Morning Kat!

I was like DD about my hair--well, I do think I washed it, but...

I have really curly hair. It actually did better if I only washed it once every two or three days. (It tended to be dry, so really didn't need the abuse.) I also washed it at night--worked better for me. I remember that I used to just pull it back or braid it because it never looked the way it was supposed to, so why even try? When I was her age, like now, girls liked straight, straight, straight. Because mine wouldn't do that I just didn't bother. I remember my mom getting mad at me too.

Things changed for me when I got a little older and learned to work with it, found products that helped calm it, and found a style that worked for me--not the same as everyone else wore, but OK for me. I can point you toward products, if she doesn't have anything...some shampoos and stuff do help control the hair.

Thanks. My little princess has a permanent tan that most of us would kill for and hair that I would love to have. She prefers it short to long because it is easier to wash but it looks so much nicer long. Of course, she wants to be blonde and pale like all her friends! And she wants straight hair! We have a straightener which we used every day for a while but she got tired of that. If we can get someone to braid it for her I think that will really help. She does look good with the braids. We have tried all kinds of products that different hair dressers have recommended but so far nothing seems to really help. I think mostly it is just that she wants what she can't have. If she would accept what she does have it would be fine. :goodvibes

Straightener never worked for me--my hair never went completely straight, and it was course so it just didn't look right. Plus it is so hard on the hair. Of course, I wanted the Marcia Brady look, blonde, straight, and parted in the middle...

She'll learn to accept it when she gets past the next few years. The thing that works best for mine is to be sure and condition (sometimes get a leave-in conditioner) and to use a serum afterward. Something like Frizz-ease, or I like Bedhead's line called Control Freak. They have a shampoo, conditioner and serum that seem to tame the curl just a bit. One hairdresser I had, who also had curly hair didn't like that particular line, a bit too controlling for her hair, but it worked great for mine. I learned a long time ago not to fight the curl, but just to keep it from getting wild.

Of course, I say that today, and my hair is not cooperating at all, so what do I know!

I do wear mine shorter, partly because it is easier and partly because I tend to look better in shorter hair.

Another girl hair story...we know this girl who is 16. She comes to the beach with a family we know (friends with their daughter.) We've seen her quite a bit, wears her hair straight. When we were at the beach we got to see her hair natural. It is the most gorgeous curl you ever saw! Nothing excessive, what I would call perfect curls. Soft ringlets...think the old Farah Fawcett look, straight out of the water, no blow dryer needed. She hates them...flat irons them out!  I'm so glad to be a grown up now! (Sometimes.)

I'm not thrilled with the straightener look, you can tell it has been done, but DD liked it. She doesn't have a lot of curl. It is just the wiry coarseness she hates. She is Mexican (she is adopted) and looks very different from all the midwestern blondes around her so of course she doesn't like it! It does better when it is much longer but she hates to have it brushed and it takes much more care when it is much longer. If she'd either let it grow long or get it cut really short (which would be very cute on her but she says it would make her look like a boy, fat chance of that at this point!!!!), she'd be ok, but she insists on shoulder length which is just very hard to do anything with given her hair type. Ah, the trials and tribulations of having a tween girl :rotfl: .

Morning all. It's Heidi...for some reason the laptop won't let me log off of Holly's name. I've clicked log out about 10 times. :confused3
Anyways...good to be home in Maryland. :goodvibes
How was everyone's weekend?

I always do crew gifts -- it's not just a Christmas thing. I used to give phone cards, but I'm wondering if that isn't useful anymore.

I give them in addition to the tips to anyone I tip, plus special CMs who were extra great.

I haven't been following the hair discussion, but I have no problem with Keith's hair, except that he wants it short. His current hair is a compromise between me wanting it longer and him wanting it shorter. I cut his hair and he always likes the results, but there's a lot of negotiating involved.

Morning! Glad you got your computer working.

Kat, I didn't know DD was adopted! I know tweens and teens.. :goodvibes

Dee, your comments made me laugh. Usually it is the boys trying to grow their hair long and the parents wanting it short. I'm different because I do like longer hair on boys, but getting Kev to comb his in the morning can be challenging!

My 14 year old buzzed his really short this Summer...thought it would be grown out before school started. I told him I didn't love the idea, and I didn't think it would grow that fast, but it was his decision.... When he started school he still had the shortest hair in the 8th grade, I'm pretty sure! Luckily he's pretty secure and could handle all of the head rubbing he got at open house, but I don't know that he will do that again! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Out for the day, probably until the bus comes...

OK, I am really going here, but I'm cracking myself up remembering Bri and his short hair.

I think I'll ask him if he wants to get buzzed for the cruise...I'll tell him I'm sure it will be grown out before he goes back to school....

I know, I'll get one of these.

But mom's have to have their fun when they can...harrassing them is one of life's joys...and it's nicer than saying I told you so... ;) pirate:

When Sam goes on her "I don't want to wash my hair" kicks DH threatens to just buzz cut her! :rotfl: She does NOT like that idea :lmao: It's pretty funny to see her react, actually. As much as she would protest, I suspect she is pretty vain, she just likes to act as if she doesn't care!

I know a couple of years ago I had some WalMart gift cards we had Sam give to the kid's club CM's she felt were the ones who were most helpful and kind to her. I will probably do that sort of thing again but not sure how many to get - room steward, waiter, assistant waiter, head waiter, several CMs in the club.... it adds up, doesn't it???? I think I have some little cards I started working on to put with them too. I will have to find those and get them printed out and get some envelopes to go with them.

Hi Guys - No problems here with Ry's hair. He tried to grow it out in May but it did not last long. He has very thick medium brown hair, actually quite light right now(definately a combination of the Pac Is, Mex, and Nor). He is a sweater!! Not a sweater -- sweater but over heats :rotfl2: . So as soon as it was by his ears and you couldn't see his scalp it was more than he wanted to deal with!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 So no Owen Wilsons here!

Have a great day all!

morning all....yes it's still morning lol...how is everybody today?

Hi Everyone,
Another hot day :sunny: ..85...so I'm sending alot of sunshine your way...could you please send me some snow!!!! Believe it or not it is easy to get tired of ALL warm weather. It does drop down to about 45 in the evening however.

Dee :thumbsup2
Great pictures...he has great form, and congrats to him for continuing so far!!! Michael took Kung Fu for years and was 2 sashes/belts away from black and he decided to stop. He says at times that he wants to go back than we start to set it up and he changes his mind. This all seemed to happen when he started to play football. He was practicing football 3 nights a week and 3 nights for Kun Fu and was to much...he chose Football :confused3

Robin, I'd gladly send you some snow if I could! Fortunately the little we had this morning has all melted! I am not a big fan of the white stuff. So glad we are spending Christmas in the tropics this year!

Got looking through DH's shorts. ONe pair is torn, two have stains that are hopeless, two have stains that I am going to try to get out. He has two that look good and I hope fit him. And nobody has them in the stores at this point. Let's hope what he has fits. Though on the sea days I suspect he will be in his swimsuit much of the time. Gotta get his dress clothes out soon too. I really wish I had a rolling garment bag. I'd much rather do that than fold all the good clothes this time around. I can't see buying one just for this trip, either. Oh well, guess I will make do with what I have and perhaps send things out to be ironed the first night we are on board.

I need to get Branden clothes also ...he has grown soooo much. I have 5 bathing suits for him that he lives in on the ship/ports that I bought at the end of summer on sale, hope they still fit him.

Still need to get a hair cut, waxed, manacure and pedicure, few more clothes, and so on and on and on....I am sooo tierd of spending money.

Decided to get my boys Xbox360 for christmas but by the time I bye everything for it; will end up to be around 650.00...and than we need at least 2 games to start. They already have 2 playstaion 2 and reg Xbox with 50 million games...No there not spoiled...what gives you that idea :confused3
Plus there computers!

Hard to think of what to get them and since they both still believe in Santa...well...although I did tell them that I e-mailed Santa and told him that since we were going on this big vacation to give most of there gifts to children who have nothing and really need them...Michael says "Yes" that would be nice ...Branden says "NOT"...geesh Tweens

So will get them that plus a few other things to open when we get back...after all it is christmas and they are still young and believe!!!

What are you all getting your kids this year..give me some ideas...WE have lots of games cause Saterdays is family game night and Fridays Family movie night so we are set there.

HOHOHO :santa: after all its only $$$$$$ right :rolleyes1

I'm very excited to be going home and i'll see steve around i'm sure.

No video games in our house. No PS anything, no XBox, no gameboy (DD would like a gameboy for Christmas, sorry kiddo, not happening). We have enough trouble with her watching too much tv, we don't want to encourage any more sitting in front of that thing, though I did get her Revenge of the Sith to be from Santa (she still believes too). I have a few things she will get from Santa at home for when we get back and then the movie that Santa will deliver on the ship. The cruise is our primary gift for everyone this year. She is getting a few little things but we really aren't getting much for anyone this year. DH keeps threatening to go to Kay jewlers for my gift. It is a running joke in our family as I don't wear much jewelry and don't want him spending that kind of money on something I probably won't wear anyway. I retort with every Kick in the *** begins with K! I guess I'd better come up with something, though, eh??? He doesn't like my answer that I don't want anything this year. He should be happy, shouldn't he???

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: My DH always got me Jewelery and know I have so much I told him "NO MORE" I do were it on occasions.

Tell him that you would like a day at the Spa!!! That is what Dh gets me...Last year he and his best friend split the cost for me to go there...I was there for 8 hrs and got the full treatment including lunch...it was great!!! :teeth:

I love anytime at the spa...would get a message everyday if I could afford it :thumbsup2
