12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

We haven't...having the kids around & DD not really wanting to go to the club kind of defeats the whole idea. ;) It sounds really nice though. Not sure if DH would go for the massage though. The benefit of having your Palo resi already done & the rotation you really want is great.

Well, looks like we won't be going after all. :guilty: Our younger DS has a heart condition and we had bad news at the cardiologist the other day after 14 months of stable health and hopes for a complete recovery. He is starting a new drug (after I return from our short WDW trip next week with older DS, thank goodness!) which has some side effects and, after much discussion, we've decided it is too risky to take him out on a boat far from a hospital and heart doctors. We're not 100% about this decision since we're still praying for a miracle and that he'll be BETTER when we return to the cardiologist in the summer but that is how it is right now. I don't want to set myself up for further disappointment so I won't be participating anymore. Hope you have a terrific cruise!

Jennifer, so sorry to hear what you are going thru. (((HUG))) Maybe you can contact DCL to discuss this with their medical program. Your doctor could determine if they would be able to monitor your DS. I hope that everything goes well. I'll say a prayer for his successful treatment.

I had the "pleasure" of using the medical facilities on the 10 day this Christmas. I got a kidney stone Christmas Eve... NOT the Christmas present I was hoping for. But, to my point. The 2 docs who worked with me and the 3 nurses were all very professional and we thought provided excellent treatment. However, they have limited facilities, such as no ability to do an IVP. They said if the stone did not pass they would have me get that done in St. Thomas. Luckily it did pass, as I had told my husband, even in the throws of severe pain, "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT LETTING THEM TAKE ME OFF THIS SHIP" So, I guess I would be with Jennifer if my child had serious medical problems that might need more extensive treatment. Will definately pray for a miracle for him though.

Has anyone done the REAS?
We did REAS this last trip (the 10 day) It was wonderful. Reservations for Palos dinner and brunch made ahead of time, massage reservations made ahead of time. We also got a nice box of chocolates, a basket, a photo album, a bottle of champagne. We are not huge drinkers and had not opened the champagne as of the last night. We did not want to have to pack it home, so took it to dinner with us the last evening and shared it with out tablemates. All enjoyed and they did not charge a corkage fee because it was DCL wine. The breakfast was also very good and it was nice to have that full breakfast brought to the room on one of the sea days. As to the "romantic turndown" night and kids being there...you can make of that piece whatever you want. It consists of rose petals on the bed. Kids might enjoy that too. I added the cost of all we got (massage, Palo dinner charge, chocolates, photo album, champagne, basket) and it only cost a few dollars extra. IMHO, very worth it to save the hassle of that ressie rush.

I would encourage you DH to give the massage a try. They are very professional, careful of your modesty and BOY DOES IT FEEL GOOD! So relaxing. I think we are going to try the body wrap this next time. We are pretty comfortable getting massages as both our son and dil are massage therapists and, so we understand the "therapist" concept.

Oh, by the way, I did book this morning. Made me late for work, but I have my priorities straight!!

Hi Angie

We didn't book this cruise, but I just thought I'd stop by and say hello.

How's everything is the great pacific northwest? Say Hi to Dennis for me.

Ken

Ken! Great to hear from you. Thanks again for the photos. So....book this cruise! :flower: Give Shari and Stacey a hello for us too. Great kid you have there.

BTW Ken, Dennis says he will send you a CD soon...still working on it. I'm not sure if he is a perfectionist or a procrastinator. Either way, look for it before too long. :scratchin

I'll second trying the massage....on our last cruise DH and I did the couples massage and it was wonderful. It was a first for both of us!

Jennifer - I will be keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.....hope everything turns out ok.

Jennifer, I am very sorry to hear about your son. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. If there is anything you need let me know. I am not too far down the road. :grouphug:

I was thinking about doing the REAS package this time also. I will probably book it, but not tell DH about it until cruise time. I am sure that he would enjoy it too, but would probably freak about the cost. I don't think that we will have a problem getting the kids to do the clubs in the evenings. That is about the only time they went last year.

Who did everyone use to book the cruise? I booked directly with DCL, but I would like to switch my ressie to a TA (not the one I used last July). I was thinking about switching to DU, but I am not sure how to go about that. Any ideas?

Hey, I just noticed this was my 400th post. Wow, I really need to get a life ;)

Just contact DU. I got a quote from them today for my uncle and aunt and it was $1864 for a cat 11 for them including trip insurance. Very good price I think. My uncle is thrilled. They have never cruised. We are all very excited now.

I'm right with you. This is 399 for me. No life outside of Disney here either. :teeth:

We originally rebooked onboard with Disney in May for the Dec 04 cruise but I got home and checked around and AAA - (they gave us an onboard credit too) was much lower so we changed to them and then had to change to the following year. I am still a little weary of the price....I so badly want the verandah but I could have a lot more spending money if we went to a different stateroom...I can only hope for those FL discounts....

Good evening all. :goodvibes Bumping us so we don't get lost. I got the bug. Started last night and now I am feeling pretty puny. It has been going around work and lasts several days. I am off work for the next 3 days so maybe I will feel better by Monday.
