Boy, I think I missed a lot coming to this board late....

We are going to London next week (Harry Potter VI here we come!). I feel bad for them there but am really glad we weren't there when it happened!

And a week ago we were in our cat 3 on the Wonder. That makes me sad, wish I was still there.....

:cat:

We are doing a Fantasy Five.....five people (all men for us gals!) that we would want to have with us if we were stuck on a deserted island....

Good luck in London...I'm sure it will be one of the safest places to be...NOW.
So sad....

Which Cat 3 were you in? I'm trying to get an idea of what each one of them is like.

We were in 8062. It is handicapped accessible, at the very back of the ship. We had a great view of Castaway Cay from our huge verandah on Saturday morning. I have some pics I can email if you want. It only sleeps four (no pull down bed for a fifth in the ones at the aft of the ship) but it was sweet.

Hmmm....fantasy five.... Johnny Depp for sure, Liam Neeson ..... not sure who else.

Yeah, I have had folks ask if we are really still going to London next week. Of course we are. I expect airport security will be a lot tighter but that is ok with me if it makes it safer to be there.

Does anyone know what excursion will be offered on the 10 day? I can find them for St Thomas but nothing for Antigua or St. Lucia.

Kat

8602, maybe? That's the one we had for the 10 night, on the Magic. My 11 & 14 yr olds wouldn't share the couch bed, so my son slept on the floor...but it was worth it to have that verandah!!
Doesn't DCL's site have the shore excursions for those ports listed?? They should, unless it's too far away. I don't think I have a copy of them anymore. I'll look.

Hi gaRry!

OHHHHHH you too j E n

8602 was it. Last June we were in 6607 on the Magic. We actually did ok with the cat 11 for the 3 of us, even on the 7 day because we didn't spend much time in there. We are getting a cat 8 for next Christmas. I am gong to bring some lights and window clings, maybe an ornament or two. My DH will think I am nuts but I want to decorate since we will be there for Christmas day.

The veranday on 8602 was great, but it stayed wet most of the time. It rained Thursday evening and Friday morning there was still about a half inch of water on the surface! And the bathroom off the bedroom drive me nuts. Every time we used the shower it just soaked the whole room! But Mom is in a wheelchair so we did make good use of those facilities in there.

I think they have excursion for Key West, St Thomas and maybe St Maarten listed because they are stops on existing cruises but they don't list them for Antigua or St Lucia. I want to see the volcano on St Lucia. We went to Key West on the Western 7 day last year but we will go again...neat little stores.

Hope everyone's weekend has been good so far....

Jay & I renewed our wedding vows at Christmastime in Key West, so I'm anxious to go again and actually SEE the town!
And we all decorated our rooms....gaRry even had lights on his verandah!
Arizona is no fun at Christmastime, so being on the ship was a dream come true. Not that the Caribbean is "Christmas-y"...but the decorations around the ship, and the music....wonderful!

I wasn't going to ask if you had that same trouble in the shower! We quit using it and shared with the kids. We ended up just using the Master shower to dry our snorkel gear!

I'm not the one to give advice on shore excursions...since about all we do is snorkel, my face is always in the water. gaRry told me one time to "go soak my head" and I've been doing just that!! ;) LOL

Hey Stacey, I don't go to the cruise board much. Just had to go and read the 'live' 7/7 post. Some people just don't get it! You can bet I will ask if Jeanne can blow/push whatever, after all she will be 87.;)

Sue

We didn't do any excursions on Key West last year. I found a list of stores by searching on the internet. We went to the Key West Winery. They make an awesome key lime wine and another one the is orange with a little bit of chocolate. DH did a snorkeling excursion on Cozumel and I bet he'll want to do one or two on the 10 day. But there may be some excursions on the other islands we want to do just so we can see some things that we wouldn't see on our own.

I don't think I'd go so far as to bring a tree with me. We will already be stretching the limits of the luggage to pack as it is! I ended up doing laundry twice on the 7 day last year so I expect I will be doing a lot of laundry on a 10 day.I found the greatest laundry tablets, though. They take up less space than laundry soap and do a great job. And those Shout stain wipes are a life safer for getting out spots that might not come out otherwise. Pack a few quarter rolls, some dryer sheets and I will be set for that.

So how does it work around here? Will anyone be trying to get tables together for dinner as we get closer to the cruise? On our first cruise our tablemates almost never ate in the dining room, or the came really late so we never saw them. And last week our tablemates switched to another table so they moved us to our own table for four. I'd love to be able to sit with folks that we could actually hold conversations with (since we really haven't done much on previous cruises). Last year we tried to have a DIS meet but since it rained during the Sail Away (which was when we were supposed to meet) we never did get to meet :( .

gaRry, how did the horses go this weekend? My DD would love to be able to do that. She is looking forward to next year when she will be old enough to ride at the YMCA camp. She will be 9 next month so will be 10 when we do the holiday cruise.

Does anyone else on this board have a DD around 8 or 9 years old? I know Samantha would love to have a friend when we sail. She made a friend last year on the 7 day but didn't get her address. She still talks about her!

Well, I need to get off this board and go do things like laundry. Ugh, I hate chores! And I am already addicted to this board. It is still way too long :hourglass before this cruise and it is already almost all I can think about! Sad, aren't I? :jumping1:

Kat

HI Everyone. Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Denise..love your "Island Game". Since you have given up James Taylor, I'd like him to swim on over to my island.

My list would go like this:

Edward Norton
James Taylor
Robert DeNiro (Godfather Days) Does someone have him already???
Gregory Peck (I just love his voice, could listen to it all day)
James Gandolfini (I know, sick chick. I think it's an Italian thing)

On a more serious note....I will definately send pixie dust your way gaRry. Good Luck :grouphug:

Kat, my DD, Julia is 9 years old. She is pretty easy going. She found a friend on the last cruise and since they had an extra seat at thier table, she never had dinner us.

What are the name of your "laundry tablets"? I have looked for about two years and have not been able to find tablets in my area anymore. Maybe if I have a brand name I can find them on-line.

On the last cruise I "linked" a bunch of late seating DIS People together and would certainly be willing to do it again. The way it works is you give DCL (or travel agent) a main DCL Ressie number and then all the ressie numbers you wish to "link" together. They will try to seat everyone in the same area but there are no guarantees. I think last time there was one person in charge of late and one in charge of early. I would wait until it got closer to the sail date since alot of people cancel or change seating and it just creates confusion and mess-ups on DCL's end. I think you can arrange it up until five days before the sail date, not that I would cut it that close.

Well, it was in the 60's here for the last four days and now today it will be 90...gotta luv New England. I'm not complaining. Look at those poor people in FL and LA. Too early for this Hurricane stuff. Saying a prayer and sending pixie dust for them.

I just cruised the latest formal vs non-formal wear thread. What a hoot. Last year on the 7 day my DH wore a dark suit with a tie and looked spiffy. I think I have talked him into renting a tux for the Christmas cruise (though he did say he doesn't want to constantly hear about the cruise for the next year and a half! what a spoilsport!). I don't look good in formal gowns but I will try to find something sprakly for Christmas dinner. Does anyone know if they do more than one formal night on the 10 day?

Mary Ann, Purex Tabs are what I found last year before our 7 day. I still have lots left. If you can't find them let me know. I can get them around here but will likely have a ton left since I only have them for travel and won't likely use them all before the cruise. By the way, where in New England do you live? And what grade will your dd be in this fall? Samantha is an August baby so she will only be in 3rd grade.

It has been warm here in Indiana but not overly humid this last week. Today looks to be pretty warm. Thank god for central air!

Kat

Kat - I only remember 2 formal nites on the 10 night holiday. My Mom looks lovely in an evening gown but I wear glitter tops with dress pants (no panty hose for me).

Sue

Guess who found a computer? yup! its me! Hi everybody. Its mega hot here in DC. Went to the Holocaust Museum and Arlington Cemetary already. Fun stuff. well, i got to go to another lecture. Will write when i have more time. Bye all.

Sue... Yeah, I wore black velvet pants, strappy high heel sandals, a lovely black crochet tank style top that has satin in front under the crochet and a lovely sheer black jacket with a gorgeous tiger on the back that DH got me for my birthday last year. I think it looks really nice and better than a gown would. I have a nice skirt outfit that I found yesterday that will be good for a semi-formal night.

Does anybody have copies of the navigators for the 10 day or know where they might be posted? I would like to get some idea of activities, etc. My DH thinks I am nuts thinking about this already! Heck, I am already trying to figure out what to pack!! Yes, I am bad like that. But I enjoy it so what the heck and I will try not to bother him with it for the next however many days it is (I need a counter...)

Kat

Kat - I think Jen has copies of the Navigators. Hi, Jen! I may have kept some but it will take me a few days to go thru the cruise stuff. I used to have folder for Navigators or the Compass(RCI) but I have gotten lazy. Of course I am still in the 20th century and don't have a scanner. Some of my most memorable moments, other than meeting the SUPER Dis members, full moon on the sea, fireworks at sea, and the sunrise behind the St Lucia mountains.

Thanks for the name on the laundry tabs. Tide used to sell them but stopped. Don't understand why. They were SOOOOO convenient and easy to pack.

I live in Marlborough, MA. It is about 17 miles West of Boston. Julia will be 10 in October. Our cut off is Aug 31st so she started late too. She is going into fourth grade. New school this year which she was very excited about until she went to visit the new school for a day and someone stole her ball at recess and her own cousin snubbed her in the hallway because she was a lowly third grader. Now she is a bit more apprehensive about the change. Ahhhh, Girls!!!!

No problem Mary Ann. I love the laundry tablets. They are indeed convenient and take up very little space in the luggage. No broken bags or boxes to worry about either!

Samantha goes to a new school this fall too. They do K-2 in one school, 3-5 in another, 6-8 in the middle school and 9-12 in the high school. Crazy, but that's how it is. Sam and her cousin are in the same grade even though her cousin is 10 months younger. They had the same teacher last year, that was pretty crazy. Hopefully the will be in different classes this year but they won't find out who their teachers are for another month yet.

I asked where in Massachusetts because I grew up in western Mass, near Springfield.

So much to do.... need to finish laundry, shopping and cleaning. The I have to pack. We leave for London on Thursday and I want to make sure I have everything I need without overpacking or bringing anything they might consider suspicious. I feel so bad for the people involved in those attacks last week.
