or steam rooms involved. Just body wraps and massage. DH and I are considering the hot stone aroma therapy massage. I would call DCL or your TA and ask them. I'm sure with a medical form submitted from your drs. they will work with you. Good luck, pixiedust: and let us know what they say.

Well it was interesting to say the least. I stayed up till 12:00 east but 10:00 my time and I logged in and guess what happened???? It said I couldn't book because by cruise was not paid for WTH????:confused3 Our cruise was booked on points. I went to bed:headache:

I got up at 6:00am our time as I have to get up with the older two and logged in again and this time it was good to go:confused3 :rotfl: :confused3

I got everything I wanted.

-Aquaventure on Christmas day
-Palo Brunch (sea day) 12:00 ( we like to book later due to the time difference, that is why we chose second dinner seating also)
-Exotic Rasul ;) (Sea Day)
-Palo Dinner (sea day, 9:00pm light dinner with kids and then go/we may also cancel if the menu is too garlicky for me)

Tube and snorkel equipment for CC. That is basically all we wanted:goodvibes

I thought about a later time for brunch. I know we are going to be wiped out from our four days at WDW,but Dale is an early bird so I took pity on him. :rolleyes1

Glad you got everything you wanted in spite of the glitch last night.:thumbsup2

Glad you got what you wanted. Where's the spa villa? Or the couples massage? I may be rethinking the parasailing since DD doesn't even want to get close. Besides, we have other things that we want to be sure and do. DH's business has been down so I may have to cut back :sad1:

:rotfl: Us too. Then again, we stay weekends:scared1: , holidays:eek: , and aren't you using points for your cruise? Careful, Courtney, the DVC police might come take away your points. Wait a minute, those are YOUR points! :lmao:

I did mention, didn't I, that since we joined in February that I have 2007, 2008, and Developer points that I used? :thumbsup2 I had quite a few. This was an opportunity that I knew I wouldn't get again. Especially with having to use those developer points within a year if I remember correctly. I think I used a few 09 points as well since I knew we most likely wouldn't be going back to Disney between December 2008 and September 2009.
