12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Hey everyone. I haven't posted here much but i've been reading and busy trying to get ready for this cruise, Christmas, everything!

Is there anywhere to do laundry on the ship besides the very high prices Disney charges for them to do it for you? Packing for 9 days is a lot of clothing. If not, what do most people do?

hmm...I just wolfed down 3 hot dogs (no buns) 2 string cheese and 2 hard boiled eggs....ahhh this yummy Atkins diet! I can't wait til next Thursday!! Since I don't want to gain 1lb a day I am going to try and get up and walk or run in the morning when all is quiet (in our room anyway!)

It's a toss up what we are doing...arriving sometime mid morning Thursday and probably going in to one of the parks or just exploring the resort. We are supposed to have our anniversary dinner at CG that night around 8:30....then sleep in....I was hoping to swim but if it's still cold....no way! and the MVMCP that night! Fun stuff!!! :)

Is anyone wearing a bathing suit under their boarding clothes....I don't really want to wear a bathing suit period but I was thinking of having the girls in theirs.....and DH may wear his??!! I don't want to look too tacky, as it is I will have a great big lime green Mickey extending from my arm!

Lisa those look great~~ I bought some cheap pirate boots at Wal-mart....:)

disdawg - they have onboard washers and dryers...around $2 per load I think.

There are laundry rooms on three decks. They are located near the rear of the ship on each deck. The machines cost $1 a cycle to run, which is cheaper than WDW! They do a good job. I would recommend packaging powder in zip locks to take with you. The vending machine runs out. Also, the change machine runs out too so take a couple rolls of quarters. Early mornings in port are best times for getting it all done. The dryer usually takes two cycles to completely dry your clothes. I put two washer loads in the dryer & ran it for two cycles. You can do this back to back by just putting another $1 in coins in the machine after you insert the first $1 & start it up. :)

Lisa .... I think those boots are perfect. My tavern wench costume is long so I am not too concerned with my shoes. I will probably wear my sandles.

Vanessa.... I don't know if I will wear my suit on board or not. If I don't wear it on board I will probably have it in my carryon.

Oh that is wonderful news. I was getting worried about the volumn of clothes to pack for 5 people for 9 days and multiple outfits per days on some days!

Looks like i'll be heading to the bank for some quarters.

Vanessa, DH & I wont be wearing our suits Saturday. Since we will be at the Mickey pool for such a short time...if at all depending on the wind. I will pack the kid's suits in the carry on and if they want to go in, I will just change them quickly in the bathroom outside of Topsider's if we aren't let into our room before then. :)

I just checked the PP & the laundry rooms are on decks 2, 6, & 7. They are across the hall from staterooms 2096, 6588, & 7590.

too bad the DCL laundry service is a little much or else I would love to send out my clothes and have them all fresh for the trip home!! Ahh, one can dream!
DisDawg - are you arriving to the port early? Are you going to WDW beforehand?
I think there are several of us that will be at the port early...aside from a big Mickey sign, I will be the short redhead loaded down with 2 princesses, stroller, carryon's the kitchen sink accompanied by a very tall Charming!:) Can't wait!

Yes - I was thinking it may be too cold for Samantha to go in...we have thin blood down here...:) and if it was windy!!

So that eliminates me from wearing a suit!! Yeah!!

Vanessa,

We are staying in the Radisson the night before the trip. I just sent lb our information so hopefully it will be on the website soon ( and hopefully i'll have access soon! :cool1: )

Cristi, we can plan on lunch together at MGM for sure. Other stuff if our schedules match. Can't wait to meet you all. (ya'll) :grouphug:

We will not have our swim suits on first day. We have never swam in the pools. We have gone in the hot tubs a couple of times and wear our suits to the spa DAILY to visit the Rainforest.

Wendy - wow ~ we haven't even gotten a pic yet for our cards! I was hoping to do that on the ship when we can all actually get in a photo! :) We started getting a cold front here last night, and I hope the rain has stopped!

Yeah, I kind of wanted to get a good family shot on the trip, at WDW or DCL but considering we won't be back until 12/17, I didn't want to have to wait until then to get my letter out, cards printed and sent, considering I still have presents to wrap that week before Christmas. Also, I'm working that week so it's not like I have the days to work on things, just the nights. So I had to sacrifice the potential of a cool WDW picture for time's sake. AND, we tried to get a good family pic but I had to settle for one of just the kids (I always like to get everyone in the pic, not just the kids) so I am just letting things go this year. Ha ha ha.

Angie... I'll do TOT with you! I didn't get to do it last time. Rachel wants to ride it, but I don't think Jacob will want to. Brad will though so we will have to do a kid swap thing.

Well, here it is! :)

I still need to make the lace up corset & tuck the skirt a little bit.

I just got our rental car booked. I kind of forgot that I still needed to get one  . We rented with Budget. Do you know if Brad can drop the kids and I off with the luggage at port and then go drop off the car? If he can do that where would we wait for him? Would we go on in thru security or would it be better to wait outside for him? TIA

That is what John is going to do, Cristi. (He is at a meeting tonight but can give you the details later.) :) He said that it is very easy to do. You can start going thru security & the check in line. He just needs to go to the same CM who helped you to show his ID & they will give him his KTTW card. :)

Any updates on the checking in procedure at the terminal?? Are they still doing the lottery style drawing or did they nix that??
