we reserved flights arriving MCO @1 p.m. Sat, 12/18...and departing 12/25 2 p.m. It breaks down to 6 1/2 park days, and I am used to 7 or more (spoiled, I know:p ) Anyway, with the holiday crowds, I am wondering if this is worth the $$$$. MIL is insisting we are back by 5 p.m. on Xmas day and that is really killing me as there is a 5 pm or 8 p.m. flight that would essentially give us another park day, and actually get to enjoy Christmas instead of traveling right smack in the middle of the day. I mean, it's a Saturday...they can't celebrate a little longer into the night? We have been to WDW B4 so my main concerns are MK and MGM crowd wise. What would you do?

I'd tell MIL to put a sock in it and stay later :teeth: Seriously though, who wants to spend Xmas day basically travelling. I'd want to get some celebrating out of it. I would probably avoid MK on Christmas Day. I'd probably do Epcot because it's big enough to really diffuse the crowds. But to answer your original question, I don't ever think going to Disney is a waste of money, so even if you have to go with the current plan you should still go.

I would LOVE ot express my opinion of the exact time we are being told to be in attendance...but am trying to keep in mind it is important to MIL...just wish she'd be a BIT more flexible...I may go out 1 or 2 days ahead of DH with the kids and squeak another day in the beginning. It would be fun to do MVMCP on the 17th, we have never been to one and DH is not into it that much so since he can't travel 'till the 18th ANYWAY, and it's HIS mom....but travel with 2 kids and double the airport transfers and another hotel night....however, I am being pulled in that direction! I am going crazy with all this ...and spending our nice summer days inside on the computer! I need a laptop!

I like the alternate plan; leave early with the DKs and enjoy the week! We scheduled our next WDW trip to start on 12/26, but, we miss MVMCP :( .

I would hate to have to travel on Christmas Day! We are arriving on the 17th and leaving on the 27th. We will also be doing MVMCP on the 17th. If nothing else, I would try to go down a little earlier than the group.

Sounds like you've been before. I personally don't think you are cutting it too short. It sort of reminds me of a time that we were very strapped for cash. We could spend $800 on a Disney trip. Of course that seems like not "enough" money to have a fun trip, but we had a BLAST! For me, it was hard knowing what all we were missing but when I stopped thinking about what we were missing and started thinking about the fun we could enjoy, it was wonderful! Its really the perspective. I wouldn't mind traveling on Cmas, either. We just tell ourselves we celebrated early.

This Oct we are going for a "short" trip (6 days). We know we can't do it ALL, but we are going to hit the highlights and just do what we can. Life's full of tough choices, idn't it? -Ursala:teeth:
