Just dropping by to say hello! Anything new going on I should know about? Sorry I have not been on here much. Been very busy.

Trying to convince my DS's to get there flu shot soon at least by the end of October beggining of November and they just don't won't to here about it. They would rather not go on the cruise.
Dh and I don't want to take the chance of them getting the flu while right before or during our trip..even though we have insurance still don't want to miss going.
Any suggestions? :confused3

Hi--

Robin--
About the shots, we just usually schedule and appointment at the docs and go. I don't usually tell them much ahead of time, and just like going to the dentist, don't act like they have a choice. I have been known to do something nice like go get ice cream or something else they like doing afterward. :teeth:

Reminds me, I need to get on that!

Hi

I inquired about the flu shot the other day when visiting with the doctor. She said that all of North America is behind in the production of the vaccine and it will likely not be available until the end of November. :confused3

So I am on the "fence" with getting it. Sometimes I have had a slight reaction to the shot - ie flu like sypmtoms and as we leave for WDW on December 5 I don't want anyone in my family to have any type of symptoms that remotely resemble the flu bug.

I do tell my dd's that we are getting the shot and they hate needles. I place an emla patch on their upper arm that numbs the area and they don't feel a thing. I use these anytime we have any vaccinations and/or visits to the hospital for tubes etc where needles are involved. Here the docs also recommend giving the children tylenol - especially before a vaccine.

Hope everyone is well. Us Cdn's are celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend and Monday is a stat holiday.

We do celebrate by having turkey etc. but I understand you folks celebrate your Thanksgiving with a lot more flair.

Take care

Denise

Discussions about t-shirts are about the only major thing, I think.

Yes I am familiar with that but have never used it...so it works well? and kids say they feel noting except maybe the pressure?

Thanks for the update. We have just started talking about excursions here. Definitely planning to head to trunk bay while in St. Thomas. Other then that, nothing specific planned. So what main meetings and meeting places do we have set up.

nothing yet...I've got to think of them.

I don't think many if any excursions are left. Considering everybody can book now

Where do you get such a thing? I have never seen or even heard of it? DD runs screaming (literally) whenever she has to get a shot, what a nightmare. If I could find something like that it would be such a help!

One of the benefits they offer where I work is free flu shots. I hadn't gotten them in years but got one last year. I will get one again this year as soon as they offer them.

Hmm, looks like a slow day. Samantha posted on the kids's board under my user id this morning. I cannot get the signed form faxed to them so her userid won't last long. Oh well.

I believe it is a prescription you get from the Dr. And you need to put it on 1 hr before. There is also a cream that works well. I have never tryied either but had called the Pediatrician about 2 months ago to ask what was available after I went on line and looked under"Shot Phobias" and gave info on the topical meds. But Denise used it and said it worked so hopefully she can tell us more!!!

Wow, something to numb shot pain? Wish they'd had it when I was a kid--I almost fainted once because I stressed myself about it so much.

I hadn't ever heard of it, but my guys don't have that big a problem dealing with the shot--they don't love it but they just put up with it--so I'll leave well enough alone.

I'm a little worried about hearing that there won't be any vaccine until late November. I'm definitely calling the Doc tomorrow. I figured after last year and since I hadn't heard anything in the news that things would be back to normal with vaccines this year. :confused3 So much for that...

Our weather is finally cooling off again. A couple of weeks ago we went out and bought new sweatshirts because the guys had outgrown the ones they wore last year--then we had a stretch of 80+ days and the sweatshirts haven't seen the light of day! They need jeans too, but have to go try those on--not a fun outing for either of us. Luckily, shorts and sweatshirts will work for a few more weeks here in the South!

Between Fall clothes, Halloween costumes and starting to pre-plan Christmas and cruise attire, some serious shopping will be needed over the next few weeks. :yay: I like to shop too. Target is a favorite, and we have one about two miles away. I don't really love Wal-Mart and have to travel to get to one so I don't bother. Fred Whoever doesn't exist in Georgia that I know of! I don't mind the mall stores though.

I went out shopping yeasterday to see if I could find some shorts on sale and hard to find. You would figure that here in San Diego that they would have shorts in there stores a little longer but "NOT". They say that all the stores order across the boards, So we get the same clothe that People back east get..all winter this time of year...geesh were still in shorts!
As far as getting dress pants for dinner's that is no problem, and long sleave non sweater shirts are around...but those "dang shorts"!!
Today I am going to hit the stores again and see what I can find...so all of you hitting the streets in search of attire...I wish you the best of luck and you find only beautiful things that you can say "Wow I have always wanted one of those". :thumbsup2
It is nice to know that I am not the only one trying to find summer clothing in the Fall..lol...Remember.."The Force is with you" O'wait a minute this is a Disney site not a Star wars...so in that case...
so is the picky dust,,, pixiedust:

Good Late Morning All

Shopping?!? Did I hear you guys talk about shopping? Well we are going to the mall today. I am going to have to be good though DH is coming with us.

We will see you this afternoon Dee.

I was VERY disappointed today. All the summer stuff is pretty much gone from our stores. Nothing in my size or Sam's size :( . Gonna have to make due with what we have, I guess. Fortunately I got new shorts this summer so I should be ok but I wanted to find a nice woman's short sleeve black t-shirt to create my own POTC shirt with and those are gone too :(. DD sid get a nice swim suit as a hand-me-down from her older cousin yesterday. I have to have her try it on but I think it should fit ok. Mostly I just need shorts for her. I got two new pair at the end of the season so she will just have to make do with what she has unless I can find some on e-bay.

Unless the financial situation gets better I probably won't be buying a pirate costume. I did find a long belt-type scarf in black with skulls at 70% off at Penney's yesterday and I got a cute pair of skull and cross bones post earrings on sale so that, a POTC t-shirt and probably black pants will have to do for me. I have some Jack Sparrow temporary tattoos too (the ones like his sparrow) so DD and I will have those.

I was talking to a friend of mine and she said that if I can't find any shorts in the stores to head over to like the Salvation Army or thrift stores and they have realy nice shorts that have hardley been worn and are in good shape. So I may just do that. I will head over to Macy's today and a few other stores and if not then the Salvation Army and Thrift stores it is...what have I got to loose. :sunny:
