Friday 12/14, another non-park day. Since this was our 2nd trip this year, we went light on the parks. We had 2-day park hoppers (conference perk) and the MVMCP tickets for a 3rd day. Today we had to dry dd1's shoes since they got SOAKED running around Tomorrowland riding Space MT over and over in the rain. That took forever. Everyone else was down there drying their shoes too. After that we called Dining to see what we could do about breakfast (it was almost 11:00). They had an 11:00 PS for 1900 Park Fare. So we hopped on the monorail and headed to GF. We were late but we still got in. Food was great. Character interaction wasn't great, though. The Mad Hatter seemed like he was in a big hurry. The Alice we had last time was better than this one. But still a good breakfast. I realized that although we had eaten here 2 times previously, dh never had. He loved it, thought the food was great. After breakfast we headed to DQ. This place was too hot and crowded for me. Nothing really for dd2 to do. The only things she could do had too many people there. Her and I ended up leaving and heading over to the Marketplace. Left dh and dd1 at DQ. DD2 and I did some shopping. Dh and dd1 met up with us later and the girls sat on Santa's lap with very little wait. The pictures they do are pricey but cute. They have Disney characters digitally placed in with the picture/border. Pretty cute. The girls didn't look their greatest, though, so we passed. I think to get just one sheet it was like $17...ouch. After that headed back to the hotel. It was pin trading night at the Contemporary, and the girls and I really wanted to go. Dh stayed in the room...he's not into pin trading. They had a kids-only zone set up. The kids could go in and trade 1-for-1 Disney pins, whatever they wanted to trade, with a big board of pins they had set up. They had it set up so that parents couldn't see. Very clever. The sign said it was for ages 6-14, but they let my 3 yo go in. She does her own trading with CM's. She knows what she wants and how to do it. They were pretty impressed with her. The kids can trade 5 pins and have 5 minutes to do it. They let 2-3 kids go in at a time. They gave away prizes too. I think they drew a total of 4 names for prizes. My kids didn't win anything. But they had a great time and we hung out the whole time (7:00-10:00) The CM's were great. They also had an area set up for adults to trade. There were some serious traders! The CM's mentioned that some kids go in with cell phones and are obviously trading for someone else, not themselves. They were impressed at how I let my kids do whatever they want with their pins with no interference from me. They thought they were well behaved and good about following pin trading etiquette (MY kids?! :) ) So they gave them each a Continuing the Tradition pin! The girls were so honored! I told them this is the one time I'll tell them what to do with their pins and told them they are NOT allowed to trade those. We had a great time and also went out to watch the fireworks from the MVMCP on the observation deck. So at least I got to see those since they didn't do them the night we went to MVMCP. Back to the room, bedtime.

What a nice thing for the kids and the pin trading - I hadn't heard of that before - thanks for posting!
