Hi Everyone!

This weekend I got myself:
  1. A haircut
  2. A stomach bug
Well, at least I look human now with the new haircut, and the stomach thing seems to have run its course, though my stomach still feels slightly off...good thing it's going away, though, because we're leaving next Sunday!

I swear I'm going to unpack everything and repack...I don't remember what I packed! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sorry to here that you were sick!!! are you feeling better???
Also as you mentioned...the flu shot does only protect against the Respitory part of the flu....not the nausea part....:thumbsup2

Sorry you got sick...hope you feel better before the trip (for SO many reasons.... ;) )

I know what you mean about the packing thing...that would so be me! I'm starting to lay out the things I've collected and start figuring out what I need. I've been picking up spare shorts and stuff for the boys, set aside our pirate stuff, accumulated a little door decor....but do I have enough? So much to figure out!

OK, back to the Christmas cards (these are for our non-cruise friends.)

Yeah, I have already unpacked and repacked once. I made a list of all that I have packed and even kept track of what was in what suitcase in case one goes missing or something from inside turns up missing! Can you say insane??? Yes, that is me...too darned organized for my own good!

I stopped home at lunch, no docs yet but UPS always comes very late for us. I swear, we must be at the end of the route.

I don't want to get sick on this cruise... now I'm going crazy. Any ideas to prevent this norwalk virus? Does yogurt really help?? I don't really like it but will try it if it helps.

My DH started packing Sunday - not me. I usually have packed and unpacked and packed again by this point.

Oh, well.

Your DH sounds very different than mine. He wouldn't start packing until the day before...except I'm gonna make him! :smokin: He's out of town now (out in Southern Cal working on Robin's COX again) but by the weekend I want him to start thinking about it so that if he needs anything I can get it next week...

Isn't that fair? ::yes:: Yes, I thought so! ;)

i suppose maybe i should start gathering stuff from my dorm room and throwing it in the suitcase i brought back with me....

I never said that. I said the flu shots protect against the particular virus of the year that causes respiratory flu (symptoms: sneezing, coughing, muscle aches, fever and chills). The flu shot does not protect against any stomach bugs.

Though I like MaryAnn's yogurt idea...

Glad you're feeling better, Dee. Maybe your GI bug will give you protection from any new one you may encounter in the next few weeks...

I went overboard at Bath and Bodyworks on their antibacterial hand products. I figure that if my kids love the lotion/gel they may be more likely to use it!

But, from what I've read about this virus on cruise ships, the infection may be more likely to come from a food handler than from your own hand.

Oh well, one more thing to worry about, I guess.

Yep, doing the Doc Dance

I just love seeing those little green tags with my stateroom number printed on them.

As far as the yogurt thing......I always do this before I travel anywhere on an airplane, not just cruising. I received this advice in 2002 from an ER Doc friend of mine and it made sense to me. 2002 was the year they cancelled a Magic Cruise to sanitize the ship just weeks before I was to sail, and boy was I in a total panic about it.

I have never got the stomach bug, but I did end up with the flu coming off the 2004 Holiday Cruise, so I guess you can take all precautions and still end up with the heebie-jeebies :goodvibes

Also, not to bring up more negative stuff, but just wanted to remind people that were interested in Medical Evacuation Insurance to sign up. The company is called MedJet and thier website has all the info right there. It is $175/family for a 14 day period. Heaven forbid something happen, but is nice to know I can get a private jet complete with medical staff to Mass General in Boston if I need it.

OK, just happy thoughts everyone :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Did you ever try to take yogurt and mix it with jello???? A trick I learned with weight Watchers. It tastes more like jello than yogurt.

If you're interested let me know and I'll tell you how.

We were on the Magic cruise that sailed just AFTER the one that was cancelled. Disney called and offered us a full refund plus 50% off another booking if we wanted to cancel, but we went anyway. No one got sick but they were being extra careful about everything -- on the buffet, you were served by a worker and couldn't serve yourself and had guys in bright yellow suits (which we called the "CDA" cleaning the pools every night. They also didn't have the refillable mugs (this was before the current free drink policy) and instead just put a sticker on your card if you bought the drink program and gave you drinks in regular cups. But we had fun anyway.

Here's to hoping mine are sitting at home in the rain after my DD's ortho appt!!!

Ours arrived in Chicagoland today!!

I do that too! :rotfl2:

I've been told you should always do that. Pack everything, then empty it out and repack only half of what you had originally packed. It helps you keep the stuff down to only the essential minimum. I do this on every big trip I take.

I keep reading about that problem on the trip reports. I think that is why I brought air freshener last time (I had read about the problem) but we never used it. Also, if your room smells like poop - what is air freshener going to do about it, really?

Maybe make it smell like someone crapped a Christmas tree?
