So now we are all waiting for docs..... popcorn:: :surfweb: and of course, the first to get them will make all the rest jealous :yoda: .

Well, being Sunday it is my day to slay the :laundy: monster. Oh joy. But it does need to be done. Got two loads completely through, another in the dryer and one in the washer, then one more to go into the washer. whew.

Kat, I am the slave to the washer and dryer on Sundays too. If not, no one will have clothes to wear for the week.

OK all the teen comments are really hitting home and I am so glad that I'm not alone in the battle. My DD (13) wears short sleeve shirts and flip flops all winter (hi, we are in the Smoky Mtns), at least she wears jeans.

I'm not so sure about boys being easier...DS (9) has been growing his hair into a kind of shaggy, longish mess..I'm not even sure what to call it (and I'm a hairstylist!!!) All I know is it is driving me crazy and I keep hoping he will let me cut it before the cruise, it has too many grown out pieces that don't go with the rest. Am I being too contolling maybe because of my profession (actually I wouldn't want anyone to think that I did that to his hair). I am definately in agreement about picking battles (sometimes that is hard to live up to).

We are under a snow advisory until tomorrow night but with the mountains you just can never tell. The kids only go to school Mon and 1/2 day on Tues then they are off for the holiday (unless there is a snow day tomorrow). :woohoo:

If I don't get a chance to write anything else this week, I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving. I think we will all be thankful for the Disney Magic!!!

Hi Dee...welcome back..been wondering where you disapearred to :)

I posted in the Database in the Yahoo site so if anyone needs to find it later it will be there.

Hey Jen, how are the Colts doing? I can't find it on TV here.

Yeah, gotta do laundry so everyone has their clothes. DH is looking at ebooks to load on his mp3 player for the trip and DD is writing a letter to her great-aunt. I am between laundry loads so I am DISing. I was supposed to get called about finishing a directory move for a client today but still haven't heard anything. Hmmm.

Hello!

Back from shoe shopping...Susan, you may think it's funny to know that Brian
(DS14) chose a self-proclaimed "skater" style tennis shoe. Kinda that flat sole look. Not sueded, though, gray and black leather. I had to make him buy a pair of socks to try on shoes. He was at the retreat all weekend, then went straight to Lacrosse tryouts. When he took off his shoes in the store, BAD news! (I'm sure he would love me telling you that.) I made him buy the socks because I wouldn't let him put those others into a new pair of shoes--especially if he might not buy them.

EmmyJules, the hair is a hard one. I don't know the answers other than what people who have done a good job tell me. We make ours get their hair trimmed from time to time, but they get to decide what style they wear. But, I'm not in the business...so it might be a bigger issue for you. And so far nobody has gone radical on me and done weird colors or mohawks or anything. I wonder how I would do with that!

Yeah, Colts lost. What a bummer. Oh well.

Where is everyone today????

My boys hair is the same way..as long as they keep it clean Im cool with it...There hair is a little long and Michael has curry hair so need to keep his hair a little shorter other wise he. looks like a cue tip

Favorite pictures from Keith's test:

Dee--great pics...The first was my favorite... And I see Keith has the same hairdo we've been discussing.....

Football, Falcons lost again, afraid this season is winding down......
Oh well, at least my sports obsessed boys will have one less team to try to keep up with on the ship.

Isn't it funny how boys hair is such an issue any more? A few years ago they all kept it short and things were easier. I have to admit, though, I tend to prefer longer hair on them, assuming they keep it nice (which the younger ones aren't all that prone to doing!) :)

Oh well, like I said, long as they aren't going for Mohawks and strange colors I guess I should feel lucky, right? :bitelip:

Here's the evening TV review. Extreme Makeover Home Edition was GREAT. One of the best I've seen....Desperate Housewives was OK. Had its moments, but....

I don't do Amazing Race, so can't help with that one.

Talk amongst yourselves....have a good evening!

What are people doing for crew gifts? Are phone cards still used?

hey dee!

we usually give a small monetary gift..so our crew can go ashore at port and buy something for themselves...

WOW..glad you brought that up. Did not even think about the crew getting gifts!!! Have been counting, friends, family,Garbage men,Mail man, 7Teachers,Dean, councler, and so on but never crossed my mind about crew..

Who do you get for...Cabin stewarts and waiters..who is on the list ?????
geeesh this christmas is expensive. But then again arent they all!!! When you give them $$..how much is appropriate..dont want to give to much but also not to little. We do give extra all the time in end of cruise tips. Do we just give it to them like on Christmas Eve ?????

we do the dining staff and the person who cleans our room (on the last cruise we did because my sister got "sick" 3 days in a row on the last cruise so lots of cleaning there)....and last time christmas was in the middle of the cruise...don't know what we'll do now

Good morning everyone! :surfweb:

Ahhhhhh...never thought about crew gifts either...we'll probably just do $$$$$...seems you could just add it to their tip since you'll be giving them that on Christmas night.

So, Kat, thought about DD when I put on my crocs (with socks) this morning to go to the bus stop. How was it this morning? Did she find shoes?

And no posts from Susan last night...hopefully she got her grading done?

Was glad that my older two DSs chose shoes that were on sale yesterday... :thumbsup2 Since they're wearing men's sizes, even sale priced shoes get a little pricey, but since these shoes are worn pretty much every day, I do try to get them something they really like. Glad they really liked reasonably priced shoes this time! :woohoo:

Looking at Keiths pictures makes me want to take Kev to get a haircut. All of my guys' hair is much like Keith's, but Kev wears his just a bit longer, and of course it is always shaggy. He has to have it though, because he has perfected the art of tossing his head to get the bangs out of his eyes.

Good Morning, all! Just watching it snow, what a pretty sight. Kids went to school and we were a little surprised they didn't close (which they usually do even for 1 flake). But maybe they are thinking it is such a short week anyway, might as well try to go if they can.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that the hair thing is something all us Moms are dealing with. My DS (9), Julian is wearing his hair much like the rest of the boys. I'm very flexible with him having the hair he wants, I just wish he would let me shape it up a bit (it has so many long pieces and it is starting to look like a mullet) :scratchin But he thinks I am going to whack it off, which I won't.
Watching the snow has me thinking about Christmas....Christmas in the Caribbean, ahhhhhhhhhhh. Can you hear the ocean now? :woohoo:
Hope everyone has a great day.

We heard there was going to be snow North of here...glad we didn't get it. They would have closed school for sure, and I have things to do today! Besides, they have three days off this week, those snow days are better saved for the lonnnng stretches when they get no breaks!

We woke up this morning to a dusting of the evil white stuff too! Bleah.

DH made DD put the crocs away over the weekend. I cleaned them up yesterday and put them with the rest of the stuff to be packed. She is wearing tennis shoes. Not happy about it but that is all she has right now. She has some boots for winter too.

Our big hair issue is that DD HATES to wash her hair. We have fights every morning about taking a shower and washing her hair. It gets done, but it isn't fu.n She has coarse, curly hair that does well with cornrows and tight braids so we are trying to find someone around here that will do braids for her. She wants to get it done and it might help with her hair care issues. In the meantime, we just deal with the fact that she doesn't seem to care much about how her hair looks :confused3 .

Hmm, crew gifts....of course, I forgot about that too. I suspect many don't celebrate Christmas so how does one deal with that???

Morning Kat!

I was like DD about my hair--well, I do think I washed it, but...

I have really curly hair. It actually did better if I only washed it once every two or three days. (It tended to be dry, so really didn't need the abuse.) I also washed it at night--worked better for me. I remember that I used to just pull it back or braid it because it never looked the way it was supposed to, so why even try? When I was her age, like now, girls liked straight, straight, straight. Because mine wouldn't do that I just didn't bother. I remember my mom getting mad at me too.

Things changed for me when I got a little older and learned to work with it, found products that helped calm it, and found a style that worked for me--not the same as everyone else wore, but OK for me. I can point you toward products, if she doesn't have anything...some shampoos and stuff do help control the hair.
