Hey Kat...if you haven't heard yet...they're going to air a preview for the new Pirates movie during the superbowl! Holly just told me last night...thought I'd share that info with you!
Hmmmm, sounds cool. Presents a problem, though. Last week I found that while I was sitting and watching the game the Colts were down. When I went and did something else (like surf the boards) they scored. I would go back in and watch a bit and the Pats scored, so I'd leave and the Colts would score again. So I feel like maybe I shouldn't watch the game if I want the Colts to win! Aargh. I know, it's silly and my watching the game had nothing to do with the way the scores were going, but the coincidence was just too weird.

Hi everyone...
Well looks like I am going to have another Teen in my house. My sister called and begged me to take her daughter who is haveing some school and boy issues soooooo she will be here Sat night and placing here into school on Monday.
She is a nice kid but lives in an are in the boonies and she is 15 running around with 20+ year old guys and having sex with them. Also on her 2nd year of 9th grade an failing it all over again.
She wants to get her away from the bad influences...told her that that is fine but in 5 months when she goes back she will be right back where she started. My sister is not as much as a check in mom as I am so there is no stability in her home. Sister is a paramedic and works 24 on and 24 off and girls are there by them selves and do what they want.
She is a nice girl and comes out with us for the summer so she is use to it with us to a point...
So this is how it is...Me Menopause, Branden Puberty 13, and Morgan 15 and cant keep her legs closed...should be fun dont ya think????
Sounds worth staying on this thread just to here how this all goes....
Well of to the Highschhol to meet with the Primciple and 10th grade councler. Everything has been faxed to her school from yeaterday to today ....
it will be worth all the reading....

Oh boy, Robin. Sounds like there's going to be a regular party going on at your house. Definately keep us posted on the goings on. This could be better than Deperate Housewives
Seriously, you are a very good person to take this on. Hopefully some of your good nature will rub off onto her and she is strong enough to turn it around. I know there is no way in hell I would want to do the teen-age years over again, especially in this day and age. I don't know if you guys heard about the stabbing, that left a 16 yr old boy dead, in a HS in Mass last week. That happened the next town over from me. The school it happened in is on of the best schools (test score wise) in one of the most affluent towns in the state. Increasingly, it seems that kids don't understand the simple concept of consequences for their actions.....very scary.

Did not hear about that...it's so hard to send your kids to school theses days, it just takes a few bad students to make the whole school scarry!!!
I nor only feel sorry for the students thses days but also the parents that have the everydauy stress of wondering what the heck is really going on behind closed doors...
My friend told me that there is a new girls club for the real populare girls at Middle school and one of the requirements to get into this club is to cut yourself and than she tells me that one of our friends daughters is in this club and cut herself 3 times...
I thought OMG, that is shrink(psychiatrist) time to me!!!! Her son has also always had tons of problems in school. Something is going on behind closed doors in that house for sure.
Im so glad to be involved in school because could not imagine not knowing about this stuff ....I only can imagine the parents that have no clue....

Oh Robin...good luck with what you're taking on! My parents did the same thing with a relative when I was a teenager...not really sure what his issues were, and don't know if we helped--they didn't share that stuff with us! I will say that while he didn't have an effect on me, he did lead my brother astray a little bit. I'm sure you won't have to worry about that, I think it was more that my brother saw this older boy as a "role model." (Not a good thing.)
Sometimes I think the kids from "good neighborhoods" have as many problems as those that grow up in poverty. You can't always blame the parents, but lots of times you can! We have just watched these kids that used to come over here every day when they were in first and second grade because their mom couldn't figure out how to get home so they weren't locked out of the house turn into juvenile delinquents. I've watched parents be told that an adult witnessed their children do something wrong say "my child is an angel and would never lie to me" and "my child is in middle school, he's outgrown all of that kind of stuff." Are you kidding?
And I just thought of this, both of those families are now in a dispute because while one family was away some kids went into their house, had a party and did some damage. Of course, there are two stories. One version is that the resident 17 year old drug user's friends were told how/when to get in, and when the party went bad they blamed it on the 15 year old kid up the street because he was in enough trouble that people would believe it. Other story is that trouble maker 15 somehow broke into house, had a party and invited 17 year old residents' drug dealing friend to attend. When drug dealing friend learned whose house it was he reported 15 year old. All I know is that I was on a cruise at the time and dont' know a thing
And since all of said kids have spent regular time here when they were younger, I'm glad we (and our kids) realized the way things were headed and managed to slide away from that crowd!
