that's because a modem is for dial up and a router is for cable/dsl.... lol...they aren't desined to work together
Morning Everyone...
Well 85 degrees here again...but if it makes you feel any better our cold weather starts in Feb-April..Sunshine for ya all :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Jen,
I don't have dial up..I have cabel...and they have been working fine for 3 years...all my friends out here have a Router with there Modums and cabel...dont know if they are special Modums or not. :confused3 ..I have this comp, and my other Desk top-which I made wireless and my Lap top, also have our Xbox that we made wireless for playing online...that is why I got a Router..????TThink this Router if I remember right they asked me if I was on cabel or not...so must be made for that...also the cabel company supplys you with a modum...cant get on line without it..Have had a modum for years and years... :confused3

Getting closer to out trip...are we all getting more and more excited...I need a vacation...

I need to go turn on the Airconditioner...getting hot in here...brb if anyone is out htere in cyber space... :confused3

Well I am off to the pool to try and get off these last few pounds before the cruise. Is there anywhere to buy a case of water after arriving at the hotel within a reasonable distance? I wonder if staples delivers water to the hotel? Just also wondering how much of a hassle it will be hauling it around. Also if anyone else is shipping a box to the ship how early do you send it?

Another question, lost luggage - is it true that there is less of a chance of losing luggage if it is a direct flight?

Well it is going to be a wet wet wet day here.

Thanks Jen, they should. As I said, if I can make it through the next 4 weeks all should be well. It will be a mess until then, I fear, though. So I come in here and try to forget all about it by thinking about the cruise! :sunny: Sunshine and beaches and the ocean and pirates ... my Jack Sparrow lanyard pin I have been wanting came today!!! Hurray!!!

i think so...there is no second (or third for some) airport for luggage to get lost at during transfer

I suppose it depends on which hotel, Angela. I plan on trying to pick up a case on the way to port but we are renting a vehicle and driving to port. I will be rearranging luggage to try to fit the water in, I think! I am going to bring a small rolling suitcase that I plan to use for the water once we get it.

Morning all. Every day brings us a little closer, doesn't it?! Life has gotten to the point here where I need the cruise to be closer. I am just glad I made it through the weekend. I just hope that things go ok for the next 4 weeks and by December 1 there has been no bloodshed or arrests! If we can do that then I will be ok. :goodvibes Let's just say I have enough drama in my life right now that it makes reality shows look tame by comparison!
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: hope your day,week.month,year....gets brighter.... :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
Sorry that things suck..can I say that? :confused3
Think we are ALL ready one way or another for this cruise...I'm looking forward to having a break from my kids...and sure they from me...we have a happy family but always seems like there is termoil about something! Weather it has to be with the other comp not being able to be used because of this stuppid Modum or "Hay, I don't want that for dinner" after cooking all day!

Sometimes life just seems to get in the way! :goodvibes

I have decided that I am going to do what I always do...buy a few bottles of water on the ship and just refill them from the tap...the water has never been bad and it worked just fine...

We only carry the water around with us anyway when we go to ports..when hanging out on the ship I just go up to the bar or to the food corts and ask for a glass of Ice water and they will give it to you at no charge or tip...

If I keep going up to the same place like if I am at the pool than I wwill give then a buck or two..

yes maybe the computer info did just pass me by and i know i'm a computer geek lol....we always bring like one or two bottles..or just collect them when we buy them

I'll do what I always do in a strange country. Just drink beer.

Showing my geekiness, there's no need for a 'special' router once you go through the cable modem -- it's just an IP connection at that point. My first advice when having router problems with my cable connection is I shut off all the equipment, then bring it up in order. Shut everything off, then power on the cable modem, wait for all the blinking lights (technical term) to come all the way on, then do the same with the router, then the computer.

This has helped several times for me, particularly after there has been a cable outage or some other power issue. It's worth a try before you spend money on a technician. Unfortunately, most cable companies won't help you if you use a router unless it is one of theirs.

Much less so. I just had a bag 'lost' on my way to HK two weeks ago. I had a layover at LAX, and even though I had enough time to exit securty, recheck at the Cathay Pacific counter, pass through security, and spend an hour at the airport lounge, my bag decided to stay an extra two hours in LA. (Cathay Pacific put it on the next flight out instead of mine). Real hassle having to wait around the airport in HK for 3 hours for my bag to get there.

I always hope DCL pays attention to the "Bag X of X" tags. We're flying in night before, weather and American Airlines willing, so hopefully no worries for us.

i thought we were flying delta...but i know now that we are flying USairways i am slightly less worried

That's why I buy travel insurance! If my bags are delayed I can at least make sure I have clothes to wear, etc, even if they weren't what I had originally planned on wearing!

i would love to put a GPS chip in every bag so that if they don't arrive..i can give the exact location to the airlines lol...i am soooooo paranoid

Wouldn't we all??? :lmao: And they wonder why people like their carry-ons so much! We travelled to London last summer and managed to carry everything we needed for three days in carry-on bags! That's the way to go if you can!!!

i need to get the biggest carry on possible..i have to bring on board...

-Laptop + power cord
-Digital camera in waterproof case with underwater housing + battery chargers + accesories
-video camera + power cord + accesories
-ipod + accessories
-headphones (3 sets: 1 for plane, 1 for water, 1 for just around)
-power strip (there are never enough plugs in the room)
-books
-phone + charger

and that's just what i can think of off the top of my head
