12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Lisa~ did you get the pictures of the kids and their interviews that I sent?

Yes, I replied to your email last night. I just got online from a busy day & a break with a big storm.

OK, I just added two more kids to the website. So far there are five of them. Still need four more to complete the families who have sent info.

We are less than a month away from our WDW trip now. Maybe I can start planning more after the base closure list is released tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that we are not on it please!!! :)

I heard they are closing MacDill....that is close to where we live....I didn't hear any of the others. They were talkign about the impact it will have on the Tampa Bay area.

I am so shocked that JAX isn't being touched by all of this. :( We are lucky to just be on the realignment list. They will lose 654 out of over 4000 civilian jobs but DH should be fine. The contractors will be let go first since they get paid more. They aren't civil service.

glad your DH will be ok...

now I think I may have heard wrong - I don't think they are closing MacDill...just losing some of the jobs there..I'll be sure and watch the news tonight!

Lisa,

Glad to see that your family will not be disrupted! I looked at Ohio, and it looks like a lot of changes - and closures around us - esp Mansfield. Ohio though overall shows a net gain . . .

We just got home after taking pictures of our son and his GF for their senior prom - and we got into one heck of a thunderstorm. When we got home, we had about 2-3 inches of pea sized hail piled up in our flower beds and on our porch. It looked like winter had come again! I'm a bit afraid to look at my siding and roof tomorrow.

The weather has really been something around here lately. I'm glad it came late though, because DS and I were about an hour away in Youngstown for college orientation all day - this stuff was bad just driving a few miles home in from his GF's house!

Glad to hear that you guys are ok. I hope that the yard & house are in good shape. I know that you have been working on that a lot lately.

Lisa,
I am glad your husband's job will keep him where he is. I had to look through the list at all of the old bases I used to live on and also to check out my brothers base that he is stationed at. He is good too.

Hi,

Glad to hear Lisa your good news about the non-closure. As long as we are praying for job stability, add my hubby to the list. He works for United Airlines, and as you know strikes may be looming. It is hard when well meaning friends say things like, "just get another job," when he has worked there for 19years! We will be flying standby to Orlando before this cruise. I had nightmares when we cruised last time, of missing the boat! At least we have Tampa to fly into if Orlando is impossible. Wish we could meet all of you at PC the night before! :grouphug:

Pixie dust your way, Linda! At least with DH he wouldn't lose a job, just be transferred. I have a friend whose DH flies for USAir. They have had a couple of rough years too. It has to be stressful having to fly standby for the cruise! :( MORE PD TO YOU!!!

Oh my goodness! The live reports from the Magic this morning have just gotten me so excited. I cannot wait to be on that ship again! pirate: :boat:

I know! It is almost like we are there. VERY exciting!!! I can't wait to see the sailaway party. :)

Well, it's obvious that not much is going to get done around here today! DH is at work and I have been calling him with updates. He LOL at me! :rotfl2:

That thread is amazing. When I left this morning it was on page 5 and when I got home it was up to 19 pages. It is very exciting. I almost teared up. DH thinks I am crazy  . I can't wait to be there again!

How exciting it was today! I hope that they are able to post lots more pictures over the next two weeks. :earsboy:

LittletonLinda: best wishes to your husband's job! hope all goes well!

I received the mousesavers newsletter today and there was a section that talks briefly about the new online ressies for palo, kids club and spa. it said that in order for cruisers to make their ressies online, their cruise balance had to be paid in full. is this correct?
