Civil schools? The image of a bunch of kids being civil all the time pops into my head and then disappears immediately as an impossibility! :rotfl:

How are your kids today, Susan? And did you ever hear from the parents of the "brilliant" child?

oh that was a low blow...lol

My son turns 14 tomorrow :bday: and is in the 8th grade. My daughter is 16 and is a junior in high school.

Report cars come out in 2 weeks. If I was a betting person I would say 14 yr old B/C's. 16 year old 6 A's. We will see.

my sister is a sophmore in high school...she loves music(instrumental) and dance and singing. She is 15 (16 in april)

You didn't ask how old are my kids :rotfl2:

See I am a confused person... My students will be subdued - I am returning the test they took Tuesday. Better than I thought grade wise but they could have done much better. Don't you love it when they complain that they wanted an A but didn't bother to study. :lmao: I did have 34 B's out of 94 students.

No school tomorrow for students! It is a teacher work day. I'm going to have to break down and learn more about all this techno stuff they keep giving us. Everytime I think I got it and can use it they give me another gadget!

gadgets make life more fun! :)

Yeah, lunch time! Just ran to the post office to mail out some books I sold on half.com and something I sold on e-bay (more spending money for the cruise!), deposited a check in the bank, and went to the jewelry store to order a christmas present for DH. Got my errands done and still have 25 minutes of lunch left. Cool!

Morning all,
glad to here everyone is fine. I have an idea  Why dont we make a contest on getting the 10,000 post! like the person who gets it everyone needs to give them a small gift ,or $5.00 or something like that. I think a $$ gift would be nice, could be less than $5 but it could be used on the ship. I probubly wont win but it would be fun! What do you all think $5.00 won't kill anyone and sure lots could use that extra $$$ to play with. I'm in if anyone is interested in going in on it. popcorn::

Gadgets make my life better, that's for sure! I love my insulin pump!

And how did we ever live without cellphones???

I think there will be enough competition to get the 10,000 post without putting money into the mix :rotfl: ! We are all just that kind of people :).

OK - Safe and Civil are two different things! :rotfl2: :lmao: I managed my way on to the committee, administrators, teachers, staff, and me. I guess I had so many ideas the new principal thought "put her on the committee and shut her up". :lmao: :confused3 . . It definately helps to keep me in the "know" of what is going on at school. Ok have some work to do. :wave2:

LOL, Angela. You will definitely have to fill us in on the difference! And what they mean by civil. I can't imagine they mean getting all the students to act civil!! :lmao:

Cool that is what I feel the schools need...More involved Parents...amoung other things :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!

I agree, moms with ideas should get on the committees--I did it myself for years--nowadays, though, I'm about out of them! I've had kids in school since 1996. When my first two were in grade school, I was ALWAYS there! Kev came along when he wasn't doing Mom's morning out or something. The ladies in the office even nicknamed him "peanut" because that is what I would buy him from the vending machine if he was a good boy while I .........(fill in the blank!) I think I burned out, but stay involved when I think it is important...and since I still know many of the people "doing" the stuff, they know they can call me for help!

Susan, I think our teachers would agree with you on the tech stuff. Our school district has thrown the teachers curves every year, and when I am there helping it seems to always be an issues....interactive whiteboards--no more overhead slides--must be powerpoint presentations, electronic grade books (not one, but two new softwares to learn), and this year something called blackboard on which they keep assignments, planning, class notes, etc. (but still separate from the electronic grade book.) I think technology is a wonderful thing, but they are throwing it at the teachers so fast that they wonder how they are supposed to grade papers and do lesson planning!

Mu first summer here I thought I was going to die from the heat. But you do get use to it. My hair doesn't frizz like it use to either. We've just entered the 'reason for living in Florida' season. No humidty and the temp is a balmy 80. These few months make it worth it, it's pure heaven. Throw all the windows open, sleep at night with the crisp night air, wake to the singing birdies. Get lulled to sleep by the croaking of the crocodiles. Ahhhhhhh.

I know nobody cares about the difference here but me, but don't you have alligators, not crocodiles? (See, just when I think I know something....I THINK that is what they have in Florida.) They have a lot of them on the islands where we vacation in South Carolina, and my son even has a funny story about coming face to face with one while retrieving a golf ball! (The same Summer he came face to face with a very large Barracuda snorkeling in the netted area at Castaway Cay!) We thought he was exaggerating until an adult who overheard him telling us confirmed the existence of this creature!
